In an election season that already has taken more than its share of unlikely turns, few moments have seemed more improbable than the crowd scene Friday afternoon at a Chick-fil-A along a busy suburban thoroughfare here. At least 400 people jammed the restaurant, leaving those in the back straining to get even a glimpse of a man whose presidential candidacy had been left for dead not five months ago.
Against the glassed-in playground stood Newt Gingrich, microphone in hand, promising: If youre with me, I think we will win the most decisive election in modern times, and I think we will win it by a shockingly big margin.....

Newt is never going to go anywhere. He has a long history of talking a good game then trashing the Conservative movement.
In a choice between Conservative principals and political expediency, Newt has chosen expediency every time. Conservative voters remember his trash talking Paul Ryan, his chastising them for not supporting Dede Scuafasa, his “middle way on immigration” pandering etc etc etc.
Newt has gone as high as he is ever going to go.
Caught something on the radio news about Newt playing to a crowd in Iowa, you know, corn country. No thanks.
Hate to say it as I don’t want to sound as though I’m pickin’ on ya, but that tagline sucks.
Although as I explained in yesterdays post requesting to be on the ping list that I’m NOT a Cainiac, but will vote for him if he wins the nomination I have to protest the use of the term indicating him as less qualified than Obama.
Obama HATES our Constitution, thus this country as the country is great because of the Constitution. That in itself makes Cain a much more qualified individual than Obama, and Cain’s experience in business, and in NGO affairs is superior as well to that of Obama, but mostly combine what experience Cain has with his love of country, and you have more qualification to be the POTUS of this Nation than Obama tenfold, or more.
I think that tagline is a gagline, and will do more harm to your candidate as people will relate, if they read it as a non truth, and thus it turns your attempt at positive thinking into a negative. The opposite you desire.
Just my opinion, and thanks for the ping.
Twenty people paid $500 for that plate of chicken to meet with him. Not bad! At least Mr. Speaker has a serious plan for our future and he’s been one of the two adults in all of the debates, which he’s won, BTW.
yeah like being the brains behind the FIRST GOP congress in 40 years in 1994 and balancing the budget over the objections of a popular president Bill Clinton, ending welfare and shutting down federal spending for 2 months battling the Rats in D.C. No one running has got the resume of Newt, Newt is a PROVEN conservative, a proven leader and he is thoughtly vetted by a hostle press. Hands down Newt is the best CONSERVATIVE candidate running.
I have repeatedly denounced the politics of personal destruction and reject the kind of scurrilous media stories that used unnamed sources to attack my friend Herman Cain. The American people deserve a healthy policy debate, and our campaign will continue to highlight the critical distinctions in policy.
And that's what it's supposed to be about, not personalities. People here who are throwing themselves at the feet of a personality are doing exactly what the libs did with Obama. My advice: Put not your trust in princes or in the sons of men.
I agree with you.
But methinks Conservatives aren't really serious about winning the WH. I think the plan is to go with an unknown, overlook poor debating skills and highly questionable policy proposals .... and then complain with a self-righteous vigor for another four years after Cain loses.
Maybe Gingrich was once a conservative, but that was a long time ago.
Underestimating Newt could be just as fatal as overestimating Cain.
I like Newt. But the fact he’s getting good press from the Communists at the Washington Post should be a warning sign to the “folks”.
We can do worse than Newt as our nominee and I believe people are eager, even hellbent, on doing just that.
Yup. Lotta Newt lickers lately.
“Newt lickers”... how very creative..... you must be very smart.
Gee, I wonder what I should call you.
Agreed.
I don't think it's anything as formal as a plan, I think it's just a disorganized flailing around. You only need to see how many non-Romney leading contenders we've had to know it's so.
If Romney's the nominee, conservatives'll blame the establishment, media-bias and dirty tricks. Cry me a river.
It amazes me to see people, who for years said the GOP nominee needed to be Palin because she's the only one to be truly vetted, flocking to Cain. Suddenly vetting doesn't matter. Suddenly outrage over Obama's inexperience doesn't apply.
Cain's a great manager with a sharp analytical mind but he isn't taking himself seriously as a candidate any more then Perry took himself when he entered unprepared. I wish Cain rose to the occasion.
Conservatives, Tea Parties and Republicans just cannot get out of their own way in 2012. Obama will be reelected and maybe even with another all Democrat-controlled Congress.
Newt is experienced nationally, his knowledge and understanding of the issues is second to none in this race, he's knows the media's games, he's a known quantity and he can explain and defend his positions. He's flawed--like all the rest--but the qualities he brings are all essential elements to winning and getting America back on track.
