Tea Party Nation poll shows 52 percent will vote for Romney if he is GOP nominee (Look out Pubs!)

Most self-affiliated members of Tea Party Nation, one of the largest national organizations for the grassroots conservative movement, would vote for Mitt Romney as president if confronted with a choice between him or President Obama, according to a poll of members released to The Hill on Friday.

The group surveyed its members this week in an informal poll posted at the group’s website. The question asked was: If Romney is the GOP nominee, what will you do in the general election?

Fifty-two percent of about 1,150 respondents said they would “hold their nose” and vote for Romney if he becomes the GOP nominee, while 23 percent said they would vote for an unspecified third-party candidate. Twelve percent said they would not vote in the presidential election at all if the choice is between Romney and Obama.

How is Mittens 75% better than Obama? Because he is white? because he is a (R)ino?

If you think you’re going to get 100% of what you want, you better have .

(1) george soros money ...

or

(2) You better run yourself.

And this should be simple ........

If I get 75% of what I want from Mitt, it’s better than the 0% I get from obama.

Go ahead and sit at home if mitt gets the nomination. Your attitude is screw the USA if I don’t get what I want. That’s not mine.

Go to the Tea Party Nation web site and on the right side of every page you’ll see, “Tea Party Nation is a social network.” That right there tells me all I need to know.

This poll is pure BS.

This might be a good time for FReepers to read "The Devil's Advocate" wherein the protagonist "advocates" for the Devil, because the people have not experienced enough hardship in life to select the alternative.

Complacency yields no improvement.

Again, I ask.

How is Mittens 75% better than Obama?

And the WINNER of the BEST COMMENT OF THE DAY is.............

BOYCOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“instead of pouting about not getting 100% of what I want, I’d rather get 75% than 0 (0=obama). I am going to support this nation by voting against obama.”

ALL the machinations, musings and whinings are IRRELEVANT.

At the end of Election Day 2012, the ONLY question of ANY important AT ALL will be: “Did Non-Liberal America vote for or against Obama?” Whether or not you have to “hold your nose”, ya’d better be REAL careful how you spend that day’s vote.

Romney can't win if he loses 10% of the Republican vote.

I think he should be called McRomney from now on.

Agreed.

Romney , if he won, would cement the gains Obama made in building the Statist Govt. and defang the true Constitutional tea party.

An Obama second term will necessitate the destruction of the RINO GOP and creation of authentic Constitutional American party that would eventually win , after Obama attempted to destroy the Republic, and right the ship of State.

Basically what you’re saying is: if my candidate is not the “perfect” conservative, I’m not going to vote. Consign yourself to never voting again, because there is no such thing as the perfect candidate. Romney is far down the list of my preferences (Cain or Perry), but if he is the Republican candidate, I will vote for him.

I didn't say "I won't vote", at all.

I said I don't fall in line with those who take whatever they can get (the chosen Elitist of the Republican Establishment, REGARDLESS of WHO IT IS).

My philosophy has always been to vote for the most conservative candidate running whether in the primary or the general.

In the current primary, I was for Bachmann until she pivoted left and attacked Perry on Social Security. Now, I am more of a Cain man, but still like Perry as well.

I pray to God Romney is not nominated, but if he is our nominee, and if he is the most conservative candidate running, I will vote for him. If he somehow wins the Presidency, I will work like crazy to have him primaried in 2016 with a more conservative candidate.

Staying at home and not voting at all is simply not an option for me.

>>> I guess I am not understanding what the “Tea Party Nation” is

“Tea Party Nation organized the National Tea Party Convention held February 4–6, 2010. Around 600 activists attended the event, and Sarah Palin was featured as the keynote speaker.

The event was criticized for its $549 ticket price, as well as the fact that Palin was apparently paid $100,000 USD for her appearance. Palin has said she will donate the fee to unspecified conservative causes.

Several prominent conservative organizations refused to participate in the event due to its for-profit nature. The Tea Party Patriots advised members not to participate in December 2009. Erick Erickson of the conservative blog RedState.com described the convention as “scammy” on January 11. The American Liberty Alliance (ALA), initially a co-sponsor, withdrew its support on January 13. Later in January, Michele Bachmann and Marsha Blackburn cancelled their plans to speak.”

A subsequent convention was booked for the following July, postponed until October, and ultimately cancelled. On July 18, 2011 the Venetian Casino Resort filed suit for unpaid bills allegedly totaling $642,144.

Tea Party Nation, and specifically its founder, have generated criticism and controversy. For example, Phillips’ stance that voting rights should be restricted to property owners has been criticized as discriminatory and outdated:

“American culture” will soon perish since the “White Anglo-Saxon Protestant (WASP) population is headed for extinction”

Figures they wouldn’t like a Mormon.

Again, I am not a big fan of Mitt but I will vote for him if he’s the nominee. I held my nose and voted for McCain and I would do it again if I had to.

If you don’t know why Miss is better, I suggest a little research.

Ok. so you can’t answer the question. No problem.

I can tell you why I won’t vote for him.

Romneycare/Obama care. Ya, he says it was a mistake. To me that is to big of a mistake to reward him with the office of the president.

He’s flip/flopped on abortion when it seemed politically smart to do so.

He’s very likely to appoint liberals to the bench

He supported Tarp

He supported Porkulus

He supports gay “rights” (special preferences)

he supports “gun control” (taking our guns, not hitting the target.)

he is the media/white house selected candidate.

And last but not least. He’s a lying sack of shyt.

We have one of those in the white house already. We don’t need to change the D to an R just to say we control the white house.

I held my nose and voted for McCain because of Sarah. Mitts could tap Sarah again for VP and I won’t do it. I can’t do it. I thought maybe I could but I just can’t sell myself out again. He does not have to match my core values 100% but could he at least get over 50%?

sure he’s talking the talk now. But look at his record. He’s no friend of mine or conservatives.

One hopes the GOP will be sensible enough not to commit electoral suicide with Romney in 2012. So far it looks like Cain will probably be “it.” He will not only charm most of the Tea Party, but many other Republicans and independents will see him as a reasonable, personable man. He is walking proof that to be very conservative doesn’t equate to being a meanie.

I agree with you. Assume (conservatively) that the Tea Partiers comprise 25% of the GOP base. Assume the GOP is around 35% of the voters in the next election with the Dems taking 35% and independents making up the remaining 30%.

That means that the Tea Partiers refusing to vote for Romney (INCLUDING ME) will depress his overall national vote total by at least 8%. THAT is FATAL to Romney.
