(Flashback) Politico Will Not Reprint Sex Allegations Vs Obama Because They Are "Unsubstantiated"
Politico ^ | 6/18/08 | Ben Smith

Posted on 11/04/2011 1:03:24 PM PDT by icwhatudo

"His story has generally been ignored by the mainstream media, because he's been unable to substantiate his allegations. He has come to public attention recently, however, because his planned appearance at the National Press Club drew complaints from a wide array of prominent liberal bloggers, led by Firedoglake's Jane Hamsher. Their petition to prevent Sinclair from renting space at the club – which bloggers feared would lend him credibility – drew more than 11,000 signatures. "

"Politico isn't reprinting Sinclair's allegations because they are unsubstantiated. "

But they went ahead and printed unsubstantiated allegations about Cain.

Allegations that have no journalistic merit to them whatsoever.

Rush was on a roll, today...he wondered how many employees have been sexually harrassed at Politico.

They can come forward - with any accusations - we'll keep their names "anonymous".

I never heard that Sinclair was a nut... he got a nut in the back of a limo with hussein... but I never heard that he was mentally challenged.

To my knowledge, Sinclair never brought a legal action but made these charges in a book or an article. If it hadn’t been for the legal actions/employment grievances filed by the complainants in the Cain cases, I doubt that Politico would have published anything.

For better or for worse, a reporter generally won’t just publish somebody’s claims (although I’m sure the ones about Obama were true), but there has to be a paper trail. In Cain’s case, there is.

And it’s true that anything about a Republican is going to be magnified, but that’s just how it goes and all GOP candidates should be prepared for this.

So they refused to print a story which came straight out of the mouth of Sinclair who claims to have been present is justified because the claim was not substantiated.

But they run a story about a 15 year old alleged incident where the other parties refuse to speak on the record.

Larry Sinclair at least had the guts to get before a camera and tell his story.

So run with the Cain story and beat us to death with it and bury the 0bama/Sinclair fling. Bias much?

You have a better opinion of poo-litico than I do. I’m sure we would have heard something whether there was a court case or not. There was a story that some woman out there who felt she was sexually harassed by Cain but didn’t want to file charges.

This is not about legal issues. This is completely about the liberal media’s manipulative tactics and the double standard they use to apply them. They fear conservatives and do all they can to divide and confuse. When we are united, we are dangerous to their cause. So they saw an opportunity to use our strength against us. They felt that because we hold to higher standards, the mere suggestion that there was impropriety in one of the most conservative people in the race would be enough to cause us to reject him.

Have you heard Karl “Tokyo” Rove? They were and are trying to destroy Cain. But it seems both they and Rove have misjudged people. They don’t realize how sick we are of these games. Conservatives have seen these tactics too many times. Look at what they have tried to do to Sarah Palin. We must not let that happen again or there will never be an end to it. They must not be allowed to pick our candidates for us. They must not be allowed to use lies and manipulation to destroy our best candidates. The communist dems and the socialist RINOs must not be allowed to succeed.

"They must not be allowed to pick our candidates for us. "

They have "been there, done that" at least 3-times in my lifetime.

"They must not be allowed to use lies and manipulation to destroy our best candidates. The communist dems and the socialist RINOs must not be allowed to succeed.

The "how" details please...This been going on, successfully, for decades. Only "watering the tree" will ever put a stop to it...

How to stop the media from setting up either a rock or a hard place for a choice for us in every election cycle? By not doing what we’ve done over and over again.

Now there are other sources of information than the media. Consider the source and its bias when you evaluate information. Keep up with the ones you trust. One of the first rules of critical thinking is to determine bias of the source. They don’t teach critical thinking or logic in school anymore so few people know how to evaluate the information they receive.

Always choose the conservative candidate in the election. When stealth RINOs run for re-election, hold their feet to the fire. Make them keep their promises by constantly keeping their words in their faces. Don’t let the media gloss over all the work for the liberals they have done. Make sure they have competition for their office in the primaries. Then make sure you vote them out when the time comes.

Also, every time a RINO snarls and says where are you going to go, you don’t want the democrat, you have to vote for the RINO — don’t do it. RINOs have counted on the fact that conservatives will line up behind the RINO candidate because they don’t want the democrats.

But the RINOs are willing to do anything, make primary rules that favor RINOs, give party money to RINOs to use against conservatives in primaries, work together with democrats to eliminate conservatives in order to make sure they hold power. Let them see that we aren’t falling for their tricks anymore. As long as conservatives keep reacting the same way they have always reacted, we will keep getting the same horrible results.

It won’t be easy. These people do not want to lose their power. But they cannot force us to vote for them, they can only try to trick and confuse. If we refuse to listen to the media and stop falling for their tricks. We may well win.

The Politico article seems quite damning, but then you read the last line, which discloses the fact that the author is one of the bloggers Sinclair is suing for defamation.
