Until the early 60s Americans of African descent were not allowed to hold Priesthood until LDS President David O. McKay had a vision that they should be allowed.

Ah, that’s what they say in public.
What happens in the voting booth is private.
Most all schools are sucking on the government teat, and so well bow and scrape before members of Congress. There’s very few schools that have the spine to tell Congress to STFU and go to hell. They should, but they don’t.

That’s a big part of it, but there was large growth of illegals from south of the border, as well as people moving in from other states. I seriously doubt that anyone from any other region can visually or viscerally relate to how fast Vegas grew since 1990, especially if they are from stagnant areas with very limited growth like the midwest or northeast industrial cities.

I noticed that as I read through the thread. It was 'fixed' when I got in it; thus didn't see how it was to begin with. Kinda like the way MORMON, Inc. has 'fixed' most of it's history.

I came thru Vegas back in ‘63, on a Honda 50 cc motorcycle.
The road south to the dam was a dinky two-laner.
MY next trip there was in ‘94.
I thought I was in the middle of the main runway at DFW airport!

WHOA!! Disagreeing with the PROPHET gets you on the slippery slope to APOSTACY!! http://lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/od/2?lang=eng Huntsman has (rightfully) tossed the first 11 "prophets" of the Lds church -- along with all their general authorities -- under the bus.
The question is: Will other Mormons follow?
Will they publicly pinpoint of false teachings/errors of its leaders thru the first 150 years of its existence?

There's a long story behind this thread.
It began on Bloggers and personals as a statement of my own idea, that there is a Romney-Marriott-NRA connection that could be investigated.
The NRA connection is the pertinent point
As a history major and former librarian, I like to cite supporting literature. I had done that when posting my thoughts, in the morning, on other websites
The other websites to which I posted did not have the same compartmentalized structure as FR. There's usually a place to place a screenname and a box to enter a message.
When I came here, I tried, in various ways, to present my argument in a coherent manner.
FR did not accept sources I had used previously (like Bloomberg) so I looked around to find another source.
I made the mistake, here, of deciding to lead with Vallejo's column and of posting the link to it the top of the thread. Her column had made no material contribution to my idea. It merely corroborated facts that most politically informed people already knew about Romney.
I was accused of stealing and plagiarizing, so the authorship and date were changed and the 10-month old article was placed into "breaking news."
The original title of my thread was
"Romney has close, personal ties with former head of Natl Rest. Association, Dick Marriott"
I asked that my title be replaced by Vallejo's, in order to be more accurate.
I know, now, that when I first posted this thread I should have explained MY idea, kept MY date and authorship and NOT cited anything.
I should have let Freepers do their own fact checking.

The Articles of Faith
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
|
- We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
- We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.
- We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
- We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
- We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
- We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
- We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
- We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
- We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory. - We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may
- We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
- We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of PaulWe believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Marriott gave $1 million to Nixon in 1972, but I didn’t know that he was a George Romney advocate in 1968 before Romney confessed to having been “brainwashed.”

That sign blew down last year. We put it back but is not as tall. We bought a new electric sign that can be on at night. We installed it inside the Tbird uprights.
