Which is why you two spent all night talking about other people.

I was pointing out that what the debatees were proposing were either already implemented or proposed for Texas.

Nobody could handle that Cain and Gingrich have the same IDEAS as Perry. Their platforms are virtually identical.

It appears they can’t believe their barrage of peeved comments haven’t attracted political support for their single-digit guy.

Good point, I can’t think of how Perry could be any more irrelevant.

Maybe people aren’t scared of him at all, they’ve just chosen to support someone else in the primaries. I had no preconceived notions about Perry because I knew very little about him. And it’s ridiculous to run around the thread talking about how all these things were all Perry’s ideas. The whole dang conservative side of the country has been discussing many of these things for decades. Texans have the advantage of living in a mostly conservative state that’s willing to enact conservative legislation. Here in Oregon, not so much but that doesn’t mean we haven’t understood how important they are to the country. I don’t really have a problem with people discussing how well these things have worked in states where they’ve been tried because it proves what we’ve all been saying is right. But to be so completely condescending that you’re candidate is the only one who could possibly do all these things because he’s done some of them on a state level is absurd. First he’s got to be able to convince the electorate he’s the right person for the job.

If he can’t even convince the base who pays closer attention to politics than the rest of the country, how will he convince the general electorate who pays much less attention? One of the few ways the masses have to observe the candidates is through the debates. Perry is a professional politician with 20 years of experience and hasn’t improved enough in that amount of time to stand on a stage and get his ideas across succinctly and clearly. I didn’t care that he didn’t do well in the first debate but he never got better. For better or worse we live in a soundbite society where people have to be able to think on their feet. I’m not convinced that Perry can do that.

Yea I hear you. It’s been Cain all week 24/7. Haven’t heard much from the other candidates. This was a great idea for the debate.

Ok - Permission granted to proceed with Love Fest!

I just Love Herman Cain.

I would Love to have Newt has VP.

I would Love to see Perry, Bauchman and Santorum drop out of the race.

I would Love to see Romeny speak the truth about his liberal governorship in Massachusetts.

I would Love to see Obama re soundly defeated by a Cain/Gingrich

I AM JUST SO OVERWHELMED WITH LOVE TONIGHT ...sigh

I know its hard to say goodbye but I don’t think your guy is coming back. He has some good ideas but he just keeps shooting himself in the foot. Cain and Newt are smart enough to step out of the way. LOL!!!

Perhaps Perry needs to do a better job of getting his ideas out.

I’m not in that situation now. Having been there, though, it doesn’t make any sense until there IS a job or a very good possibility of a job.

A friend’s husband recently had to move to another state to find a job. It took more than a year to sell their house. It cost them an arm and a let to keep him in an apartment and the mortgage on the house.

The amazing thing is, you NEVER hear in depth discussion like this with Democrats. Ever.

They spend their time on demagoguery. Frankly we're owed this kind of discussion and should demand it from those who wish to govern.

Thank you for shooting your own campaign in the foot with your behavior on this thread tonight.

Thanks to the Perry supporters conduct on this thread “obnoxious childish behavior” and “Perry supporter” are indelibly linked in Freepers minds.

I wonder why they are so scared of him? Makes no sense.

Voters aren't scared of Perry. Those being polled are simply responding to his overall presentation of himself, and most have not been sold on what they've seen.

Some others have studied him more carefully, and have given him a pass because of what they've found.

All of that isn't to say that Perry is a rotten egg. He's just not the kind of leader that most center-right voters are looking for in their next president. I'm trying to say all this as civilly, and as matter-of-factly as I can, without ruffling any feathers.

Perry needs to sell Perry. That's about as simple as I can put it.

My point is since all three share the same platform and proposals, why not support the candidate who is itching to take it to Obama?

Perry will tear zero up like a ragdoll. The other two... I dunno. They seem more like consensus-builders and reach-across-the-aisle type guys.

I hope I didn’t say anything too acerbic.

I give Cain a lot of credit for showing up and sitting down to this difficult debate. I like him, and have admiration for him. I just don’t think TGE crisis management skills he has shown enable him to deal with national and world crises.
