Highschoolers horrified at gay male kiss in school play, while officials praise exposure

HARTFORD, October 18, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.coom) - Several students at a Hartford high school expressed horror and left the auditorium when two male members of a city-funded school play shared a passionate kiss onstage on Friday. School officials said they opted against informing parents about the event ahead of time, saying that the students needed exposure to homosexuality, and hailed the “chaotic” reaction as a victory for raising the gay issue.

The kiss occurred during Hartford Public High School’s production of “Zanna, Don’t!,” a play depicting a world in which homosexuality is normative and heterosexuals take up the role of “outcasts.”

The Hartford Courant reported that “screams and loud voices” and sounds of disgust came from the audience during the display of affection, while “dozens” of mostly male students left the auditorium. While some trickled back in, officials had to prevent many from leaving the school building.

School officials had told students that homosexual displays of affection would be featured in the play, and many asked to be excused. One school official cited by The Courant, nursing academy principal David Chambers, said that he had considered sending an opt-out letter to parents before changing his mind. The school reportedly received a number of phone calls from parents following the incident.

The play, available to students free of charge, was a joint effort between Connecticut gay youth group True Colors and a local youth leadership program, and was funded in part by the city of Hartford.

Chambers said that students needed to learn empathy towards homosexuals and exposure to things that would make them uncomfortable. “Our kids are not there yet,” he said. Chambers also suggested that the reaction of disgust was a good sign, indicating a release of students’ inner conflict about homosexuality.

“Even though it’s kind of chaotic, kind of wild and crazy, I see it as very successful,” he said, according to The Courant. “Our kids never deal with this, they keep it inside, and that’s that nervous energy. That’s why they walked out.”

Adam Johnson, principal of Hartford High’s Law and Government Academy, agreed. “This is as important of a topic to discuss as anything in math, anything in social studies,” Johnson said. “I’m completely glad that we did it.”

The Family Institute of Connecticut (FIC) condemned the scandal, and called for a protest of the school’s decision, calling it “an outrageous attack on parental rights.”

FIC notes that a bill introduced earlier this year by Republican Sen. Kevin Witkos, which would have mandated that parents be allowed to opt out their children from sexuality instruction in schools, was never given a public hearing. “We will fight for it again next year and every year until it is passed,” said the group.

Same-sex “marriage” was imposed on Connecticut by the state’s Supreme Court in 2008, three years after granting “all-but-marriage” civil unions for homosexual couples.

I could say more, but will just repeat: Gay-foisting, godless, corrupt public indoctrination schools are not practical and affordable. Alternatives to same are neither impractical nor unaffordable.
Life is more than food.

Are you serious? (didn’t know there was an Archbishop of Hartford). You’re kidding right?

God, what a mess..........with the wretched godless commies all over the Church anyway on the gay rights issue and now the Archbishop is solicited to intervene in this?

Jeez, I’m too old for this planet.

Go ahead and say more, since you have the answers. Why don’t you tell all the everyday people how to afford private school. Have both parants work eighty hours a week and have no time for the kids? Or maybe deny them a father by having him live at work? Are you even raising kids in the modern world?
I work in childrens ministry, and get to help undo lib braiwashing. I know good parants whos only failing has been not to earned the paychecks you must have, or even mine.
I don’t know what your advantages are or aren’t, but try not basing other peoples lives on your own.

Its worth a note that children have to be taught to accept homosexuality, because it naturally nauseates them.

As do poisons and rotten food. I wonder, if the school gave the kids those, would complacent parents tell us it's no big deal because they administer the antidote and the meds when the children get home. (That is, if the parents are not too tired from working to pay for all that house and car...)

I pinged another article about this hateful depravity with this comment added:

In Germany people used to call “Hitler Youth” something like “Hitler’s Fairies”. It was well known that many of the youth leaders were pederasts who turned the “Jugend” into homosexuals. Now public skrewels are turning into homosexual factories. Not just a bit here and there, but it seems to have become their main mission. I’d like to see massive protests with parents, relatives, neighbors, community people - whose property taxes PAY for schools - protesting this “Queering” of the public schools. Signs, displays, tables with info, etc. When will people take some action? Have the majority really accepted this? Are most people in Hartford, CT fine with the schools turning into bath houses for children?

Go ahead and humiliate me. My ego can take it. I have no problems learning if you have real world answers on how to raise and educate children in an imperfect world.
I know some pretty bright people who don’t claim to know your secret answers. I also know a lot of know it alls who know nothing.

