Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Saturday that part of his immigration policy would be to build an electrified fence on the countrys border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally...
Mr. Cain added that he also would consider using military troops with real guns and real bullets on the border to stop illegal immigration.
The remarks were among the most pointed yet by Mr. Cain about illegal immigration, and they come as he is enjoying a surge in national political polls on the back of his victory in a recent Florida straw poll..
It is not the first time that Mr. Cain has floated the idea of an electrified fence. He has told the story many times of a caller to his former radio show who chastised him for talking about building a border fence, saying that such an idea was impractical.
Its going to be 20 feet high. Its going to have barbed wire on the top. Its going to be electrified. And theres going to be a sign on the other side saying, It will kill you Warning. At an earlier rally, on the campus of Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tenn., he added that the sign would be written in English and in Spanish.
This nation has always been a nation with wide open doors, Mr. Cain said at the second rally. We want to make it easy for people to come through the front door. And were going to shut off the back door so you dont have to sneak into America.

There was a drowning at Burke Lake some years back and the family weren't able to read any of the 16.
Stuff happens no matter how careful you are.
A white picket fence with freekin Lasers on top.
Hate to tell you but the drug people normal kick them in the head, why bother with transportation.
>> the lack of political experience is going to do him in
I think he’s indifferent to Political Correctness. But he still needs to understand the cost of being cavalier.
“If he really said this then his rise is over.”
So, it’s open borders, no fence, no border patrol, with signs that say, ‘Come one, come all’...that’s what you want, eh? Maybe you need a candidate like O’Rom-Perry...more to your liking?
You have not been listening to what Perry has been saying or what he has been doing for the past several years. However, if the Feds don’t do their responsibility, then it is pretty much wasted effort.
He is telling a half truth.
Basically Perry said He could see an open border if Mexico would clean up its act and become law abiding.
“Lets do it on YOUR LAND WITH YOUR MONEY”
Well, since I’m already paying their healthcare, ‘education’, and who knows what other services that they can get here in Texas, since we don’t ask immigration status...I’m game for paying for the fence, and yea, they can have my house and land (in Houston) if they want it (for whatever reason). I’ll just buy another.
You really can't be that stupid?
That is where being a pizza salesman has it's advantages. People will eat anything, even a cardboard pizza, if you yell, "9.99!"
Perry should have just said:
"I favor The Israeli Strategy".
Now you can pretend that the slave wage employers are simply helping people to have a better life but many of us think they are engaged in predatory practices that should be subject to capital punishment.
So far I haven't seen any of you people on the other side propose any sort of compromise ~ like maybe executing only every other illegal employer, or simply sending them abroad themselves to Uganda perhaps to work as free labor on a vegetable farm.
Have you contacted your congressman?
Did he vote for the in state tuition thing?
All but 4 in the state did, and that made the law veto proof.
“You know it is a legal obstacle to placing federal troops on the border.”
I didn’t realize that we aren’t permitted to defend ourselves against foreign invasion. Link please.
That river is Texas’ backyard. This land does not belong to the government. Private property rights, the right not to have government take property is one reason for the Declaration of Independence.
and our children live here. What an impractical idea, ridiculous
!
apparently not, and either do most of the posters on this thread.

As to Sanctuary cities, The Gov has nothing to do with those.
They are created by rogue mayors.
These tunnel builders are well financed!
Stop the phony indignation, however. You've been a member of FR for 4 days. I've been here for 12 years and its a fact, FR is a Romney free zone, you clown. In my book Romney is the enemy. And if you want to electrify the border fence, you're an IDIOT!
Reagan's mistake wasn't pulling out of Lebanon. It was going in in the first place. And if Ted Kennedy hadn't gutted 2 of the 3 provisions of the IRCA of 1986, Reagan's plan to secure the borders and hold employers accountable with up to a million dollar fine would have worked and would ahve STOPPED most illegal border crossings in their tracks.
1/8th mile on our side should be fine.
“Who is going to drag a baby across the desert and hang them on a fence, their caring parents,
drug cartels”
And we should let them in because of that. You’re so ‘heartful’.
