Tea Party Nation poll shows 52 percent will vote for Romney if he is GOP nominee (Look out Pubs!)

Most self-affiliated members of Tea Party Nation, one of the largest national organizations for the grassroots conservative movement, would vote for Mitt Romney as president if confronted with a choice between him or President Obama, according to a poll of members released to The Hill on Friday.

The group surveyed its members this week in an informal poll posted at the group’s website. The question asked was: If Romney is the GOP nominee, what will you do in the general election?

Fifty-two percent of about 1,150 respondents said they would “hold their nose” and vote for Romney if he becomes the GOP nominee, while 23 percent said they would vote for an unspecified third-party candidate. Twelve percent said they would not vote in the presidential election at all if the choice is between Romney and Obama.

If we want a REAL conservative to win we must get moving. The Tea Party seems awfully silent lately. Where is the outrage against the Wall Street Protest? We need to get back in the news again, the left is so much better than us in getting out there and creating a stir. I feel we’re resting on our laurels a bit lately. Where the million man march on DC that we need again ?

Romney is about the only candidate I would stay home for. I really hate the thought of possibly being put in that position.
The R party is leaning much more right now. We do not need a liberal like Romney.
Hard to say when it is actually November 2012 what people will do. Staying home and not voting is a really disgusting option. Voting for Romney is yet another detestable option.

Amazing in a nation of 300 million people we have what we have right now.

McCain failed for a different reason — he cowered at the race card, and bent over so far backward to show that he wasn’t a racist that he put his head into his anus.

Whatever Mitt’s failings, refraining from open opposition to Obama (at least on paper) isn’t among them.

What the hell is Tea Party Nation?

Obviously one of the TEA Party orginizations created or coopted by the Romney sycophants. They don't represent me or the other 75% of TEA Party voters who will not vote for Romney under any circumstances.

I’m as conservative as the next guy but I will vote for anybody to remove Obama. I truly believe America can not survive another 4 years of this guy intact. Having said that I will oppose Romney vigorously in the primaries.

FYI The head of “Tea Party Nation” is an establishment GOP person. He has made no secret of his support of Romney

The Tea Party seems awfully silent lately.

The TEA Party people are busy working at real jobs. They have not gone away.

The fact that Romney can't get any traction is proof that gazillions of conservatives are wide awake, and waiting for a chance to vote against leftists of both parties.

"But from what I can see given Romney’s record there is not a big difference between he and Obama."

No. You mean: " between HIM and Obama."

Now CST, don't make me start diagramming sentences.

Yup. See tagline.

Hopefully, it will never happen. If it does, some third party will be the beneficiary of all that disaffection. Mrs. Palin, please pick up the white courtesy phone. It's the Constitution Party calling....

That is the problem, you will get the same percent from Romney as you get from Obama, zero. both are progressives, both want this nation dead. both want the constitution burned.

I believe he will do more damage than Obama.

This is a ridiculous statement. Give me Mitt any day to Obama. I"m going to point out the hypocrisy of Freepers. Freepers claim to despise Romney to the point they're more than happy to return Obama for four more years of destruction, yet they will defend Cain who endorsed Romney four years ago and still says he would be his VP but yet, he won't be Perry's VP.

Not only that, but there is an obvious love affair going on between Cain and Romney. If it weren't for Perry, no one would be going after Romney. This is nuts.

I understand your arguments, and they are good ones. But I do not think the U.S. can survive four more years of the Obama Administration, but it might survive a Romney Administration.

Let's hope it doesn't come to that--and not just hope but work to keep it from coming to that.I think Cain has a real chance of winning. He needs money and a powerful organization behind him.

If he can pull it off--and if anyone can, a man who has prvailed over racial discrimination, poverty, cancer, and the corporate world can!--America has a chance of surviving the deadly plague of decadence.

If he can't, nobody can.

Voting for Romney means that you really weren’t a Tea Party member to begin with.

As a conservative I will consider it best to just stay home if Romney is the candidate of any party.

You need to still vote down the ticket. Just leave the top blank.

the election will not only be decided by the tea party, it will also depend on how many independents flee Obama

If the sheeple moderates want Mortimer the mAsshole let them vote him in. I will not help them. That's master plan from the establishment? RIght?

Principled but stupid, that's a great combination......

How is it intelligent for conservatives to vote for an out-right liberal phony? Romney's not just a RINO, he's a cancer on the GOP that needs a huge dose of radiation therapy.

Not a decrease in turnout, necessarily. My intention is to not pull any lever in the top row of the ballot. The Congressional and local races are too important to just stay home. I would never pass the chance to vote against Bawney Fwank.

Polling the Tea Party is a joke. Where is the list of Tea Party members to poll. I know plenty of Tea Party members, none of whom have ever joined any sort of political organization of machine in order to have their name listed anywhere. Story is a fraud. Romney can’t win. I’m from Massachusetts and voted for him for governor. I wouldn’t vote him for dog catcher. His principles are far from rigid and consistent. He has an excuse for all his actions, however, they aren’t what a conservative is looking for. His health care plan in Mass is burying families in either premium increases, or penalties for not carrying coverage. A sad day for Mass was when he was elected. I’d rather have Mike Dukakis back. At least I wasn’t expecting a responsible response to the state’s problems with the Duke. I knew he was liberal fool. Romney’s got us all buffaloed if he wins. His father was a great man. Not Mitt.

How intelligent is it for anyone to sit out the election simply because "their guy" didn't get the nomination and give Obama another four years?

Yea, that's really, really intelligent.....How did Perot work out for ya Antoninus?
