Cain Proposes Electrified Border Fence
Pravda- NY Times Division ^ | 10/15/11 | Wyatt

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Saturday that part of his immigration policy would be to build an electrified fence on the country’s border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally...

Mr. Cain added that he also would consider using military troops “with real guns and real bullets” on the border to stop illegal immigration.

The remarks were among the most pointed yet by Mr. Cain about illegal immigration, and they come as he is enjoying a surge in national political polls on the back of his victory in a recent Florida straw poll..

It is not the first time that Mr. Cain has floated the idea of an electrified fence. He has told the story many times of a caller to his former radio show who chastised him for talking about building a border fence, saying that such an idea was impractical.

“It’s going to be 20 feet high. It’s going to have barbed wire on the top. It’s going to be electrified. And there’s going to be a sign on the other side saying, ‘It will kill you — Warning.’” At an earlier rally, on the campus of Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tenn., he added that the sign would be written “in English and in Spanish.”

“This nation has always been a nation with wide open doors,” Mr. Cain said at the second rally. “We want to make it easy for people to come through the front door. And we’re going to shut off the back door so you don’t have to sneak into America.”

“”After masked men blew a series of huge holes in the border fence late last night, thousands of Palestinians streamed through the holes and swarmed the streets of the Egyptian border town of Rafah, clearing local shops of whatever they could manage to buy and carry off: milk, powdered detergent and the occasional motorcycle.””

Part B of Cain’s plan, meet them with bullets. They’d have to get past those bullets before they would get into Governor Perry’s coddling arms.

They won’t be breaking into friendly territory, as they are in that story. Notice how the Palestinians STILL haven’t tried that stunt in the West Bank. They’re NOT that stupid.

This is why an electric fence would work.

“Ther is little chance of such a policy actually passing congress and even if it does some federal judge somewhere will lock it. Lawyers will have a filed day suing the US govt.”

So why are the Perry people so worried about the fence (and the message it sends), if they’re sure it will never get built?

Anyway, it will get built if it gets out of Congress...and I have NO DOUBT that it will get out of Congress as Cain can pull a Reagan and go right over their heads (if needed).

"Then you machine gun them and repair the hole...of course, with the proposed fencing and patrols/towers etc, that wouldn’t happen. They’d be machine gunned first."

Good night! No one is talking about using machine guns! You would need a special act of Congress to militarize the Mexican border. I am not sure that would pass the muster with our friends, the Mexican government.

Such extreme talk about mowing down illegal border crossers is an embarrassment.

The incidence of increased population from our southern border should not have had a negative impact on our economy. No, this is misdirected fault. We should not be distracted from the true cause of our economic woes: The DemonRAT Marxists who are doing everything they can to bring down our Capitalistic system.

We should be a robust economy that should be able to accommodate everyone. If we think we should slow down the influx so that the accommodation process is more manageable, we should be smart enough as the most powerful nation on earth to create a secure border. If it requires eyes in the sky, cameras, IR sensors, vibration sensors, proximity sensors, boots on the ground and the newest satellite mounted long-wavelength infra-red sensors then we must do it. No, easily defeated electric fencing with machine gun manned watch towers is old school. We don't even do it along the border between North and South Korea.

I care nothing for national defense. LoL!

I would never place myself in harms way in the defense of the country as a military man or a civilian LoL

I dare say, I have patrolled more border than you.

Here is a clue on the fence. There is not a lot of need for deploying our assets to the Southern Ocean or Oceania.
That is why you wont find a strong Naval Presence there.

Butters Mantequilla was hilarious, agreed.

I am not comfortable with illegal aliens. It is slavery. They are treated like dogs - well-fed dogs, to be sure - but the ones who employ them just kinda go hmm hmm hmm where's your SS card oh THERE that bogus copied thing is, get on that backhoe!

I would like to see the employers stung and stung hard, but in this bust time that is the last thing likely to happen, unless somebody was brave enough to put a bounty on their heads.

I have never hired an illegal but my every paycheck pays for those who do.

My solution is to take Mexico and build enough investment that we hire them there, instead of here.

