Poll Says Cain, Romney Tied In Florida

Herman Cain is statistically tied for first place with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney among registered Republicans in the key early voting state of Florida, according to a new Suffolk University/WSVN-TV poll.

Phone calls for the survey were wrapping up as news broke that Cain faced allegations of sexual harassment while head of the National Restaurant Association -- allegations that could affect his candidacy. The poll shows that the former Godfather's Pizza CEO remains a favorite in Florida just over a month after he won the state's straw poll -- the event that marked the beginning of the "Cain surge" and Texas Gov. Rick Perry's fall.

Cain took second place with 24 percent support, behind Romney who took 25 percent. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich came in third with 11 percent and Perry placed fourth with nine percent. Some 20 percent of Sunshine State Republicans said they were still undecided.

That writer kept calling Anderson a “gentlemen”. Is he indicating that Anderson is two faced? Anderson is definitely not a gentleman. And if he was responsible for tipping sealed information to Politico to hurt Cain and help Romney, (to whom he donated $1000) though I think the entire matter should be chalked up to a great big NOTHING, Anderson should be exposed for what he did.

I can't find any news story that links to this yet, but YouGov.com just published their latest weekly national poll, with Cain=28, Romney=24

http://cdn.yougov.com/downloads/releases/econ/20111022_econToplines.pdf

http://today.yougov.com/economist-poll-archive/

I updated the chart below with that addition...

With 3 most recent YouGov polls included

Much like what the government does with unemployment statistics, the following chart represents a 4-poll "rolling average" for the latest 20+ polls listed at RealClearPolitics.com (plus recent weekly national polls from YouGov).

I also weighted the polls by their size. For example, a poll with a survey size of 1000 was weighted proportionately heavier than an 324 survey size.

Weighted 4-Poll Rolling Averages of the latest 20+ Polls listed at RCP [as of Nov 1st]
plus the "YouGov" 10/25, 10/18 and 10/11 polls inserted chronologically

Perry seems to continue his slide, and when SNL starts spoofing Perry as slurring his speech, hiccuping/stuttering, and using bizarre hand gestures, I imagine Perry might slide a little lower.

"Kevin, I want to tha{hic}, I want thank you..."

Is Rick Perry drunk??? Full Cornerstone speech

Bachmann and Santorum need to drop out soon after Iowa results. They will be draining the margin necessary to overwhelm Romney. If they stay in too long, Romney could win because his supporters do not divide votes since there is no other candidate to the left of Romney.

This explains why the Romney people are allegedly pulling out all the stops to destroy Cain. He can beat them and he is NOT going away.

” He is what he is and makes no apologies for it. I don’t think the beltway denizens quite know what to make of him. GO CAIN!!! “

And therein lies their problem. Obama has shown himself to be a reader, and not a problem solver.

Cain, appears to be closer to the average person who wants to succeed and along the way hits a few challenges, but solves them himself.

Thats what we need in these times, instead of quick one liners, or grandiose do nothing lectures.

” Krautie is a former speech writer for Mundale...that says all you need to know about his true colors. He’s NOT a conservative, he just tries to play one on TV.”

Agree. He and the assistant editor, blonde hair, who sits in the middle, impress me as “ professorial” in their analysis,
and if you don’t pay attention over time you actually think they have some conservative leanings.

Sort of like Bill O’Reilly. Looking out the people, but we find out the person he’s really looking out for is HIM