“Nope! I disagree. These parents shouldn’t be protesting. Protesting implies that reform is possible.”

My POV is based on Texas schools which do not have teachers’ unions dictating to administrations. In fact, most teachers at my former district had joined professional organizations for the liability insurance coverage. A small minority of the teachers were members of TEA which is a regional arm of the NEA.
Although, I have been retired for six years and not at all involved with Texas schools, at the time I was teaching the school administration was most responsive to ‘blocs of angry parents’ and bad PR.
The older teachers were upset at having to get more involved on social issues and giving up time from academics. Younger teachers loved the social lessons and seemed unconcerned about reaching curriculum objectives from which time was taken.
The older teachers were very frustrated at the indifference of parents who had no idea of what was going on in the classrooms.

I think you are missing my point.

The very **foundation** upon which socialist schooling is built is corrupt. The very foundation is a First Amendment, human rights, and freedom of conscience abuse!

Personally, I will no longer have a government teacher for a friend. Anyone who would cooperate with what follows below and do this to children is either too evil or too stupid. Congratulations to you for leaving the system.

1) It is built upon socialism and government force. Simply by attending children learn that the government can use its police force to gather the money needed to pay for their socialist and tuition-free schooling. Wow! Gee! If the government can use police force to give them tuition-free socialist schooling, why not other “free” socialist services and goods?

2) Even at its very best socialist school **forced** upon all of its children a generic and lukewarm Protestantism. ( Christ spits the lukewarm out of His mouth). It was an abomination in the 1800s and it would be an abomination to return to that now.

3) ALL socialist schools in this nation are godless. Godless is **not** religiously neutral. Children in these schools **must** think and reason godlessly just to cooperate in the classroom, read their godless textbooks, and turn in their godless assignments.

4) It is impossible to have a religiously neutral education. Government socialist school today is dedicated to the establishment of the government religion of godless secular humanism. This is a First Amendment abomination. It is an abomination to force children to attend. It is an abomination to force taxpayers to pay for it.

Have the majority really accepted this? Are most people in Hartford, CT fine with the schools turning into bath houses for children?

The majority accept it in various ways. By ignoring it; by denying it; by convincing themselves they are counteracting it with a few throwaway questions across the dinner table ("How was school? Any socialist or homosexual agenda examples for me?" "Uh-uh.")

Meanwhile, the parents keep on going deep into debt, buying more house than they can afford, locking the family into mortgages and car loans, and then passing much of the burden to the children by depriving them of quality time and enrolling them in "free" public schools where they're exposed for several hours a day to moral corruption by so-called educators. It's despicable, but these parents would sooner go into debt for a house than for a youngster's education. In that one decision you can discern more than half of the deadly sins; there is sloth, pride, greed, and envy in subordinating the family interests to a fancy house, a newer car (or two), and a career justified by debt willingly incurred.

Someday, they'll be asked by their children "How are you doing in the rest home? They treating you ok?"

"Uh-huh."

Why is no conservative running for school board?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

No one in my county wins a school board race without the imprimatur of the teachers association. They have money and they have feet on the ground.

In my county the school district is the biggest single employer. No other business in this community comes even close in either size of the payroll or the number of people employed. Then there are all the vendors to the socialist schools and their employees. Even my dentist, and his five employees, depend on socialist school dental insurance that comes into his office.

That's a **lot** of feet on the ground doing the Marxist teachers union bidding. Running for school board is **not** the solution. A solution is to work for the abolishment of socialist schooling. How?

A better way is to do as they have done in Utah. There the legislators are chipping away at the socialist school support network. By having a very small voucher programs and limited charters, parents who want access to these alternatives have built rather powerful lobbies demanding their expansion. By building competing lobbies of parents the powerful socialist school juggernaut can be undermined, and a private infrastructure built. Eventually, parents can begin to take on more and more responsibility of educating their own children with charity moving in to educate the poorest.

And/or people who have no children, or they’re kids are grown up, many not be paying attention to what’s happening in schools. Homeschoolers know....

‘a play depicting a world in which homosexuality is normative and heterosexuals take up the role of “outcasts.”’

And exactly how did the people and animals in the world of this play reproduce themselves?

On-stage acts of rimming and felching are just around the corner for the pervert crowd. One has to ponder how many of the school administrators are closet pedophiles—you can bet there are several right there in Hartford.
