GOP Insiders Near Unanimous in Predicting Romney Nomination (Includes Full List of GOP Insiders)
National Journal ^

Posted on 10/28/2011 9:43:08 AM PDT by Windy City Conservative

The large Republican presidential field, along with the dramatic surges and collapses of several of its candidates, may ultimately be much ado about nothing. That, at least, is the conclusion of the Republican strategists surveyed in this week's National Journal Political Insiders Poll, who almost unanimously identified Mitt Romney as the most likely candidate to win the nomination. In the five times the GOP Insiders have been asked that question in 2011, Romney has never surrendered the top spot.

The key is for conservatives to take the Congress.

That is exactly right...the key!

I will NOT be voting for Romney which does not mean a vote for Obama as many would try and say as such. It means we know at least where Obama stands and can fight him....with Romney he'll be a moving target and you'll never know what you're going to be up against..let Obama take the fall and we'll get the right people into congress to stop him from further harm to this country.

Romney will be far worse than Obama....he's the Democrates man of the hour.

All you Tea Party Hobbits get inline and vote for who the RNC tells you to.

Me, I've always had a problem with someone telling me what to do. Maybe Going Rogue.

But, ignoring him if he gets the nomination is a vote for Obama.

Sure is, and if they put him on the ticket, it will be on them, because they have been warned many times.

I will write in my choice if they put Romney at the top, period.

Note to GOP: I will not cast a vote for Romney. That is all.

Me either!

However, next November, I will proudly march to my polling place and with head held high, intense purpose to my step, and the courage of (what I hope will be) millions...I will resolutely and emphatically vote AGAINST the stain and the current regime!

What makes you think a liberal like romney would nominate a Thomas, Scalia or Roberts? I would look for another Souter liberal more than anything.

A liberal is a liberal, is a liberal, they cannot help themselves.

Yes we do. It’s all about the Supreme Court.

IMO, and I'm a MA resident, Romney is better at fighting conservatives than fighting liberals -- and has more taste for it! I doubt that he'd nominate anyone the left wouldn't find at least acceptable. And the Republicans would likely go along with him, whereas they might actually fight Obama -- four years without a Supreme Court appointee doesn't sound bad!

The Tea Party Freshman have been neutered, and now the Tea Party needs to re-invent its enthusiasm.

Bingo!

Not like it didn't happen before, hope we can send in some reinforcements that won't be afraid to buck the leadership.

Romney vs Obama is a loss for America. Doesn't matter who wins, America loses.

Doesn't matter if Obama wins if the alternative is Romney.

In fact, it would be better for Obama to win rather than Romney as the continuing degradation of the future of America will be much more easily pinned upon the dems if Obama is at the helm. If Romney is the POTUS, the ignorant electorate will equate the downfall with republicans.

A Romney win means nothing changes and our decline continues. An Obama win, if we have no better alternative than Romney, insures that the ignorant electorate understands completely who and what is driving our country over the cliff.

“The Tea Party Freshman have been neutered, and now the Tea Party needs to re-invent its enthusiasm.”

The Tea Party enthusiasm is great BUT, maybe this disappointment with the results of the 2010 mid-term will make them realize it’s going to be a lot harder than going to some rallies and getting a few marginally conservative congressmen and senators elected.

If everybody that is inclined toward the tea party and went to a tea party rally and voted Tea-Party sentiment in 2010 would go here: http://www.theprecinctproject.wordpress.com and follow the instructions, we could take the country back without firing a shot.

“No votes have been cast in the Primary. IIRC, Romney is not polling in the lead, anywhere, except perhaps in some Blue states.

So where the heck do these clowns get off calling the race for GOP candidate?”

These so-called Republican Statist know what's good for us and we should know our place. We need to fall in line and blindly follow their commands. Bullsh$t, we all need to do our part to prove them wrong. Let us not forget what we did in the 2010 elections. We'll see what happens after the primaries leave the Rino infested Northeast states. We can make it happen again. Anyone but Obama and Obama lite.

Thanks for the post. Someone who spends his whole life in the “circle”, and has invested years of work for the party simply cannot see any other scenario other than the establishment pick getting the nomination. Those people don’t know us, and don’t want to know us.

I also suspect that Karl Rove reads FR. I caught a bit of Hannity’s show the other day and he was basically trying to respond to a lot of the comments made about him here.

_____________________________________________________________

Aww. I missed it. I hit the mute button as soon as I see his mug. His nickname “Tokyo Rove” is well earned. The propaganda machine that is Fox news, in the bag for Romney, is sickening. I will never vote for Romney. If that’s what our now Godless country wants they should get it full bore with Obama.

emphatically vote AGAINST the stain and the current regime!

I will write in the candidate that I think would do the best job. I am weary of the "lesser of two evils" approach. My vote is worth more than that. If everyone did this, we wouldn't have to settle for those clods chosen by insiders.

I wish we had had computers and FR when Reagan was running the first time. I's like to see what discussions may have gone on.

I am really getting tired of having this discussion each time an election rolls around. I am really tired of making that "lesser of two evils" decision or feeling impotent as I have no choice but to vote for the chosen republican candidate.

The big issue I try to keep in focus is the Supreme Court. That will be Obama's legacy. But, it may not matter if he is elected again, because he has now started his movement towards establishing the precedent for bypassing congress when he "can't wait."

I take some comfort in hearing a speech like Paul Ryan gave this week and in knowing the people like Marco Rubio are out there gaining the experience it takes to move into the most powerful position in the world.

But, if they don't step up soon we may no longer be the world leaders and our objective will possibly be in dealing with foreign forces on our own soil.

I have to believe in my heart that Romney is willing to put the good of the country first in any decision he would make as POTUS. That cannot be said for Obama.

If it is Romney and if he were to win, it is up to us to hold him accountable and push him to the right. It will be up to the Tea Party to keep the momentum going.
