Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Saturday that part of his immigration policy would be to build an electrified fence on the countrys border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally...
Mr. Cain added that he also would consider using military troops with real guns and real bullets on the border to stop illegal immigration.
The remarks were among the most pointed yet by Mr. Cain about illegal immigration, and they come as he is enjoying a surge in national political polls on the back of his victory in a recent Florida straw poll..
It is not the first time that Mr. Cain has floated the idea of an electrified fence. He has told the story many times of a caller to his former radio show who chastised him for talking about building a border fence, saying that such an idea was impractical.
Its going to be 20 feet high. Its going to have barbed wire on the top. Its going to be electrified. And theres going to be a sign on the other side saying, It will kill you Warning. At an earlier rally, on the campus of Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tenn., he added that the sign would be written in English and in Spanish.
This nation has always been a nation with wide open doors, Mr. Cain said at the second rally. We want to make it easy for people to come through the front door. And were going to shut off the back door so you dont have to sneak into America.

At least he’s proposed an idea. Just because maybe it’s not the ultimate solution but it can start a discussion. Everyone keeps predicting his demise and yet he keep rising. Because he’s clear & concise & tough. It’s not enough to say “we need to close the border”.

NOW THAT IS FUNNY!
Thanks.
“Private property rights, the right not to have government take property is one reason for the Declaration of Independence.”
WRONG. The RIGHT for the government to take property is contained in the 5th Amendment to the US Constitution. You may want to read it some time.
The guy who gave Amnesty?
Don’t get me wrong, I thought Reagan was a great man, but let’s get real.
For a man who supported RR you sure don’t seem to believe Americans are capable of much. And I doubt RR would call people wanted their border defended idiots etc.
To All...
Why so many excuses of why we ‘Can’t” defend the border on this thread? Because the anti-fence types keep repeating liberal talking points does not make them true.
Money? We spend billions supporting terrorists. Spend that on the fence instead.
Tunnels? Ground penetrating sonar with patrols.
And lastly, the life of one American is worth more to me than all the illegals and would-be illegals combined. Do you naysayers of the fence and deadly force agree or disagree?
Simple question. Answer it.
“The country is broke. Where would the money come from?”
It comes from reducing all the boots on the ground, once a wall in place. It costs next to nothing to guard the 14 miles of wall south of San Diego.
“Cain Proposes Electrified Border Fence”
You know, I hate it when others say that they “love” a politician but Herman is making me think some REALLY fond thoughts of him.
Are you buying it and installing it?
You got permission from the land owners?
All Cain has done is answered the "so what". What remains next is for someone to ask Perry just what are all those "boots on the ground supposed to do"? The answer should be the same the Cain gave (unless Perry wants to give our troops rubber bullets.)
HE’s not electrocuting them their PARENTS who chose to try to sneak them through a clearly marked fence are. Those coming across are responsible for themselves. It’s not our responsibility to keep them safe.

Excellent idea! In addition to the electrified fence, he should have a ditch and guard towers as well. Oops, I just identified the Nazi camp better known as Dachau. Buy hey, giving red meat to the base always goes down easy, but doesn’t get digested too well once scrutinized.
I got ya, Brother.
I was referring to those fu*king solar panels “actually working”. I’m in southern Texas and I know full well what our weather here can do.
Frankly, I’m all for running some razor wire with some strategically placed claymores. I think that would do the trick. And as an added bonus, they are environmentally “friendly”!
What a deal!
This is shockingly good news!
“Are you buying it and installing it?
You got permission from the land owners?”
What the hell are you talking about? I thought your type kept PREACHING to us that it’s a NATIONAL ISSUE...so I don’t really care what the land owners think. I feel the same way when I highway needs to get built.
Sorry if that upsets you.
Bet it'll work, period!
:)
Perrywinkles loveng on each other, so sweet.
“All I have heard from Perry is “boots on the ground, boots on the ground”, but nobody has asked him the “so what”?
All Cain has done is answered the “so what”. What remains next is for someone to ask Perry just what are all those “boots on the ground supposed to do”? The answer should be the same the Cain gave (unless Perry wants to give our troops rubber bullets.) “
They should also ask him how he plans to pay for these “boots on the ground”. Anyway, Cain covered boots on the ground in his speech (i.e., the military), and it was IMMEDIATELY DISMISSED by the Romney-bots on this thread.
Never said that and you know it. Don't put words in my mouth. Look at the title of this thread. "Cain Proposes Electrified Border Fence" Reagan would never, EVER, have supported electrifying the Tex-Mex border.
May be you'd like to see land mines and machine guns on the Tex-Mex border too. Nativist nonsense! Calling John Tanton.....
No doubt in my mind, the Mexican government will allow a fence to be built on their land. /s
As for cows being normal...and drinking from troughs...how would that work out for a herd of hundreds?
Just questions that enter my mind.
