Anne Frank, a Mormon?
New York Times ^ | Oct. 18, 2011 | Maureen Dowd

Posted on 10/20/2011 7:24:57 AM PDT by Colofornian

At an appearance at George Washington University...Bill Maher bounded into territory that the news media have been gingerly tiptoeing around.

Magic underwear. Baptizing dead people. Celestial marriages. Private planets. Racism. Polygamy.

“By any standard, Mormonism is more ridiculous than any other religion”...“It’s...founded on the idea of polygamy. They call it The Principle. That sounds like The Prime Directive in ‘Star Trek.’ ”

He said he expects the Romney crowd...to once more “gloss over the differences between Christians and Mormons.”

SNIP

Another famous nonbeliever, Christopher Hitchens, wrote in Slate...about “the weird and sinister belief system of the LDS”...

Aside from Joseph Smith, whom Hitchens calls “a fraud and conjurer well known to the authorities in upstate New York,” the writer also wonders about the Mormon practice of amassing archives of the dead...to “retrospectively ‘baptize’ everybody as a convert.”

Hitchens noted that they “got hold of a list of those put to death by the Nazis’ Final Solution” and “began making these massacred Jews into honorary LDS members as well.” He called it “a crass attempt at mass identity theft from the deceased.”

The Mormons even baptized Anne Frank.

It took Ernest Michel, then chairman of the American Gathering of Jewish Holocaust Survivors, three years to get Mormons to agree to stop proxy-baptizing Holocaust victims.

SNIP

Kent Jackson, the associate dean of religion at Brigham Young University, says that while Mormons are Christians, “Mormonism is not part of the Christian family tree.”

It probably won’t comfort skeptical evangelicals and Catholics to know that Mormons think that while other Christians merely “have a portion of the truth, what God revealed to Joseph Smith is the fullness of the truth,” as Jackson says...

Every candidate’s religion could affect how they govern.

So true; that's why we study things like this.

Or a Conservative.

You poor thing, I'm adamantly opposed to Mormon ISM. I understand that you can't differentiate that so complex notion, but just stand by and I'll expound on it for you a wee bit.

I am strongly against heresies and blasphemies to The Christ of the Bible. I can see how the duplicitous whining nature of mormonism does in fact tell us a lot about what Milt will do and has done in being governor of a very liberal state. I can also see where Milt gets his penchant for outright lying. Do you really want to continue defending that at Freerepublic?

Milt Rominy's religion is mormonISM. He went through the 'Aaronic Priesthood' with that religion, swearing the aoths of same. He has become a 'Melchizadek High Priest' in mormonISM ans sworn the aoths of that 'high office'. He has served as a bishop in that religion and in so doing simultaneously spoke out of both sides of his mouth on a variety of issues important to conservatives. He did these deciets in order to appear favoarbale to the leftists populating massatwosh!ts, showing he is just another typical adherent to mormonISM which is hallmarked by duplicitousness.

Now, if you really believe that Milt Rominy's record as governor is a plus for him, why is he trying so hard to run away from the things he did as governor, and why is he lying about the positions he took publicly when trying to win Ted 'the swimmer' Kennedy's senate seat, or when he was debating for the governorship, rpoclaiming he would protect abortion 'rights' in that state?

The First Amendment, which prevents a state run religion. You want or believe that we have state run Christianity, and you want to use that to prevent a Mormon from becoming president. That’s unconstitutional.

Mitt Romney’s record as governor and him trying to win over Ted Kennedy has nothing to do with Mormonism. George W. Bush tried to win him over, and Bush isn’t a Mormon. I never discussed Mitt’s record as governor as being a plus, I mentioned it in relation to Mormonism.

Gaving studied mormonISM extensively, I will attest that duplicitous rhetoric is a hallmark of mormonISM. So it is no surprise to me that Milt speaks out of both sides of his mouth. I really am sorry for you that you cannot see that reality.

And I apologize for calling you a Mormon. They are good people, mostly (there is that scumbag Harry Reid and that blatant liar Milt Rominy as prime exhibits of Mormon men in powerful positions, and those deceptions played by the late Hinckly prophet to LDS inc), but they are caught up in a new religion claiming to be 'restored Christianity', and they haven't a clue whom they are serving in such a blasphemous religion. It is no wonder Milt lies so easily, serving the father of lies a murderer from the start.

Milt tried to win Ted’s seante seat. I don’t think Bush tried to ‘win over Ted on anything that I can recall, except maybe appointing him the titular head of writing education spending bills.

How is Mitt Challenging Ted Kennedy for his senate seat worse than Bush working with Kennedy on the education bill? Bush also invited Kennedy over for the Superbowl. Bush Sr. gave Kennedy a lifetime achievement award while his son was president.

Colofrnian, Elsie, and myself have not even hinted that we would want a legal block to liars like Milt as a religion test for office. That little false assertion was actually issued from LDS inc a while back, and now it’s getting repeated by Milt followers and irrational LDS inc apologists. Would you care to retratc that falsehood, or do you think you can prove your false assertion?
