Palin: Gingrich won the debate
CNN ^ | 2011-10-19 | Ashley Killough

While candidates Mitt Romney and Rick Perry battled it out in the CNN Western Republican Presidential Debate, Sarah Palin said she thought Newt Gingrich took home the winner's belt.

"Everybody could learn from Newt Gingrich and the way - his calm, cool, collected manner," Palin said Tuesday in an interview on Fox News. "He's kind of seen it all before in this political game, if you will."

Palin said the former House Speaker, often described as the most professor-like among the pool of candidates, would "clobber Barack Obama in any debate, any forum that had to do with substance."

Palin’s opinion is neither desired nor given any credence.

She also said that she doesn’t think Newt will get the nomination.....so she’s not endorsing him but acknoweldging that he does well in the debates

??? Mitt got Newt to agree that Romneycare was based on an idea from Newt and the Heritage Foundation. Newt at first denied it, then agreed Mitt was right.

Newt got dunked.

I would say that in all objectivity, yes, Gingrich won that on strict, traditional debating points, and my man, Herman Cain, came in a strong second. However, Sarah Gov. Palin is now a private citizen and her opinion should neither be giving preeminent consideration nor be ignored.

I mean, think about it. This could be endless. We could have Megan McCain getting on here saying who she thought won. Who Duncan Hunter thought won? Who Dick Cheney thought won? Who Don Rumsfeld thought won? Who Ron Reagan, Jr. thought won? It could go on and on and on and on.

Sheesh, I've got a novel idea.....let's let the American People speak in the GOP PRIMARIES (like we used to do, with "Race to the nomination delegate counts" on the screen each week on national TV) and not have the thing decided in advance by an avalanche of talking heads in an out of control, superficial, ADD-driven news cycle that last about 6 hours max.

Compared to everybody else, Newt is a genius. Would I support him? In a heartbeat, will he get the nomination? Probably not. Do I have a horse in this race? Yes, the Republican.

That's your opinion. I give her opinion credence as does many on fr. Unlike some, I don't hold a grudge and act like a spoiled child because she decided not to run. That decision does not reduce her right to give her opinion on matters of the day. If you choose not to listen that's OK but don't assume we all feel that way...

Gingrich will ALWAYS win the debate, hands down. He’s brilliant. The problem is, he does not always act on the conservative principles he espouses. He is too willing to reach across the isle for political expediency.

“Palin’s opinion is neither desired nor given any credence”

I desire Palin’s opinions and give them credence. She’s more than another media personality and she’s free to speak her mind. She’s gotten herself into a position of enormous power. However, to hold onto that power she must give us analyses that are insightful and helpful.

She certainly has the right to express an opinion. a hundred people less qualified than her express political opinions every day on the various news channels.

All she said was that Newt was the best debater and most people think he was.