I'm not kidding. TAKE Mexico.

Well, I don’t see what Gaurdisil has to do with building a wall.

Perry has been my governor for a decade as well.

I have lived here all my life.

Perry appears to listen when the populace speaks. If Herman gets the nomination..I hope he does the same. But like you said..we don’tknow.

Let’s face it..an electrified fence would come from the federal level. In today’s world..it ain’t gonna happen.

Just for reference..I don’t plan to vote for Perry in the primary..at this time. He could win me back..we’ll see.

Perry isn’t the best...he isn’t the worst.

I see a lot of hatred toward Perry from you while lurking. Who do you support?

I don’t know why we don’t just start with dredging out side of the Rio Grande. Every few years we have to dredge the Delaware because it keeps silting up. Let’s widen and dredge the Rio Grande to 50’ depth, which will let us concentrate more of our patrols west of it.

“At first, I thought this whole thread was a joke, a trick. Then I read your comment and realized that you people are for real! GOD help you, I can’t fathom the kind of hatred and “heartlessness” that could make someone say such a thing.”

I guess you never read what was going on in this country to fire up the people for the war against Japan. This is CHILD’S play compared to that, and I’m sorry (for you) that you’re not up to it.

In fact, the West’s biggest problem today is because way too many people REFUSE to deal with serious problems, at the risk of being called “heartless”. It’s causing Europe to fill up with Muslims that will soon be strong enough to start civil wars. It’s causing people today to sympathize with the brats at Wall Street, who simply need a spanking.

“And what do Cains comments here show us?”

He’s the first president that is willing to do what’s necessary to secure the border...and since he has no history either way, there’s at least a 50% chance he’ll do it (probably much more than 50% because he also seems to understand Islam). Others are expecting a governor with a history of coddling Mexico and Illegals to do a 180 once in office, and be willing to upset the Mexican government. That ain’t going to happen.

You are just wrong about Gardasil.

First, the Governor had legislative authority to do what he did.

Second, he gave the opt out more publicity than it had ever had before and made that opt out easier.

Third, Children on Medicaid, CHIPS, Indian Health Service and who didn’t have insurance were and are getting the vaccine free of charge to them, on the Vaccines for Children Program, by Federal law.

It’s ethically made the same way we make insulin and the hepatitis B vaccines that all babies get these days. It’s safe - the current estimate is that 60 million doses have been given over the world, 30 or 40 million in the US. It’s the most asked for vaccine for girls and our parents are now asking for it for the boys.

The only reason for pap smears is to check for changes in the cells due to HPV.

We’re seeing a decrease in abnormal paps (along with the repeat paps that are the result) in young women, already. The more aggressive forms of HPV that cause changes in 5 years are the ones we’re stopping.

Poor old Rick Perry cant take a whiz without being accused of fondling his fudgies, but Mr Cain seems to be able to say the most outrageous things with no criticism.

It’s wearing pretty thin.

There are military bases already in the border states. The use of military personnel makes sense and it would provide good training. How much of our efforts in Iraq are the control of insurgents from border nations like Iran? Providing boots on the ground from them would be a way to go.

They could also try out and get training in new technology which would help in other areas of warfare.

Of course it is not feasible. Enforce existing law, pass some new ones, and the problem is solved.
Or waste money building a fence and see flotilla rides springing up everywhere. Baby on board every hot-air balloon. American troops have a hard time shooting combatants in Afghanistan because of innocent civilians in the vicinity; tell me they’ll be permitted to shoot down balloons with pregnant women and children aboard.
We’ll be the laughing stock of the Western Hemisphere if we build a fence.
There will be night flights, parachutists, hang gliders, tunnelers, and the old-fashioned method of bribery will always work too.
Fences won’t stop the problem. The law is the fence, and we let them hop it with impunity; indeed we reward them for hopping it.
Enforce the law.

Well it was when you posted it.

As I said, I lived there for 10 years.
Ca’s illegal immigration situation has not subsided with the “Federally” built fence.

In fact, Californians are fleeing to Texas.
