Cain Proposes Electrified Border Fence
Pravda- NY Times Division ^ | 10/15/11 | Wyatt

Posted on 10/15/2011 4:18:53 PM PDT by VinL

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Saturday that part of his immigration policy would be to build an electrified fence on the country’s border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally...

Mr. Cain added that he also would consider using military troops “with real guns and real bullets” on the border to stop illegal immigration.

The remarks were among the most pointed yet by Mr. Cain about illegal immigration, and they come as he is enjoying a surge in national political polls on the back of his victory in a recent Florida straw poll..

It is not the first time that Mr. Cain has floated the idea of an electrified fence. He has told the story many times of a caller to his former radio show who chastised him for talking about building a border fence, saying that such an idea was impractical.

“It’s going to be 20 feet high. It’s going to have barbed wire on the top. It’s going to be electrified. And there’s going to be a sign on the other side saying, ‘It will kill you — Warning.’” At an earlier rally, on the campus of Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tenn., he added that the sign would be written “in English and in Spanish.”

“This nation has always been a nation with wide open doors,” Mr. Cain said at the second rally. “We want to make it easy for people to come through the front door. And we’re going to shut off the back door so you don’t have to sneak into America.”

"President Fox’s vision for an open border is a vision I embrace

Why didn't you post the rest of the sentence Barnacle:

"as long as we demonstrate the will to address the obstacles to it. An open border means poverty has given way to opportunity and Mexico’s citizens do not feel compelled to cross the border to find it. It means we have addressed pollution concerns, made substantial progress in stopping the spread of disease, and rid our crossings of illicit drug smuggling activity. Clearly we have a long way to go in addressing those issues"

It couldn't be that you omitted it in an effort to make Perry look as bad as possible, could it? Nah....you wouldn't be that dishonest, would you?

This is the equivalent of MLK's "I have a dream speech". A utopian wish.

“You mean like these tunnels, below, that were built under the U.S./Mexican border under the currently existing portions of the Fence?”

As I remember, they used it for running DRUGS, not people. Try running a 1000 or so people through there every day and how they’ll avoid detection, on either side of the border.

I know that it has been twisted over the years and has taken a whole new life.

But there it is.

The country is broke. Where would the money come from? In order to station military on the border, Congress would have to change the law. The fence or barrier should not just be on the southern border, but increased drones or aviation on the northern border. This will likely bite him as far as LEGAL Hispanic vote is concerned.

“Here in Fairfax County Virginia we regularly mark dangerous lakes, etc. with signs in 16 languages.

There was a drowning at Burke Lake some years back and the family weren’t able to read any of the 16.

Stuff happens no matter how careful you are. “

If a few illiterate illegals get killed, then tough. In any case, I’m sure we’ll have some very effective symbols of people getting shocked. And if they can’t read, they will HEAR about the electrified fence, most likely on TV over there.

Finally, why have any border security? On parts of the border we drive them (literate or not) into the Arizona desert and many don’t make.

Let me get this straight. You say Reagan would have electrfied the Tex-Mex border. You’re nuts! LOL

And having been here as long as you have, you must know. Attacking someones screen name means you lost the debate.

I have no idea why you’re acting like such a fool. Carry on if you must.

If he said that he uses the toilet after waking up,

He sure better not pee on his fence!

Hardly Reaganesque.

Well tell us what your buddy Ron Paul would do about the borders? [snicker]

“Have you contacted your congressman?
Did he vote for the in state tuition thing?

All but 4 in the state did, and that made the law veto proof.”

Yea I heard that line and have responded to it several times in several different way, but I’ll simply ask you a question:

WHY THE HELL DOES HE KEEP DEFENDING IT?

We could probably use recombinant DNA tech to give them really great teeth ~ that would increase the challenge. But how do they do in fresh water or are we going to have to start adding salt?

I tell Mexicans who are angry with the US about immigration policys that they should take their beef to the Mexican Gov since they are the ones who are screwing them.

You should see the looks I get! LoL
But mostly I get them to capitulate to the idea that Mexico is the heartless bastard who puts them in an untenable position.

I then work on them understanding that illegals are breaking the law of our land, and should not expect a hug and a kiss.

You've seen it. Lots of emotional euphoria over Cain's 999 tax plan around FR right now. Just not much objective analysis.

“As to Sanctuary cities, The Gov has nothing to do with those.
They are created by rogue mayors.”

A desperate way to defend a desperate candidate. Like it or not sanctuary cities can be PROHIBITED by a state (assuming the governor isn’t ‘heartless’”.
