GOP Insiders Near Unanimous in Predicting Romney Nomination (Includes Full List of GOP Insiders)
National Journal ^

Posted on 10/28/2011 9:43:08 AM PDT by Windy City Conservative

The large Republican presidential field, along with the dramatic surges and collapses of several of its candidates, may ultimately be much ado about nothing. That, at least, is the conclusion of the Republican strategists surveyed in this week's National Journal Political Insiders Poll, who almost unanimously identified Mitt Romney as the most likely candidate to win the nomination. In the five times the GOP Insiders have been asked that question in 2011, Romney has never surrendered the top spot.

These GOP Insiders live off of big government, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.

If conservatives would just take the House and the Senate, they could stymie anything Obama tries. For that matter, they could stymie anything Romney tries too, except they won’t. The key is for conservatives to take the Congress.

The word is conservatives (not (R)s). Boner has convinced over half of these freshman (R)s to succumb to his whims. This congress is so corrupt - from right to left, upside to downside, in to out. 90% plus are all whores.

They’re trying to make Mitt seem inevitable, and as he stumbles even more, they become more and more desperate. Mitt’s support is maxed at about 25% ( if that) and he is anathema to the GOP conservative base. He is toast.

If “GOP Insiders” want to asure the re-election of Barack Obama then they should DEFINITELY make sure Mitt Romney gets their nomination.

After all, why should anyone choose “Barack-Lite” when they can vote for the real deal?

If Mr. Romney is the repugnicans’ nominee then I will either leave the ‘president’ line blank on my 2012 ballot, or, as I did in 2008, write in my own name.

“they could stymie anything Obama tries. “

Supreme Court, and Executive Orders. These are worrisome to me. I despise romney, but will pull the lever for him. But I will be really, really wee wee’d up!

...a win for Obama will be devastating for the nation

...as will a win for Romney.

That's why "GOP Insiders" should choose a different candidate.

“He’s a big “D” democrat”

So is the Republican ‘insider’ group. Big Gov’t, Big spending. I do not know the difference between Obama and the Republican ‘insider’.

Yes, but that was before the take over. All what we’ve been taught about three branches have been, or are being shredded by the communists in power. With millions of non-whites having millions of babies inside our boarders, the republicans are making sure they are not sent to the camps, and are collaborating to secure themselves a place in the communist party.

Boehner has stymied all Tea Party enthusiasm from November 2010. The Tea Party voters thought that the Republican House would actually hold Obama in check and take every action they could to roll back Obama’s legislation, but they have only done symbolic gestures and they actually say that they are living up to their “Pledge to America”. What a joke. The Tea Party Freshman have been neutered, and now the Tea Party needs to re-invent its enthusiasm.

I’ve been thinking the same thing the last few months. It’s almost like the Republicans in Congress are trying to earn themselves a seat on the escape pod for when the @#$% hits the fan and China comes a calling to collect the debt and the interest in one big hit.

Twenty-five percent could be enough to win if the conservative vote is split...

But, ignoring him if he gets the nomination is a vote for Obama. We have to remember that, because a win for Obama will be devastating for the nation.

Ditto. I got into a dustup with a few other FReepers last week after making that same statement. I don't like Romney... but I DESPISE Obama.

But it won’t be..trust the base...they’ll figure it out..Basically, there are three now who want to be the anti-Romney..Cain, Perry, and Newt..and I think that two of them will be on the ticket together. They all seem to like each other, and have been fairly circumspect in critisizing each other. Perry’s NOT a kamikazee guy..if her sees by early next year that he can’t break out, get back on top, he’ll drop out, and endorse someone..

I’ll take Romney over Obama any day of the week, but my long term goal is to stymie the influence of these GOP Insiders

If Romney is defeated in the primaries, that would go a long way toward taking the GOP back from the Roves and the Mehlmans. It must irritate them endlessly that Romney has fallen behind Cain in the polls, and can't cannot grow his support. I suspect they indulge in liberal-type rationalizing to explain that reality away.

I also suspect that Karl Rove reads FR. I caught a bit of Hannity's show the other day and he was basically trying to respond to a lot of the comments made about him here. It was more whining than explaining. "I'm just doing my job." Well if his job is to read the conservative electorate, he's failing.

Well, I hope Gingrich and one of the others bail soon, before they bankrupt each other. Its important to remember that their opponent is rich enough to finance his own campaign...

The usual suspects, Dana Perino, Ken Mehlman, etc.

sounds like RINOs Inc.....
hence giving the "nod" to Myth (OBama lite, no real difference)
but, he's our "Communist guy".
