All over #OccupyOakland right now, not fully confirmed.
Apparently attempting to block the road - angry driver hit the protestors.
But they were hoping for someone politically targetable.
If only the vehicle had been an SUV.

They got their "authority" alright.
It was a SILVER MERCEDES.
It’s also incumbent on the pedestrian to look both ways before blocking the road.

and what if you're riding a bike?
Brant Ward / The Chronicle
Bicyclists were the first to block trucks trying to leave the port. Thousands of OccupyOakland supporters left their downtown protest for the Port of Oakland where they met little resistance early in the evening Wednesday November 2, 2011. They essentially shut it down by blocking entrances at the port.
that would be a mistake. This is a free country. If they force people to leave their demonstrations there will be more trouble.
seems to me people here are forgetting that running over a pedestrian is actually against the law.

so is blocking a thoroughfare or street
If somebody was indeed running thru traffic, sounds like he’ll be “Occupying Dead Street.”
1 percenter!
Sweet.
How does one define victory?

“It’s a victory,” exulted one protester, 21-year-old Oakland art student Umar Shareef. “To get all these people together as one unit is amazing.”
Andrez Quintanilla, a 28-year-old truck driver, was trying to drop off a load at the port but was forced to cool his engines outside the entrance.
“It’s good what they’re doing,” he said. “They’re trying to make sure everyone has their rights, but I wish they would let me go. I need to go home.”
MYFOXNY.COM - A protester, angered by the presence of a news crew inside Zuccotti Park Friday morning, threatened to stab Fox 5 News reporter John Huddy. Police arrested the protester.
What has been an otherwise violence-free period during his six weeks covering the Occupy Wall Street movement, took a turn for John Huddy. He explained what happened during Good Day New York.
“This is somebody I’ve come across several times for the last few days,” Huddy said. “He threatened to stab me in the throat with a pen. He ripped the mic out of my hand.”

Driver was drunk/got PO’d ==> wifey takes drivers seat ==> nothing to see here, move along.
and which law do you think is the more serious one to break?? murder, or standing in a street?
“Interesting. If he’s one of the people being paid by ACORN, his family will be entitled to death benefits ...maybe even some BIG bucks by way of wrongful death litigation. What kind of training was he given? Did his ‘manager’ explain the hazards of standing in traffic? Was his training documented?”
Good points! Did he have a copy of the ACORN employee handbook in his tent? Was he a victim of ACORN sexual harrassment, driven to his doom by suicide? Was he under the influence of heroin IN THE WORKPLACE?
Did he have the proper EQUIPMENT to perform his job? Did ACORN issue him a REFLECTIVE SAFETY VEST since he was operating adjacent to a major avenue?
Or did ACORN say “Hey homeless guy, here’s cash for heroin. Get blitzed and play alongside this intersection until you stumble into traffic and get squished.”
Most likley a Democrat Congressman was driving that would explain being let go by the Police :)
They’re lucky this driver wasn’t a gangbanger with a load of ammo.. or an ambulance with a seriesly ill patient onboard.
Jaywalkers get ticketed and run over out here more oft than one would think. of course, so do pedestrians in marked sidewalks, more so in San Fran tho....
