Was the recent attack on Herman Cain’s presidential campaign a professional hit job? Absolutely, says Herman Cain. And he says he knows just where to look for the guy who did it: At 815 Slaters Lane in Alexandria, Virginia, a low-slung former warehouse in the shadow of a coal plant.

But, Limbaugh was out of control today mimicking accusers he’s never seen or met. This happened 15 years ago. Mimicking would-be accusers. I’ve been a non-stop listener since 1989 but today was disgusting.

Same here, I'm sad to say I had to turn it off. It's not the accusations that are going to take Herman Cain down, it's the way he is reacting to them.

I did have respect for Cain - wasn't a supporter because I thought he was too inexperienced and shoots too much from his mouth and then has to back-track. I would have been happy to vote for him though if he would have ended up being the nominee. I didn't take the harassment allegation seriously - BUT - the way he has responded; changing his story, accusing his critics of being racist - and saying Perry was responsible, without anymore proof than someone that used to work for him now works for Perry...I have completely lost any respect I had for the man.

I am now convinced that he has always been a stalking horse for Romney. He. Is. Going. Down.

There is no way Cain supporters would go to Romney, they are polar opposites. And quite frankly as a Cain supporter, if he accepted an offer from Romney to run as VP, I’d be dropping him like a hot potato and writing in Sarah Palin.

Wrong, people like Cain because he isn’t illegal pandering Perry and he isn’t flip flop Romney.

The votes would mostly go to Newt or Bachmann.

Here’s what little polling was available from PPP: I switched around Romney and Gingrich, my bad.

If Cain’s candidacy does implode in the coming weeks our numbers suggest the candidate poised to benefit the most is Newt Gingrich. In North Carolina he’s the second choice of 29% of Cain voters, compared t0 16% for Romney, 15% for Perry, and 10% for Bachmann. In Maine he’s the second choice of 26% of Cain voters to 17% for Romney and 15% for Perry.

Ridiculous. No Cain supporter would vote for Romney. They are polar opposites!

Not sure if I buy this. It has done nothing to help Perry.

Nobody has ever accused Perry of intelligence, either.

Cheers!

Oh in Perry and his supporters minds, they think if Cain drops out, Cain’s supporters will flock to him. Seriously. They’ve already said so on FR. I will write in a candidate before I vote for Perry or Romney.

If he is wrong, and I think he is, his campaign is over. Perry will defend himself. This aint GW Bush.

What's he gonna do, get drunk and call Cain the N-word?

"Save a pretzel for the gas jets!"

Cheers!

Maybe so. Anyhow both men deny leaking the story. One thing is for certain, Politico knows who is behind it.

Oh God. How many more are there going to be? This doesn't look good for Cain.

Fox News Alert has a third woman coming out.

It doesn't matter when Cain's innocent.

Compare the response of Cain to a known guilty party (Clinton).

Then look in Hillary's eyes and the eyes of Cain's wife.

Then look at Mr. Kitty-Whipped from Texas. Lady Macbeth is willing to savage anyone to get her turn at being first lady, eh?

Cheers!

What kind of hard evidence can you have in a ‘she-said, he-said’?

Look at what Clarence Thomas said, and what Herman Cain said.

Compare to what Clinton said (and every knows Clinton is guilty of far more than "non-sexual remarks" including oral sex, anilingus, and subornation of perjury, as well as credible accusations of RAPE). Compare to Anthony Weiner.

Then look at Cain's wife's eyes.

Case closed.

Cheers!

I never addressed you and expect your immature self to do the same for me. Maybe Cain will invite you up to his room, but I won’t.

Is it my imagination or are the usual Perrybots quiet today?

Not all of them have message discipline, as one might expect.

See for example post #136, tho' there are others.

Cheers!

They’re waiting for more talking points to be faxed. We’ve already seen the common, ‘it isn’t the allegation, but how he’s responding’ meme a few times.

Could be. ANITA Perry is desperate for something, anything, to shake things up and give him her a chance to recover his her Kitty-Whipped Husband's lead. /sarc>

All fixed, eh?

Cheers!

The real issues I have experienced in life regarding my own bad choices as a juvenile were these:

1) People make a deal about something you already paid the due penalty for, in other words, they do anything to argue that you aren’t pure. If this is true for Herman Cain, such as paying the accusing party off from a lawsuit a long time ago, then the accusing party needs to drop it, and forgive. It’s also a plus if Cain forgives. However, it’s also generally hypocritical on the side of the other party as well. I committed some crimes as a juvenile, but I pulled my act together after that, served due time, and also was among the lucky few who made a decent rebound when I could have turned toward far more serious crimes. I would argue this more than anything else. It also almost always turns out to be hypocritical on the accusing party when they go for the “moral purity” argument, as they often don’t sincerely care about morality as part of their accusations in the first place.

2) Let’s say you’re guilty and you have not paid the due penalty, well, you can pay off the due parties and show that clearly you are the more mature one should that not satisfy them.

3) Let’s say you’re actually innocent, and someone is just smearing you, well, you can state and show how much evidence the other side has, give your case, and show that you can take the insults that get thrown along your way in the mean time.

This situation is a make or break for Cain, if he can argue that #1 or #2 applies, it shows some maturity on his part, and it works well for showing how suitable or unsuitable of a candidate he is for our votes, if not, then the ravages of both sides of the political spectrum have chosen their more fit.

As for baggage, Newt Gingrich has plenty of that, so as for who could have motives to smear who, it works either way. If you can narrow it down to those you can easily smear out of the race in the general election, it’s an easy shot.
