Businessman Herman Cain is now atop the field of Republican White House hopefuls, squeaking past former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in the latest CBS News/New York Times poll.
Cain garnered 25 percent support of Republican primary voters in the poll released Tuesday, compared to Romney's 21 percent.
In early October, the two men were tied at 17 percent.

>The way I put the same point is that Cains sin is that he actually answers the question the best he can, without changing the subject or providing a canned answers.
>It gets him into little bits of trouble, but that he can get out of because people believe him.
I think you got it exactly right. He’s not a slick liar like Mittens. The 999 plan, while flawed, is still a concrete proposal and thinking outside the box. He’s not afraid to try out new ideas and work through them to come up with something simple and common-sense. That’s what a good CEO does.
I think Cain’s biggest problem (along with the MSM and RINO-SM (Fox)) is his lack of campaign money compared the flexible Mitt Gumby. It’s up to us in the trenches of America to pull him through. The country-club RINOs are all about Mittens and to hell with the country.
Yes. I am sick and tired of those pundits scooping the last shovel of dirt over Mr. Cain. Both of those two brain-dead bozos need to get off their butts and trek through the Midwest and west AND LISTEN to what is being said on local radio and TV.
Info about who was polled is here:

You are correct. The poll results with Cain having 25% percent are only from Republican primary voters. At the link they list out a little more info about sub-groups, but not everything.
Talk about keeping it simple. I love this new add
by Herman Cain. No fancy. It’s great.

There is a certain talk radio show host here in Boston (Jay Severin) who is absolutely in love with Mitt Romney - to the point of swooning. He is so angry with Cain that he's taken to making fun of him on the airwaves by playing his "Becky-becky-beckystan" quote over and over again in an attempt to make him seem like he's an idiot who doesn't care about Uzbekistan - or who runs it. (This all stems from a reporter that asked Cain if he knew who the leader of Uzbekistan was).
I wonder how Mitt Romney would respond if somebody asked him who ran Turkmenistan. Would Romney know? And if he didn't know, would Severin spend the next eight weeks trashing his boy idol?
I like Jay's show in general but I'm getting annoyed with his man-love for Mittens.
Mark Block addresses smoking role in latest Cain video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxd28bBqtBE
The funny thing is, that was actually just a video message from Mark Block sent to supporters by email. The media actually turned it into an ad for his campaign :-)
Right now Perry is just destroying himself. I want to see the real Rick Perry . . he needs to be who he is ,not who his handlers tell him to be.
Cain is a good man; he doesn’t stand a chance!
“...Romney made a HUGE gaffe last week with Im running for office for Petes Sake, I cant have illegals!
nothing wish-washy about that statement. it’s a terrible shock when a politician says something honest for a change isn’t it?
We should make sure Romney is not the nominee. But if our worst case scenario comes to pass and he is, he has to win. It’s not a cut and dry “both are bad” debate. Obama is DESTROYING the country. Romney would be bad but 4 years of Obama would be worse.
On a scale of 1-100 of “who should not be President” where 100 is “Best President in history” and 1 is “Worst president in history”. Obama’s a 1. Romney’s probably a 20 or 30.
Both are bad but Obama’s on a different level. He HAS to lose.
I do like Newt. Always respected his brilliance. The media appears to be a little nervous around him because he does not hesitate to correct or pounce on their every jab. No matter what anyone says about his baggage...he was responsible for the republican revolution. Surprised to see him in 3rd but whenever anyone listens to him...he inspires cheers
My gut feeling is that Cain is improving against Romney.
But I wouldn’t play Charmin with the paper any CBS/NYT poll is printed on.
I don't mind people pointing out details that the rest of us might not notice, but it bothers me when people start making stuff up. It seems to happen more more frequently.
But.... But.... But.....
Mitt is the only one who can beat Obama (spoken in my best sarcastic tone of voice)
Get on the Cain Train now boys and girls or find yourself stranded at the station with Romney and Perry.
Cain's foreign policy....
With clarity, identify enemies....
...and stop giving them money.
(works also for all enemies both foreign and domestic)
“This is the guy Rove said has faded, right? The one Hume and foxnews said is done?”
Hee hee hee, yep that would be the guy. None of the political pundits can understand why we like him even if he flubs a little now and again. His election will turn the good ol boy politics of this country on it’s head and give we the people some control again.
” Cain needs to clobber Romney on:
#1 Global warming
#2 Romneycare “
exactly!
What, you’re concerned about what the media will say? Look, friend, the media will invent stories and tell lies to destroy any threat to demrat Marxist candidates.
If you’re suggesting that Cain constrain himself to saying only things the media will not distort or otherwise lie about the man might just as well sit in the corner and keep his mouth shut.
What you don’t get is that the Marxist propaganda organs no longer control information. Conservatives certainly do not consider the media a source for factual info. We get our info from multiple internet sources. Also, because Cain is Black the media must be very careful about how they attack him.
The Marxists never considered they’d have a credible black candidate with which to contend. They’ve conditioned most blacks to be dependent on them. And those who choose not to be dependent they’ve been able to stiffle with the Uncle Tom accusation. Then along comes Cain. A self made man. A man who refuses to be the Marxist’s useful idiot. A man who is not afraid to give the Marxist b******s the finger.
The difference between you and Cain is stark. You’re afraid of saying what you believe because you might fail. Cain says what he believes because he believes he’s right.
Some people fear failure so much they never have the courage to stand up and be counted. This prevents them from being all they could be. Is this the kind of leader you really want?
While the rest of the Pubbie/conservative pres. primary field tries desperately to run from their past—or desperately avoid saying what they believe—Cain is doing just the opposite. He’s being honest with us.
I’ve not made up my mind about his 9-9-9 tax plan. But, in the absense of any other info, I will vote for the man because he is moral and understands he’s in a street fight for the soul of our country. In other words, I’m looking at the bigger picture.
