Senate blocks Barack Obama's school potato limit

The US Senate has blocked a proposal by the Obama administration to limit potatoes in school lunches.

The lawmakers also backed an amendment which bars putting any limits on serving other vegetables in US schools.

The administration's proposal had envisaged that pupils would have no more than two servings a week of potatoes and other starchy vegetables.

Government health officials say pupils should have more diverse diets, because they get enough potatoes already.

Just all part of the plan to get people used to the idea that eating is bad for you.

Sweet potatoes (800 different species), potatoes, rice (2 species), corn, wheat, rye, barley, quinoa, tapioca, ...... plenty of starchy vegetables out there!

Best thing about ordinary potatoes is they are, for all practical purposes, hypoallergenic and can be eaten by almost everyone.

My girlfriend, the nurse with two masters degrees, says potatoes are one of the healthiest things you can eat; it has ALL of the major nutrient groups (whatever they are - I just listen to her).

Sweet potatoes in particular are very healthy.

Irish Americans have revolted!

BTW, history shows that your average Irish Crofter ate 8 pounds ( THATS RIGHT , EIGHT POUNDS) of potatos per day.

And the idjit Obama administration wants to limit potato servings in school? WHAAAAAA?

Obama needs the posterior spud planting treatment.

FWIW, they grow more potatoes in Poland than in Idaho, Oregon, North Dakota, Maine and Montana combined (five of our leading potato growing states). If you throw in the rest of the U.S.A., we’re still not far ahead of Poland, a country with less than 1/8th our population.

An even more dramatic example than Poland is the Ukraine which has 1/7th the U.S. population and 95% of our potato production.

Better keep an eye on this legislation.

This is probably in retribution — the Miss Ebonics pageant had to be cancelled because no one wanted to be Miss Idaho.
