A new survey from Public Policy Polling (D) shows Ohio Democrats and public employee unions likely to win a big victory on Tuesday in the referendum on Republican Gov. John Kasichs anti-public union bill, SB-5.
The poll shows only 36% of Ohioans will vote to support the law, while a decisive 59% oppose the bill and will vote to repeal it.
Kasichs own approval mirrors those numbers, with only 33% approval and 57% disapproval. Kasich was elected in the 2010 Republican wave, defeating incumbent Democrat Ted Strickland by a 49%-47% margin. However, when asked if they could vote again, the respondents in this poll chose Strickland by a 55%-37% margin.

This shows how many people are living in fantasy land!
A guy on CNBC this morning said repeal was likely and as a result, Ohio will become our Greece.
Kasich is arrogant, and while most Ohioans would support a substantial part of SB5, it was handled in a very abrupt, ham handed fashion. The communication aspect of SB5 to the public was non existent. The unions seized on the elimination of collective bargaining rights for teachers, nurses, police and fire. Most Ohioans like people in those professions.
So you have an arrogant politician ramming through legislation without explaining fully what’s being done and why. Worse, only explaining parts of it, and making it appear to be more political backdoor dealing.
That’s why it’s going to get crushed. That’s what I see.
I want to see the layoffs begin Wednesday morning. Given the budget deficit in this freaking state, each and everyone of them deserve what is coming. YES to 2!!
there is minimal advertisement FOR the bill...All advertisement on tv/radio/signs are all to vote NO for issue 2. I see 100:1 against as far as advertising.
You mean the union can't negotiate wage increases now? Really?
I live in Ohio.... Most Ohioans are clear by now, on how important a ‘yes’ on issue 2 is
Fine, Ohio, go ahead. But don’t complain when lots of jobs move out of state. Don’t ask for federal assistance when your economy sucks.
“You mean the union can’t negotiate wage increases now? Really?”
If SB5 stands, yes, that’s what I have read. But the unions spin it to mean they can’t fight for staffing levels and proper conditions to serve the public.
Good job at perpetuating the leftist spin. What issue five did was remove the ability of Unions to negotiate for anything other than wages.
BTW what business does the union have deciding how many Government Employees are hired? THAT IS FOR ELECTED OFFICALS! (PEople who must answer to the voters.)
I wish that I could, but I can't.
That’s all that I hear on the radio is how they wont be able to have enough firefighters or police to help Ohioans.
Even one so called paralized police veteran ( I dont know if he really is or not, that’s why I said so called ) is telling a story of how he got shot in the spine underneath his bullet proof vest and that issue 2 would not allow more equipment that the police need.
Simple fear mongering.
Why do you say Kasich is arrogant ?
I dont see him or think of him as arrogant but as a good honest , God fearing and Christian man.
Just curious is all........
“Good job at perpetuating the leftist spin. “
Good job being an a-hole.
I’m more informed than most, and I don’t understand the details of SB5. There you have the communications issue.
And rather than inform, you play the ask a question then slam the response game. But, you can feel like a superior freeper soul while you watch SB5 get crushed.
Nicely done.
So the short answer is that union thug criminals with unlimited money can do whatever they like?
