Texas Governor Rick Perry lost his cool, lost respect, and lost some supporters in Las Vegas. He might have also lost a prime opportunity to shape his image and get back on top in the race for the GOP nomination.

This is one issue where I am 100% behind Rick Perry. Romney has been ordained by the Republican establishment and he needs to be taken down. Cain doesn’t have the money so I’m happy to see RINO Rick spend his.

Debating shows the inner intelligence of a person.
You have to know the subjects discussed very clearly.Inside and out.
You have to think fast, and to come back with an appropriate response.
Perry did none of these, and stuck to his talking points given to him by his handlers.
Perry should have backed off on the gardener issue, because Romney had a good excuse for that.
Perry could not let it go, because he had nothing else to offer.
He looked dumb, and we all know there are dumb politicians out there. Perry is one of them.Just because you are a governor, does not mean that you are smart. It just means that you know how to campaign.
The most intelligent person at the debate was Newt, he is awesome in his debating skills.

“then we’re never going to elect anyone who has been successful enough to hire a contractor to do anything.”

The ‘so called contractor’ was a friend and Romney knew about the illegals and did nothing for over a year. They were at his home every week. This wasn't some one time thing for a roofing job.

Romney is a lying scumbag , always has been and always will be.

If Rick Perry can knock Romney off his perch, he can do the same with Obama. He will stare him in the eye when he does it. He even has most of the issues on his side.

I don’t care if Perry has to break a few debate rules and become a bully to do it.

Can you imagine pretty boy Romney asking Anderson for help when Obama goes after him?

Oh that’s right NONE of them have.
How many of the other candidates has work tirlessly to bring jobs to their states for the good of the Citizens?

Oh that’s RIGHT NONE.

GET IT?
You all are in for a rude awakening in regards to Perry. bet on it.

Perry just doesn't look or sound Presidential - and I find that disappointing. A strong Westerner is essential for the GOP. Romney ought to be spending most of his time these days riding horses in Utah, to dissipate his image as an East Coast bureaucrat. He isn't the right guy, but clearly the GOP big money has anointed him and that is going to be virtually impossible for the other candidates to overcome.

Romney as President won't be as bad as conservatives fear. He can't fix anything - Sarah Palin as President couldn't fix anything right now - but since the President is largely a figurehead in these times at least he looks the part.

That’s OK, as long as he keeps chipping away at Romney, they can take each other out.

I would love to see someone pepper Ibama with his own words while giving solid solutions on how they intend to fix the Ibama mess (or maybe call it “ Ibama’s quagmire”)

Ibama “acted stupidly” when it came to [fill in the blank] or, perhaps how they do not wish to “sit in the back seat” ect. ect.

Go team!

I was making a point that this was a weak attack - that almost no one is immune from. There are other much stronger and more legit issues to bring up.

You and I will cast the same amount of votes for Romney = 0. I see no profit in joining a race to prove that I hate him the most. 0 is 0.

“Can you imagine pretty boy Romney asking Anderson for help when Obama goes after him?”

When Andy Pooper told Perry he didn't answer his question, Perry didn't have any problem telling Pooper that ‘his job is the ask the questions and mine is to answer any way I want too.’

I don't think he would have any problem slapping Obumbler around either.

That’s an interesting analysis. I think a lot of folks miss the point that if there is a much more conservative congress elected - which is almost sure to happen - that we will get conservative government regardless of which Republican might happen to win. In some ways, winning the senate big and taking another 20-30 House seats is far more important than the Presidential election.

Bush 43 got some decent conservatives to back his moderate agenda - because he was President - but with that lesson fresh - I just don’t think the new conservatives in congress will make that same mistake. I think a congress will push the President to the right, not a President pushing congress to the center.

“The most intelligent person at the debate was Newt, he is awesome in his debating skills.”

I’ve noticed that as well. Whatever Newt’s “tarnished past”, why is it so hard to imagine that his experiences could actually make him much wiser and more effective this time around? Listen to the man and he sounds solid and presidential.

And yet we conservatives have to sit here mumbling, “He’s unelectable, he’s unelectable...”

Mutt Romney is a worthless gun-grabbin’, queer agenda pushin’, abortion lovin’ POS.

He will never be elected in any national election.

Dubya was at his best when he was “cowboy”. When he toned it down he was ineffective.

And he would stare him down while he did it.

Obama would never know when the next attack was coming.

Romney started the crap in earlier debates, Perry will finish it.

>> And yet we conservatives have to sit here mumbling, “He’s unelectable, he’s unelectable...” >>

I am perhaps changing my mind a bit on that. I have “written Newt off for good” about three times in the past 2 years - but I am beginning to think that he might just get back into viability for this reason: he would make the best case for Constitutional conservatism on the huge stage of the Presidential debates when going 1 on 1 with Obama. THAT in and of itself would be a huge gift for the nation to see. It would impact our entire cause and not just the Presidential election.

And I think some other folks are sensing it as well. Not ready to predict it yet, but I would be less shocked than I would have been 2 months ago. FTR, I was predicting back in January that Cain would become relevant as well.

Even though I do not like Romney, I do have to defend him on the gardener issue.
If my neighborhood is anything like Romney’s, he probably never even saw his gardeners during the year in question.
I live in a neighborhood which is upper middle class to very rich. Average size home ranges from 5000-10,000 square feet.
Except for me ( I do my own yardwork), most everyone here has gardeners, and they all look to be illegal .
The homeowners who employ these gardening companies are never home during the day, because they are all at work earning the money to afford their houses and lifestyle.
Their wives may be home during the day, but I am sure that the ethnicity of the help would not be a topic of conversation at the dinner table.
However,a lot of wives in my neighborhood are working professionals, they probably do not see their gardeners , either.

Started it? So what? Not the point. It does not help any of them to “finish it.”

You win the award for the one who hates Mitt the most. Congratulations! Now, to the issue of whether this helped Perry. I would say that his plummeting poll numbers and fund raising says HELL NO it did not help him.

I say that as someone who could support Perry.
