While candidates Mitt Romney and Rick Perry battled it out in the CNN Western Republican Presidential Debate, Sarah Palin said she thought Newt Gingrich took home the winner's belt.
"Everybody could learn from Newt Gingrich and the way - his calm, cool, collected manner," Palin said Tuesday in an interview on Fox News. "He's kind of seen it all before in this political game, if you will."
Palin said the former House Speaker, often described as the most professor-like among the pool of candidates, would "clobber Barack Obama in any debate, any forum that had to do with substance."

LOL! Her word salads always left me wondering...
Jilted?
How would I love to see Newt debate Barry? ...Let me count the ways!
Palins opinion is neither desired nor given any credence.
I prefer the active voice: I appreciate Palin’s opinions and I give them plenty of credence.
I am not alone.
You have a Perry tag line so let me ask, while Palin was in Texas to help Perry get reelected when Kay Bailey Hutchinson challenged him, did anyone give her opinions credence then??
Newt would totally own Ozero in a debate!
jla is an big time PDS’er, upset that a word from Sarah can still make headlines.
Speak for yourself.
There are fewer than ten people whose opinion on political situations I personally give a damn about. In that tiny handful that I do pay attention to and give credence to is Sarah Palin.

I hope nobody is jumping to the false assumption that Palin was endorsing Newt by what she said. I would paraphrase her as simply saying, “Newt was the only adult acting person in the debate.” It was more of an admonishment of the other candidates than it was a praising of Newt.
If you're trying to impress us with the "Gingrich/baggage" terminology, you lose. 400,000 FReepers have heard it thousands of times over the last five years or so. Most all of us agree about his "baggage."
Speak for yourself, Skippy.
WSJ has a piece from former low level Heritage workers on the "mandate" history there.
It's disingenuous of Romney to paint Newt as an intellectual father of RomneyCare and ObamaCare for supporting Heritage's concepts in discussions as an alternative to HillaryCare 13 years before Romney's scheme became law.
It never went anywhere as policy, and the idea itself was rejected upon greater reflection. Romney learned nothing from this.
Neither is yours.
Dear Nikki Haley, Susan Martinez, Allen West, Tim Scott, Rand Paul, Gov. Brewer, Gov. Perry, and the others who asked, sought, received and benefited from Palin’s “opinion”....gee, you should just walked away and taken your chances with Mitt and the RNC establishment.

Perry has trouble finding words.
A debate victory for Perry is coming in last without totally embarrassing himself.
I’m not trying to impress anybody, it’s simply a truth.
However, I have watched the undisciplined, sometimes conservative, sometimes sitting on Pelosi's couch Gingrich for too many years.
IF he were to win the nomination, I would support him over President Obama with enthusiasm. But I don't think that issue will arise.
LOL. To the contrary, you're literally speaking about yourself.
I've been over Newt for a long time, but I'm beginning to think he's the guy for the job.
Otherwise we're getting Myth.
