Cain Details Gesture That Led To Sex Accusation
The Washington Examiner ^ | October 31, 2011 | Byron York Chief Political Correspondent

Posted on 10/31/2011 3:00:45 PM PDT by Southnsoul

Cain spoke in response to detailed questioning from Fox News' Greta van Susteren, who led Cain through the facts of the case in an extended interview. That interview was taped to be shown on Fox Monday night.

Cain told van Susteren that he remembered one woman who was a writer in the Association's communications department. "I can't even remember her name, but I do remember the formal allegation she made in terms of sexual harassment," Cain said. "I turned it over to my general counsel and one of the ladies that worked for me, the woman in charge of human resources. They did investigate…and it was found to be baseless."

Van Susteren asked Cain how often he saw the woman. "I might see her in the office because her office was on the same floor as my office," Cain said. Van Susteren asked whether the woman traveled with Cain, who spent a lot of time on the road speaking to restaurant associations around the country. "No, never," Cain said.

Van Susteren asked what Cain did that led to the accusation. There were reportedly more than one accusations in the complaint, but Cain said he recalled just one incident. "She was in my office one day, and I made a gesture saying -- and I was standing close to her -- and I made a gesture saying you are the same height as my wife. And I brought my hand up to my chin saying, 'My wife comes up to my chin.'" At that point, Cain gestured with his flattened palm near his chin. "And that was put in there [the complaint] as something that made her uncomfortable," Cain said, "something that was in the sexual harassment charge."

“This little dust up will blow over soon enough. God often allows these false accusations to rise up and then promotes his servants with blessings afterwards. Better that it happens now than in 2012. Takes the air right out of the liars balloons.”

I think what the Perry people are going to find is that it’s hard to repeat something that nearly worked in the past - you have to match it PERFECTLY.

In the case of Clarence Thomas (their model), what nearly sunk him was that the DEMOCRATS got to vote on him. The Senate was a Democrat majority, and Thomas just barely got enough of them to still support him.

In this case, the Dems DO NOT get to vote (other than cross-overs for Romney/Perry). So you have a conservative base this is ANGRY AS HELL at these tactics and I really doubt any of us are going to switch to Romney/Perry because of this crap.

So I agree, it will blow over, and it will likely strengthen Cain, as CONSERVATIVES send a message regarding these tactics.

It could be the RATS, Romney, or Perry. There’s a reason Perry suddenly decided to do more debates. Deep down in the dark corners of my heart, I hope it was Romney or Perry just to knock them out of the race but it really doesn’t much matter who it is because Cain has enough back bone to rise above all this hoo-ha.

The serious nature of the charge makes it IMPERATIVE to put an end to the continued campaign of Herman Cain.

Seriously? The accuser was a closet malcontent, and likely had issues with authority BEFORE she came up with this allegation.

Which was never substantiated.

Not racism, not sexism, it was HEIGHTISM, a most dreadful form of discrimination.

But the world has always considered the taller person to be smarter, stronger and more attractive to others. With rare exceptions, world leaders and even most local leaders tend to be taller than most of their constituents.

"I had wondered how long it would take the Leftist establishment to come up with a slander of Herman Cain."

It might not be them. Romney's team wasn't above sleaze back in '08, and Rove is no saint either. It's not just the Lefty establishment that Cain flusters, but the Rockefeller Republicans as well.

The Demon-rats are grasping at straws here like the drowning over a life raft. It’s going to be interesting how pathetic they get in the coming months. They will do everything they possibly can to ensure “The One” doesn’t have to debate Cain because they know full Cain will obliterate him, and being that the majority of them are stump ass stupid, I bet it involves blatant racism which will dig them an even deeper hole. Bring-it-on morons.

That is my opinion too. Since Politico broke this, I believe Romney is behind this as he did in 2008 elections.

The greatest support we can give him right now is MONEY!!!!

Except for their own money being involved, the GOP contenders are way behind the Imposter in Chief with donations.
How about supporting him with money? I am sending a small amount now- more later.

If anyone can listen to Juan Williams on Hannity today, mark it and record. He totally blew Anita’s testimony. He worked for the Post and said it was all a job on Clarence Thomas. He’s this stinks the same way.

If we have learned anything from 40-plus years of the modern feminist movement, it's that if a woman feels that a man is guilty of something, he is guilty, and any attempt to defend himself against the accusations just makes him more guilty.

The only exception is if the man is a politician who votes to support the right to an abortion.

“So you have a conservative base this is ANGRY AS HELL at these tactics and I really doubt any of us are going to switch to Romney/Perry because of this crap.”

I think that’s a good point. I am undecided on which candidate to support at this point. The fact that Cain is being attacked by the establishment makes me MORE likely to support him. Frankly, it doesn’t matter to me if Politico has videotape of Cain killing babies or kittens... I simply dismiss anything the State media says. You can no more believe them, than you can Pravda. They must be very afraid of Cain, which means maybe I should think about voting for Cain.
