Cain rises in Post-ABC poll despite scandal; most Republicans dismiss allegations

Businessman Herman Cain and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney are running nearly even atop the field of 2012 GOP presidential hopefuls, a new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows, with most Republicans dismissing the harassment allegations that over the past week have roiled Cain’s campaign.

Seven in 10 Republicans say reports that Cain made unwanted advances toward two employees when he was head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s--allegations which have been stiffly rebutted by Cain’s campaign--do not matter when it comes to picking a candidate.

Love the way the slanderous attacks on Cain are now “a scandal”

Yes, a scandal showing the complete lack of anything resembling real journalism in the USA.

We can’t let them steal another candidate from us, we’ve got to make our choice and stand fast!

Looks like Republicans are finally growing a little spine and willing to dismiss the LSM...that said, I wouldn’t mind a little polling info on what the beloved and sophisticated independents are thinking. Alas, they decide elections, at least until we get enough of an educated and prosperous public which don’t fluctuate back and forth.

But if independents are hanging with Cain even with this, then, we are in great shape....if not...then, this is a little frightening, as we really don’t want a nominee that is going to fail to oust obama. Electability is something that does matter....

Shall we all be reminded again what Romney's high water mark recently has been? Something to the tune of 30% and dropping? Geez, go figure.

I was out most of yesterday, but what I did see of Fox, it seemed that karl rove was conspicuously absent. Is it just me, or did anyone else notice this? He didn’t appear on any show that I managed to catch, and usually, he is everywhere.

You beat me to it word for word. The only scandal so far has been the journalistic malpractice that has sought to destroy Cain's reputation.
It's as if someone started a whispering campaign about you saying that you walked out your door and picked up the paper on your lawn. What exactly is the felony he's being charged with?

This poll of “adults,” not likely voters, shows Cain and Romney tied. However, this likely overstates Romney’s support. Conservatives, who are much more likely to actually vote, certainly greatly prefer Cain to Romney.

A certain ex-president set the high bar on this one. Unless Cain got certain favors from interns and used a cigar for reasons other than smoking it on them in the Godfather’s Pizza executive offices, there’s nothing to see here.

I’ve been hammering the LSM comment lines over their duplicity on this, comparing it with their refusal to cover genuine scandals on Clinton, Occupy assaults and cover-ups, etc., etc., etc., etc.,etc.,...

And I always point out that their behavior is what has motivated me to start donating to Cain’s campaign.

We all need to hit their comment lines and phone lines HARD.
