His team better have him prepped to defend his claim less than a year ago that a national sales tax is the worst thing the federal government could implement.

It won't be hard to defend. Time Magazine, liberal bloggers and other FReepers have been taking it out of context to smear Mr. Cain. Here is the full quote:

The worst idea is a proposed national sales tax, which is a disguised VAT (value added tax) on top of everything we already pay in federal taxes.

He was specifically speaking of a European VAT that was proposed by Democrats a few years ago to be added on top of our current taxes. It would have taxes every level of productong (a VAT) unlike Cain's proposed retail sales tax.

Don’t be VAT stupid by Herman Cain

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Having $1 million cash on hand less than 3 months before the primaries is not good. $500,000 was donated from his own money.

You are going by the quarterly report that was released over the weekend (ending Sept 30). Cain reported yesterday that over $2m more came in over the past two weeks so he's already on track to raise $4-5 million this month. My guess is that the donations will only accelerate from here.

If the Presidential race was about MONEY Ron Paul would have been the nominee 6 times over and ‘Bammy’ would be unbeatable.

The most money won't guarantee a win, but no money will almost guarantee you no win. Cain is having trouble convincing people to donate to his campaign. If he were to somehow win the nomination, he will almost certainly be on welfare campaign funds against the Obama juggernaut.

If you think 1 million on hand less than 3 months out of a national primary season is a good thing, then more power to you.

So your arguement is it’s about the money, but not about the money?

Cain is heading to Iowa. He just wants to hit Tennessee first.

He’s hitting the ‘winner take all’ states and letting Romney have many of the ones who assign a percentage of their delegates to all of the candidates.

In the end, Cain get’s more votes.

Smart man. Making the most bang for his buck.

I don’t know what ‘campaigning’ he isn’t doing. He’s giving interviews on every news station every day. He’s giving his stump speech every day. He’s traveling all over the place.

What else do you want?

I don’t see Romney or Perry on the news daily.

Cain is working hard.

Cain needs to mobilize the Black vote in Iowa, i.e. Black churches. Hey, make History; two Black men vying for the Presidency. That way, the Blacks who are disappointed in Obama, can vote for Cain and not feel guilty for not voting for a Brotha. GO FOR IT HERMAN!!!

How many black churches could there be in IOWA???

There are about 3,000,000 in Iowa and only 2.5% are black.

What kind of poll is that? Where a single vote out weighs other votes? That makes no sense?

I think that Romney is closer to the Flavor of the Decade! ;-) He is my nominee for Harold Stassen replacement! ;-)

For some reason this poll and the other one new one showing Cain trouncing Romney in South Carolina were just removed from braking news.

Braking news always puts a stop to things.

Don’t you love how the GOP establishment, the inside the beltway crowd are trying to say this thing is over before anyone gets a chance to vote?

That mean Hermain Cain, if not in the lead, will soon be and they KNOW IT. This is why the establishment is trying to say it’s over.

Herman Cain is the real deal and can defeat Obama. Romney is the fall guy just like in 2008.

A vote for the liberal Romney is a vote for Obama in 2012.

“O’Reilly still does not recognize Cain as a viable candidate.”

Most still do not recognize O’Reilly as a viable entertainer.
