Texas Governor Rick Perry lost his cool, lost respect, and lost some supporters in Las Vegas. He might have also lost a prime opportunity to shape his image and get back on top in the race for the GOP nomination.

I like Perry, maybe my 2nd or 3rd choice - but I wish he would attack Obama as hard as he attacked Mitt. Mitt is stuck at 30% - whichever conservative attacks Obama the best will eventually get the nomination. Thinking Mitt is the problem is wrong headed.

What’s up with all these brilliant strategists Perry has? They are idiots.

The debates are the the end all. It is way too early in the game to draw any conclusions...

At the end of that debate...I’ve of the opinion that I wouldn’t want to see either in the White House. I think they both demonstrated that they ought to stay at the state level and be happy about that.

To be honest, it was wrong to allow all this debate business build up so early. We now all have very strong ideas about the candidates....and most aren’t exactly a 4-star or 3-star player.

Didn't most of Newt campaign staff quit to join the Perry campaign? Hmmm, makes one wonder.

It depends on the goal. If the goal is to win the nomination, it was a bad strategy. If the goal is to destroy Mitt, it was a good strategy. I am not so sure.

>>> Anderson Cooper won then. >>>

I started a thread about 30 minutes into the debate with that theory in fact. And by winning, I meant he effectively kept fire off Obama and helped direct it on each other.

I submit he did just that.

the moderator encouraged the republicans to go after each other.

but most of them chose not to discuss obama’s policies.

perry came in to prove himself, after 4 disappointing performances.

he looked argumentative and petty.

romney looked argumentative and petty.

santorum looked argumentative and petty.

Perry’s cowboy act made him look a lot more like former President George W. Bush than the governor would ever like to be. This is not good when trying to look presidential heading into 2012.

Does he mean former President George W. Bush who refused to defend himself, Conservatives, his supporters, the GOP, etc, etc.?

“Our loudest opponents on the left are never going to like us, so let’s quit trying to curry favor with them,” -Rick Perry @ Republican Leadership Conference - June 2011

I'm pretty sure Mittens and his supporters fall into the group he was referring too.

That's the ticket.

Yep. Here’s how I see it: Newt loses the typical strategists and he goes up. Cain has no typical strategists and he goes up. Perry and Bachmann hire strategists and they go down. Mitt has strategists out the ying yang and he’s in neutral.

Am I spotting a trend here?

Let’s see since your a Mormon, and your attacking Perry I will assume you are actually a Romney Supporter running another of your smear jobs.

but it looks like you have plenty of Cainiacs working with you.

When Perry entered the race, I was very happy that we had an alternative to Romney.
After watching his debate performances, I just think that Perry is a very dumb man.
He does not look intelligent at all.
Obama would win every debate against Perry.
Now, I am on the Cain train.

and most aren’t exactly a 4-star or 3-star player.

Which is nonsense. Based on the hyper negative knee jerk cynicism wrongly considered "smart" in the current media/political world, Reagan would of been considered a 1 star playeb by today's standards of arrogant, hyper negative, knee jerk ignorance.

All of these candidates, except Romney and Huntsman, would be a much better President then any of the people currently in DC.
