Our new national poll finds Herman Cain is the breakaway frontrunner for the 2012 Republican nomination despite the fresh disclosure that he faced sexual harassment in the 1990s.
More Republicans and independents than ever say they want Herman Cain to win the Republican nomination.
Our national scientific poll was conducted last night, two days after the Cain controversy erupted and one day after Cain emphatically denied ever committing sexual harassment.
Among Republicans, Cain tops his next closest challenger, Mitt Romney, 33%-18%. They were followed by Newt Gingrich at 17% and Rick Perry at 12%.
Independents favored Cain over Romney 30%-11%, with Ginrich at 9% and Perry at 6%.
Among Republicans and independents combined, Cain garnered 32%, Romney 15%, Gingrich 13%, and Rick Perry 9%.
The poll question: “Who do you want to win the 2012 Republican presidential nomination – Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, or someone else?”
Our national scientific telephone survey was conducted November 1, 2011. We interviewed 1,032 registered voters – 417 Republicans (margin of error +/- 5%) and 343 independents (margin of error +/- 5%). The combined tally of 760 Republicans and independents has a margin of error of +/- 4%.

It may be an Alinsky tactic by the democrat party but I don’t find it to be outside the realm of possibility that it could have also come from the campaign of mitt the twit.

Did you see Cain on Special report last nght, with the panel. he was so cool, relaxed..comfortable, like a man who knows tha he did nothing wrong, and has nothing to hide. ou can’t fake that.
I’m 100% Newt! Cain? No way. 999 is crap. Cain has a real hard time explaining things...he was on BO last night...he is really light years behind Newt on the issues. He is no way Presidential material....no way.

I really think it may have been Romney who leaked it.
Romney thought he was a shoe in till Cain showed up.

That’s the even bigger news in this.
Apparently either (1) Voters believe Romney is behind the smear, or (2) voters are so mad at the establishment media/GOP over this they are taking it out on the establishment candidate.
My sentiments exactly. This is the first poll I've seen where it looks like Romney is slipping. The normal case is that he holds his precious 23%.

Exactly. Gee, Bill Clinton is a rapist and as usual the Democrats are pushing a candidate, his wife, who is an enabler and only cares that he got caught. Can you imagine what kind of morally depraved President she would make? These two as well as he current one should be in jail cells. The Democrats have a penchant for choosing the lowest denominator candidates.
