Among those closely watching the Occupy Wall Street protests: the Smithsonian.
The National Museum of American History has dispatched representatives to collect materials, such as protest signs, from the demonstrations.
It is in pursuit of the museum's mission to "document the spirit of American democracy and the American political process, including how people express their points of view through political rallies, demonstrations and protests," the institution said in a statement.

In a sane world, that headline would be —
“Detectives Snap Up OWS Objects to be Submitted in Evidence”...
Just sayin’

Why, it’s almost as if someone there is prescient enough to realize six weeks in that this thing is going to be one of the most crucial, defining events in all of American History (wink wink-nod nod)
What foresight! /sarc

OWS is fake. The occupancy is fake.
SMITHSONIAN ought put the pics exposing this with the
fake exhibit, down the hall from the fake Obama BC.

Well lets hope someone was wise enough to bag and save the crap that guy left on a cop car. I'd hate to think future generations couldn't get the scoop on what this bunch is really like.

What a load. America isn't a true democracy and even if it was, this little street tantrum has nothing to do with democracy. This is a handful of marxists making demands in spite of losing an election.

The leftist curators will post the tea party collection next to the stinky hippy junk and claim “parity”.
this is just triangulation and will be used to diminish the tea party. The tea party is already being erased by sheer volume of hippie occupy propaganda.

I am not sure about the best way to preserve rotting garbage and human excrement for future generations. I suppose that they will need to encase these items in some type of clear plastic.
50 years in the future... "look Johny there is a piece of poop that was left behind by a street person who for a few brief days in the fall of 2011 was able to get in on the big party financed by philanthropist George Soros."

We know the Lefties redefine history—it is what Marxists do—to distort history so they can control how and what the useful idiots think. (Communism-good—Capitalism-bad).
A few fat elites can control all the masses and live in their palaces and jets—and regulate what can be said and done. They can force you to make your children into homosexuals and perverts by not allowing Christian ethics to be taught in the schools, forcing muslim tenants which is rife with pederasty. Not only that-—but we will make slaves of the few producers....for the good of the masses.
Hopefully, the producers don’t give up and quit so we all starve and end up in a chaotic orgasmic sewer which is the Marxist’s desire.

I'm sure this is just to balance-out all the Tea Party memorabilia they acquired.
Heh.

Will they put it right next to their TEA party exhibit? In 1997 or 1998 I was at the Smithsonian and they had an exhibit on "Impeachment". It showed Andrew Johnson and Richard Nixon. Note it left out Bill Clinton, who was impeached, and showed Richard Nixon, who wasn't. That's how they roll.
