WASHINGTON (KPHO) - Arizona Sen. John McCain is critical of President Barack Obama's announcement that all U.S. troops will be pulled from Iraq by the end of 2011.
"Today marks a harmful and sad setback for the United States in the world," McCain said in a statement Friday afternoon. "I respectfully disagree with the President: this decision will be viewed as a strategic victory for our enemies in the Middle East, especially the Iranian regime, which has worked relentlessly to ensure a full withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq."
McCain said the decision is "a consequential failure of both the Obama Administration - which has been more focused on withdrawing from Iraq than succeeding in Iraq since it came into office - as well as the Iraqi government."
McCain said he fears the withdrawal will jeopardize the success of democratic government in Iraq.

You can rest assured that Iraq will be taken over by Iran days after the USA military departs the country. And......you can rest assured that is just want POTUS Obama and has worked diligently for!!! Egypt now in the full control of the “Muslim Brotherhood”!!! Libya soon to be in the total control of the “Muslim Brotherhood” And......Afghanistan falling to the Taliban!!! Granted he had lots of bad advice from bad actors, Islamic Appeasers/Supporters (THANKS to the Traitorous, Jihadist-supporting, bottom-feeding, rat basturd (sic) GROVER NORQUIST and his ilk) as well as many State Dept, Leftists Moonbats, his allowing Iraq (as well as Af-Gan) to form new Governments with Islam/Sharia being the "Controlling Authority" GUARANTEED that neither country would EVER be a "Real" ally, friend or partner, and all that phony-baloney, "Hearts and Minds" crapola and "Nation Building" would be for naught, never mind, that NONE of its citizens would ever be afforded any "Rights," "Liberties," or "Freedoms."
From that point on, our presence in Iraq became an excercise in futility and bound to end as it did.
That and the fact that neither Bush nor the Messiah sought to exert any "influence" or "pressure" (which we could easily done so) and simply infomred al-Maliki that we would maintain a military presence with "x" number of troops at "x" number of installations and if they didn't like it....? too bad!
The same goes for the oil which we never got to see a drop of or some form of payback for all we invested in blood and treasure in the 3rd World Crap Hole.
Look for anarchy to break out with (as they have always done, when not warring against Infidels) Suni and Shia fighting each other as well as Turkey going after the Kurds, all the while, Iran benefiting the most from our having "bugged out."

An Iraq vet told me yesterday that the US in under obligation to pay Iraq for bases that were leased for 99 years there. Is anyone else aware or know if this is true?
The above deserves repeating, every day as Iran takes over Iraq. This is what happens when you fight a "Hearts and Minds" war and then try "Nation Building". We are lead by fools and traitors.

I have no idea but how would Iraq enforce that obligation? You and I would say - buzz off - but this and future administrations would probably just say where do you want us to send the checks? When the better questions would be: where’s our reimbursement and where’s our oil?
I remember hearing the same thing about bases before we left Vietnam. Never did know if that was true either.
Does anyone think we learned anything about just staying home and minding our own business?
