I will say this much for the former Governor Foster of Louisiana. Back in 2002, when Derek Todd Lee, the I-10 serial killer was active, he acknowledged the state could not always be there, and advised the women of the state, “You have the right to get a gun permit. Learn to use it.”
WOW!!
I AM VERY IMPRESSED. Finally, the truth. Way past time to eradicate rabid animals masquerading as humans.
What kind of “attack” was this?
And individual, or a “mob of yutes”?
I’m way ahead of your Shire Reeve...
You have the right to get a gun permit.”
If you have to get a permit, your right has been taken away. Sad, because people don’t even notice the fact that their right was abdicated already.
Sheriff Wright talks the way people used to talk. It’s a damn shame how many people don’t think like he does anymore.
I bet many of his comments would give progressives heart palpatations.
“He said Lance “doesn’t fight police or men folk — he just goes after women.” He said Lance is not married because, “No woman can stay married to him because he beats them down too much.”
Wright said, “This is a horrific crime her life was threatened so many times.”
Wright said he knows “liberals” don’t think you can just keep people in jail, but that Lance “should not have the right or opportunity to violate a good, upstanding woman.”
Wright said, “It’s too bad someone with a concealed weapons permit didn’t walk by. That would fix it.” He said people are tired of doing the right thing and criminals getting away with their actions.
He said several times, “I want you to get a concealed weapons permit.”
Wright said, “I’m tired of looking at victims saying, ‘There’s life after this’ I’m tired of saying, ‘We’re sorry, we can’t keep them in jail.’”
Wright said in his view gun control is, “How fast can you can get the barrel of your gun back on the target?”
Wright said the attack is not the fault of Millken Park. He said, “It’s a nice place for families.”
He said officers patrol the area all the time and respond to various calls there. He said, “Don’t blame anyone for having an animal on their property We can’t get it all.”
He encouraged women to walk in groups, and he ended by saying again, “I want you to get a concealed weapons permit. Don’t get Mace. Get a firearm.”
And then he said, “I think I better stop before I get sanctioned.”
One male attacking a female walking her dog. I liked the Sheriff’s explanation of ‘gun control’ ... ‘how fast you can get the barrel of your gun back on target.’
There are.

Must not have been much of a dog.
Too bad she didn’t have a “substantial” dog.
Of course, she wouldn’t have been attacked in that case.
A REAL MAN wanting to protect women. God bless him and I hope the women take his advice.

Philosophically, I agree with you, but to be fair to Foster and put the quote in context, it was his administration that had made the effort to get Louisiana from a “may issue,” to, “shall issue,” status.
This sheriff and I are on the same wavelength. Blow big holes in these vermin and save the taxpayers some $$.
You’re right, and that is some progress. It just irks me that even the well intentioned political figures don’t realize what an oxymoron our rights have become (and most don’t care).
P.S. I like the handle. :-)
Is SC an open-carry state?
No....
Too bad. Is it difficult to get a permit? Is he talking about a CC permit, or a permit just to purchase?
Well said. At the very most, it ought to be a shall-issue license.
Reasonable folks do not want their children playing in the park along side a bunch of knee-jerk shooters. The sole purpose of the license would be to protect the public and property, and would be issued only after applicant (who was not serving a term of parole or probation) demonstrated reasonably competent handling.
