The people responsible for the Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal will be held accountable, President Barack Obama pledges during an interview for "Nightline" Tuesday night.
Its very upsetting to me to think that somebody showed such bad judgment that they would allow something like that to happen, Obama told ABC News Jake Tapper. And we will find out who and what happened in this situation and make sure it gets corrected.
Obama told Tapper, People who screwed up will be held accountable, according to a report on ABCnews.com in advance of the broadcast.
His comments came on the day that the Senate voted to block funds for any similar operation in the future.
It also came as a fourth Republican congressman, freshman Allen West, called for the resignation of Attorney General Eric Holder for his role in the fatally flawed scheme which saw hundreds of assault weapons fall into the hands of violent Mexican drug cartels.
In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV, West said Holder definitely could be complicit in what could be criminal actions. The Florida representative added, He should do the honorable thing and resign and take full responsibility for what has happened.
Obamas comments show that pressure from Republican investigators led by House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa of California and Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa is paying off.
Last week, Issa subpoenaed hundreds of documents to discover how high in the administration knowledge of the scheme went. He has accused Holder of failing to cooperate in the investigation.

The ladder has been pulled up. Remains to be seen if Eric Holder or Hillary Clinton will get a ‘life-line’ thrown to them. The small-fry will have to begin cutting deals for testimony.
Don’t forget Hillary Clinton ....
Holder is history....for that matter so is Zero.
I think what Obama means when he says the people that screwed up are the whistle blowers.
My question to the Zero is, are you going to promote and pass punitive repeals of gun control laws over this? If not, GTFO.
Looks like someone is heading under the bus.
Just a matter of piecing things together to find out WHO IS GUILTIEST.
And that would be you Obama!
...and protected and rewarded accordingly if they cover my assets.
There are no words to express my feelings towards these criminals, pretenders, and imposters...
....The people responsible for the Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal will be held accountable, [obama] pledges....
BALONEY!!!!
He “was” a lawyer.
Look carefully at what he said.
“People Responsible for Fast and Furious ‘Will Be Held Accountable’”
He did not say those who’s idea it was, but those who are “responsible” for it. That is intended to exclude him. He is the originator. There is no doubt it was his idea.
Will he be held accountable? In this life? Or later?
The headline is incorrect. Obama stated that “People who screwed up will be held accountable”. From his point of view, that means whoever failed to keep the program a secret.
F&F was not a mistake or a rogue operation. It being discovered was the mistake., from Bammy’s point of view.
We will find the people responsible & “they will be held accountable” even if we have to go as high up the food chain as the head janitor.
So said barry soetero the head janitor.
Can Barky fire himself ?
So he is going to resign? Never thought he would do the honorable thing. Guess I was wrong.
...Its very upsetting to me to think that somebody showed such bad judgment that they would allow something like that to happen, Obama told ABC News Jake Tapper”...
Parsing his language, I think he means those who let the proverbial cat out of the bag will be held accountable, not those who actually conceived and implemented the scheme. The operation was clearly intended to undermine the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution, which was tipped by Obama’s speech given in Mexico I believe in early 2009, and by Hillary Clinton who I believe also said the same sorts of things in Mexico.
..is this a confession?
