Screw Perry at this point.

I will not vote if he’s the only option we have left. No better than Obama.

He also told Fox News that any reporters he had ever spoken to about the Cain allegations were free to openly attribute those comments to him. In doing so, he opened up the door for Politico, who originally reported the allegations, to confirm him as the source. Politico has not done so, effectively eliminating Anderson as the source of the story.

So Cain is still peddling this story even after Anderson not only said he wasn't the source of the leak, but even gave Politico and any other reporter the green light to finger him if he was.

Meanwhile Block is backing away from the accusation while Herman is still pushing it. Is it really that hard for these guys to stay on the same page? Seriously? This has got to be some of the worst crisis management I've seen since Anthony Weiner was busy denying he'd sent photos of his crotch all over the twitterverse.

This thing is collapsing in on Cain. As a demonstration of how he’s handling himself under pressure, I can’t say it’s all I want it to be.

This is a contest for President of the United States. We have so little by which to judge someone being ready for the job. This sort of thing can either make or break someone by how he deals with it.

I’m not saying it’s going to destroy him, but he could have used it as a way to prove he can handle anything. Instead, it’s showing his flaws.

But Cain seemed unconvinced, telling Hannity "there aren't enough breadcrumbs that leads us to any other place."

Shouldn't he be campaigning for the job he wants, rather than pretending he's a crime scene investigator?

And there is something disturbing about how Cain, and his campaign manager, keep saying that there is "evidence", or that someone else "confirmed" something, when all they are talking about is their own quotes.

Does Cain really think that showing Forbes quoted him is some independent investigation?

Worse, does he expect us to forget that he personally claimed it was Anderson. He didn't say he was just repeating something he read in Forbes. Not that it would matter, since Forbes was just repeating what he told them.

Is this how you make a story go away?

Well, Cain is always blaming someone else for his problems. At least this time he didn’t blame Perry — he blamed Forbes magazine. “It’s all Forbe’s fault that I falsely accused Anderson of leaking the story”.

Frankly, I’m not sure why Cain is revealing this. Forbes crafted his 999 plan too. Now, if he paints Forbes as incompetent, or even his organization, that doesn’t bode well.

He’s right. Not that any of you care about facts.

If you read the interview, Cain accuses Curt Anderson, never mentions Perry.

Leaks are intentional.

Of course you can't “prove” anything and directly show a link, it's all done with plausible deniability in mind.

But someone did leak it.

That said, the Cain side believes it's from Perry's side, and the connection makes sense.

These scum tactics entirely eliminate someone like Perry from the picture. Even if he's nominated and counts on me (the usual conservative voter) to vote for him because he's our guy, I'll stay home. Perry has just eliminated himself from the political gene pool.

There is so far no merit to any of this and the goal is of course to simply keep the story going because as long as the media “talks about it” it's supposed to maul the candidate Cain. Au contraire, this sort of anonymously leaked 20 year old trash (it has no substance - “accusations”) is what discredits the typical political animals like Perry. The only one that deserves ripped apart politically is Perry, not Cain.

Cain

Perry’s next.

I don’t care if a youtube appears showing Cain beating Michelle Obama with a baseball bat or another showing Perry shooting a pistol into the air during his speech-

cue music-

“I won’t be fooled again”

Good grief.

Can anyone at all see that the communist devils are going to do whatever it takes to take down this “black man” who threatens, not only their precious “0,” but also the entire Democrat and Republican establishment?

I’m astonished that so many of us are so easily “distracted.”

Let’s see how Cain is handling this.Since the story broke he is raising more money going up in the polls and exposing the MSM as fools. You think he needs consultants?

If Cain ends up being our nominee, then it is going up a easy walk for Obama.

This guy is always quick to blame other Republicans without any evidence or fact, a sort of McCain in the making.

I know that Perry is a hard campaigner, but I won’t believe
that he would stoop to this kind of gossipy tactic. He knows
that it would surely backfire and make HIM look bad. He’s
NOT stupid...much as some would love to paint him that way
because he is a Texan.

I wish they’d just get on with campaigning and not acting like
a bunch of fishwives! *sigh*

One of the women was represented by a lawyer named Bennett. On CNN the other night he said it’s his understanding that someone from the NRA leaked the story.

the source of the report matters less than the truth of the report, at this point

If it happened. who cares who leaked it?
If It is false then worry about who leaked a false report

quibbling about the source is premature at this point, Herman

Good grief! Is Cain bipolar? The mood swings, the changes in his stories every few hours, the finger pointing in every direction - and when it comes to finger pointing, he seems particularly fond of pointing towards Perry from the moment Perry entered the campaign.

Cain has been doing the dirty work for the Mittens. I guess he figures that if he brings down Perry, Mitt won’t reveal any goodies from the bag of tricks with Herbie's name on it. Heck, if Cain can accuse Perry with impunity and without evidence, no one dare to tell me not to accuse Mitt of having a bag of goodies filled with unflattering stories about the Cainster.
