A man who witnessed the Whole Foods attack, but asked not to be identified, said he was in the store buying an organic orange when the crowd arrived.
There’s an epitaph for the republic if ever I heard one.
No, it wasn’t. It was municipal policy. In fairness to the miserable David Lannon, Whole Foods was in damage-control mode. Men’s Wearhouse in Oakland had no such excuse. In solidarity with the masses, they printed up a huge poster declaring “We stand with the 99%” and announcing they’d be closed that day. In return, they got their windows smashed.

Ping
“Im a proud member of the 1 percent”
I’d advise to resist the temptation to say that.
Instead, point out that if any % applies it is 47%. The 47% who don’t pay income taxes.
He’s absolutely right.
Now there's a phrase that encapsulates the Republican presidential field!!!

Freepmail me, if you want on or off the Mark Steyn ping list.

Not a fan of lawsuits but anyone injured by the Occupy types should sue Oakland city council et al for allowing, even promoting the violence.
Please be careful to remember also, that not all people in the lowest income brackets are liberals. Please also remember that not all of them WANT to be there... I don’t ever want to run the risk of being confused as a socialist just because I may not be as wealthy as someone else. It’s not as though ANYONE pays no taxes at all. Perhaps not income tax, but plenty of other taxes.
OWS is nothing more thsn s brownshirts shake down of corporate America to fund the Obama campaign.
Most of the 1% are Democrats as is most of Wall Street

Right on!
They "occupied" the Plaza in St Augustine today. Many of them seemed to be Northeast retirees, mostly former civil service employees or from the quasi-academic professions, who attend the local Unitarian church (or whatever the Unitarians call their gatherings). Sadly, we can't even blame it on the young.
Anarchists and retired teachers for statism.
One business untouched by the maggots in Oakland was a true Conservative one. When the mob got to the front door of an office building in the area, they were met by the owner with a shotgun in his hand. The mob moved on.
I once knew a Unitarian missionary.
He would knock on people’s doors, but he didn’t know why.
D’accord.
Add me please. Long a Steyn fan.
