Perry Can Still Win
MSNBC/The Daily Beast ^ | Oct 19, 2011 | Matt Latimer

Undoubtedly a team of scientists already has been dispatched to Las Vegas to study the phenomenon that tens of thousands of startled CNN viewers saw firsthand Tuesday night. For the first time in the five years since he launched his methodical, by-the-numbers, always placid, PowerPoint-inspired campaign for the presidency of the United States, an emoticon crossed Mitt Rombot's faceplate. In layman's terms, the former governor short-circuited. Even more surprising, the first person ever to dent that metallic exterior was the same one politicos had confidently written off only a few weeks ago.

Yes, Rick Perry - who in two months was transformed by the punditry from political sage to political sap - pulled off the feat that John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani, and Fred Thompson could never muster: getting under Romney's skin. Despite glowing reviews, Perry's was not an award-winning debate performance to be sure; one hopes someone will tell him to quit calling Herman Cain "brother." Yet his all but inevitable campaign comeback has commenced.

Cain hasn’t much money.

And exactly how do you know this?

I would concur with that, especially if elected speaker.

Please remember that the 'charismatic' occupier will be without his trusty teleprompter during a debate. Do you really believe he will be articulate? Obama is not a magnificent speaker and will show his ass during a debate...with any of the current candidates.

If Cain doesn’t have much money, then we need to rectify that situation.

Obama is going to spend a lot of dirty money on getting re-elected, so we need to help Herman get his message out.

I remember 3 years ago and seeing about 5 Obama campaign ads for every 1 McCain ad on TV

There are 3 real conservatives in the GOP field, and the only one with a real chance of beating him is Cain.

And having Cain as the nominee takes away the race card, so the media and Obama will only be left with the class warfare card, and the public isn’t siding with that or the hippies occupying Wall Street.

Remember, that’s Obama’s base and the public is against them.

What’s Obama going to run on, his record?
Let’s put Cain’s record of economic success up against Obama’s.

Fun to watch that Intrade, isn’t it, and even more so when it is trending the way you like to see it trend.

Intrade has Romney with a 67% chance of winning the GOP nomination and it's been pretty consistent about that. Actually Romney's numbers went up after the debate.

I ask you how you know how much money Cain has and you refer me to a July 1 article?

I guess you really don't know, do you.

I knew Ronald Reagan, at least I shook his hand and got to speak with him very briefly, Rick Perry is no Ronald Reagan. :) Reagan’s ideas did not mesh with the Democrats, and so he left. Perry’s ambitions did not mesh with the Democrats, and so he left. He knew he could never go far in Texas as a Democrat. Either party, he still has that “moderate” center like the gooey center of a candy.

On that note we can agree, that without teleprompter the messiah is lost. However I watched him debate McCain and he was pretty good. Good night, past my bed time!

Are you kidding me? I do not trust Romney as far as I can throw him. If he wins nomination, it will be McCain redux.

I think Romney was starting to think he was invincible, since the other candidates were not attacking him. This really took him by surprise - he couldn’t believe it. I loved every minute of it!

I thought Mitt was going to cry for a minute there.

He's every bit as arrogant as Obama.

And almost as liberal.

The $100,000 tuition break talking point came straight out of Mitt Romney’s mouth in the third debate. That’s why I called your reference of it a Mitt Romney talking point.

But the debates, especially when we get to the general election are one of the key ways we get to know about the people running. Not everyone gets to go to rallies & people don’t always pay attention to commercials but the debates are shown in enough different outlets that whether watching it live or news about it they do get a sense of who these people are.

We aren’t electing a debater in chief but the majority of people aren’t going think about that. And it does illustrate how well a person “thinks on his feet”. We already know we have one incompetent president and Perry’s debate performances don’t make him look intelligent. I’m not saying he isn’t smart but that he looks as if he is in the debates. This nomination is very important and there’s no reason everyone has to choose yet. Remember, the candidates are supposed to earn our votes. People do not have to think Perry is the best if he hasn’t impressed them. If a candidate can’t impress the diehard political junkies who pay attention to these things how is he/she going to impress the general public. Perry has a long way to go to be ready for prime time.

None of them were ever a democrat.

Bachmann was definitely a Democrat and campaigned for Jimmy Carter in '76. She mentioned it in a debate.

Something to think about: Perry's been a Republican for more years (22) than Reagan had been a Republican (18) when he become president.

Perry <=== Rove Puppet

Romney <==== Rove Puppet

America does not need backstabber, misogynist Rove
nor the fascist Romney.
