Was the recent attack on Herman Cains presidential campaign a professional hit job? Absolutely, says Herman Cain. And he says he knows just where to look for the guy who did it: At 815 Slaters Lane in Alexandria, Virginia, a low-slung former warehouse in the shadow of a coal plant.

Thanks for the post/ping back to this thread. Tremendous FReepers weighing in on this one. Fascinating reading, fascinating speculation.
(reading on from your #211)...
Hopefully it wasn’t Perry, but one of his ill chosen attack dogs.

Man who claims he “witnessed” it is backing Perry. Look it up. This is nothing more than astroturf from the desperate Perry campaign.
He is definitely in violation of RR’s 13th Commandment.
In fact, all these guys need to be set straight about how they deal with one another but who could that person be nowadays?
We hear that Herman Cain had ten days to figure out how he was going to respond to these charges, but he comes out first and says he can't remember the details about them (totally unprepared with a response). Then he goes on Greta and with great effort is able to remember more about it - THEN - and this is the kicker:
It comes out today, when he blamed Gov. Perry for this, that he says he briefed this guy that now works for Perry about the charges during an earlier political race...2006? I can't remember the exact year - but it wasn't that long ago. After he tried to act like he was unaware???
I cannot believe that he is blaming Perry for this based on someone that used to work for him, now works for Perry. If this is all he's got - HE IS DONE.
She has all the strength and all the vetting.
My God, who else could withstand the reading and searching of 26,000+ of their e-mails by the lamesteam, only to learn that she was a successful, dedicated and hard working Governor?
Sarah Palin didn’t run, because she prayed with her family for months, and finally two of her older children, said, “no.”
I suspect, too many serious death threats put too much strain on her kids, -— her own mother and father have to sleep with guns at their bedside.
This country is filled with haters and the GOP-E never gave her one helping hand and neither did anyone standing on that stage of candidates ever stick up for when she was slandered for the Tuscon shootings either. Never mind that she had campained for Congresswoman Bachmann and Governor Perry to cite two. Where were they when she could have used friends speaking up for her?
Only Speaker Newt has even mentioned her during a debate, when he said “Governor Palin was right when she cited death panels”, and he’s also the one who praised her when she was named VP.
Of course, every last one of them, save for Huntsman, wants her endorsement.
This is one ugly primary. I am glad I’m emotionally detached.
Conservatives acting like democrats, and to He// with the issues.
Dear God.
Thank you! I will listen to TGO’s rewinde!
Incorrect, ngat,
SEVERENCE PAY = ONE YEAR’S SALARY = $35K
It was a Title 7 sexual harassment allegation that resulted in a settlement.Oh, you're one of those California Psychics who advertises on George Noory's Coast-to-Coast AM at three in the morning--after Steve Deace.
Perry isn’t behind this...however, just remember this is how politics work. I suspect it is Newt. Several of us have done a lot of digging and it is pointing straight back at Newt.
I’ve read Grapes of Wrath more than a few times as well as watched the film several times. You are wrong. The folks suffering during the Great Depression did not want handouts, they wanted JOBS! They were duped by snarky union types as they made their way west from the Dust Bowl.
If that is true, he is off my list. I still don't think it's true though.
I don’t care how long you have been here.
I just don’t like the name calling of Freepers. You certainly, having been involved in all this news, can respond with your arguments.
I’d say Cain is probably looking at a lawsuit or at least a threat of one if he can’t back this up. Those are pretty serious charges. (Although I suspect that Perry probably won’t want to get dragged into this - he has enough problems with his own campaign.) But I have thought from day one that Cain’s big problem is that he shoots his mouth off without considering the implications, and also that he seems to believe the campaign is all about him.
No, it’s not: It’s about getting an effective, conservative GOP candidate to defeat Obama and get our country back on track again. Now I can honestly say that I do not think Cain is that one.
I’ve been withholding judgment for the last few days, just suggesting that he should have been prepared for this because it’s inevitable that any GOP candidate is going to be virtually strip-searched in public, but accusing a rival campaign of doing this is simply wrong. It shows that Cain is not ready for prime-time.
There was an article approximately a wk ago stating to the effect that the Perry campaign was going to go after Cain.
My father lived through those times, if he was alive and could type, he’d have a headful to tell you about those people. They were almost the equivalent of OWS. Liberal democrats almost to a man.
I know more about this that I can put in a little box such as this, they are the patriarchs of modern liberalism, and damn near no one that’s honest can refute it.
(Although I suspect that Perry probably wont want to get dragged into this - he has enough problems with his own campaign.) But I have thought from day one that Cains big problem is that he shoots his mouth off without considering the implications, and also that he seems to believe the campaign is all about him.
Don’t look now, but the Perry campaign is now trying to pin this on Romney. I sure hope Perry can back this up:
I consider that less of a political impediment than Perry's...a mouth that can barely work even in a debate.
OTOH, what if it's Herman just shooting off his mouth again without having all the facts as he has been known to do?
It’s pointing back to Mars - or maybe Jupiter - or maybe Uranus...er...
This is standard journalistic stuff. I don’t think it “points back” to anybody, although I’m sure the impetus probably came from Obama in some way. It’s a simple fact that any GOP candidate who looks promising is going to be given a full GI series in public.
What’s important is how they respond, and so far, Cain has done everything wrong, from his first denials of knowing anything about something that now he says he was asked about in 2006, to his bit-by-bit admissions, to his attempt to deflect everything now by screaming that one of his rivals did it.
And no, he’s not like Palin. She’s honorable and he is not.
