Bill Maher bets $1 million Herman Cain won't be Republican nominee

Bill Maher may be anti-religion, but he's got faith in one thing: Herman Cain won't be the the 2012 Republican Presidential nominee.

Maher bet CNBC correspondent Michele Caruso-Cabrera $1 million that Cain won't earn the GOP nomination, and shook hands on the wager during Friday night's taping of his HBO political comedy show Real Time with Bill Maher.

Caruso-Cabrera was arguing that Cain's "incredible likeability factor" could carry him all the way when, Maher snarked back that he'd put a million dollars down against her one dollar that Cain won't win the nomination because Republicans can't deal with a non-white candidate.

Seriously NEWT? One totally un-electable. 2. That guy would have Hilary as is VP if he ran... You have no idea what you are talking about.

You can't actually believe Newt would pick Hillary Clinton as VP?

I have no problem at all with Newt as a VP pick

He would be like a Cheney to whoever the nominee is

If Bill loses the bet, he’ll handle it the way Dems typically handle such things—he’ll welch on it.

If you dislike the Tea Party and Herman Cain as much as you state, then why do you spend your time on FR?

You are correct.

Libs know Obama is probably going to lose, so they are pining for Romney as their consolation prize.

“Interesting point, however I see the plan as being 10% revenue negative. This, with obstacles put in place to prevent the government from increasing its revenue, have the net effect of reducing government spending and size.”

Maybe so, but I think we are beyond the point where tinkering with tax policy would cure the problem. I do not want the people who got us into this fix to even decide how we are going to get out of it.

I am glad to see you are ignoring the idiots who come unglued when faced with logic.

One jerk wagon covering for another jerk wagon.

Ngat, if what you propose is your version of logic i.e. "There is so much wrong with 9-9-9, that I can't go into it here" there is no hope for you.

And that other SON OF A PIG, that starts by calling TEA party folks stupid lemmings, and then ducks for cover, has the balls of a gnat {ohh, that a twist on your screen name, you little ngat/gnat}.

This post has been provided by an unglued, idiot, lemming TEA party member, that has donated to Herman Cain, has studied his 9-9-9 interim tax proposal and thinks with calm, reasoned clarity that you two can ESAD.

Because the 9% sales tax would replace the SS and Medicare taxes.

How would this effect people who are retired? People who paid SS and Medicare taxes all their lives and are now living on monthly SS checks?

It seems to me that a 9% sales tax would hurt retirees.

How are they going to force us to vote for “their” nominee in the primaries?

They aren’t.

They can’t.

A world without gazillions of IRS auditors. Maybe a couple of IRS buildings in toto, of a total of 4 floors max: one for office people and one for systems people.

Drastic reductions for paperwork, forms, tax compliance departments, trainings on new tax laws, paper and printing contracts, distribution/mail logistics, and time to deal with all the cr@p you jump through now.

This is a concept.

Because I was reponding to a post that person had first addressed to you. So, just a courtesy, as I was “jumping in” to a discussion between you two.

What substantive difference does it make if the tax we are talking about is called the payroll tax, the Social Security tax or the monkeys-fly-out-of-your-ear tax?

The point about the whatever-you-call-it tax remains.

The tax is not “piled onto the ones we have now.”

Have you read through any of the threads discussing this detail? I linked to one earlier.

Like Ryan, I have seen where Forbes has said that Cain’s plan opens up the discussion on tax reform - and he heartily approves of that. I have also read that Forbes is advising Perry on his economic plan, a plan that will be unveiled soon. Supposedly, Perry’s plan might center around a Flat Tax.

This will be great, it will push our country toward serious tax reform - getting the candidates to come out with these plans AND getting a Republican-controlled Senate & House - they will not go against a Republican president - and THIS may be the beginning of true tax reform.

I think H-CAIN needs to work on that plan of his, but at least he has one on the table in the works before everyone’s eyes before he defeats the WhiteHouse Occupier who has no plan except that which was based on the Jonathan Gruber/Mittens Romney blueprint and campaign mirroring (except with less zeroes behind the pricetag and bureaucracy) the monstrous and disastrous Obamacare economy/liberty destroying scheme.

With far less resources staff and political experience H-CAIN is advancing and leading the way. He has the heart and credibility. of course slick establishment candy-date mittens looks and is strong with his connections and previous work running for president but he is still behind H-CAIN in more substantial ways. Lets not let the status quo which produced the era of mediocrity corruption and manipulation that has fallen upon our land determine who we elect again!

I have said for a while that anyone who is not pushing major tax reform is not serious about solving our country’s problem and vouchsafing our future.

I honestly never thought I would see this major reform in my lifetime, though. So this is fantastic that Cain has boldly started this conversation and is forcing the other candidates to up their game as well.

My initial take on your info is that if Perry comes out with a plan similar to 999, it will boost 999 and Cain, but not Perry. Just my first reaction.

>>This site is stuffed to the gills with detailed critical questions and criticisms about his 9-9-9 plan.<<

Most all that I have seen with seriously flawed concepts of what the plan actually is. It’s those who understand like Laffer and Ryan who have given the plan an enthusiastic thumbs up.
