Will tea party purists back imperfect Romney? (MSM says Tea Partiers can't win without Romney)
Communist News Network ^ | 2011-10-14 | Gloria Borger

Posted on 10/14/2011 6:29:56 PM PDT by rabscuttle385

After watching the GOP presidential debate the other night, it was hard to avoid this conclusion: Mitt Romney looks more and more like the GOP presidential nominee. He's the best debater. He's got his issues and his rejoinders down pat. He brushes away his opponents like lint on his lapel. And all with such ease.

That said, there's a teensy problem he just can't seem to beat: Conservatives don't like him. Or trust him. Or really want him to be the GOP nominee.

Sure, you say, Republicans never like their nominees, and they still manage to vote for them. There is truth to that: At this point in 2007, John McCain was still at 17% in the polls. Eventually, only Sarah Palin could make him palatable to conservatives. The Bushes were never right-wing faves. Neither were Richard Nixon or Gerald Ford. Even Ronald Reagan had candidates running to his right. And as for Bob Dole, well, he was suspect, but at least he was a war hero.

This year was supposed to be different. This was to be the time for the tea party to flourish and nominate a true believer. It's the moment, we were told, for an out-of-the-box Republican who would be against everything Barack Obama supports, like health care reform or bank bailouts.

Fine, except that Mitt Romney's Massachusetts health plan was a model for Obama (as the president fondly points out). And Romney told us during the debate that he supported the bank bailouts. ("Action had to be taken.")

If this keeps up, the tea partiers will be back at the harbor -- throwing themselves in.

Or, they can decide to suck it up and try to win.

Newt is the closest one to Wm. F. Buckley as a debater. Still a thousand miles away, but the closest one.

These are state laws and most of them passed years ago. By Democrat state legislatures? I’m not sure but it seems likely. The idea of the Dems using them to keep a real conservative from becoming president seems to be relatively new.

The Good News: All of this shows that the people are moving conservative, and the liberals are trying everything to keep the “worst” from happening.

The Bad News: This year will be worse in this regard than 2008, because the Dems have no presidential primaries (yet, and probably won’t).

The Good News About the Bad News: Since the hoi polloi are always more interested in the presidential race than downballot races, and they may not even be aware of what’s what at the congressional level, this phenomenon may allow good congressional and senatorial Republicans to be elected in the primaries.

It is probably too late to change this. State election laws are already in place for 2012. We can try to stop this in the future, though, especially if the trend toward Republican state legislatures continues.

No matter what the mainstream media says or does, I will not vote for Romney. I’ve held my nose to vote for a RINO once (2008) in the recent past. It will not occur again. Period. I refuse to listen to “what-ifs” predicated on winning being the primary thing, in that context. It is better to have a genuinely decent candidate and lose than to compromise one’s ideals and elect a fraud.

Exactly.... RINO Romney is just Obama-lite. He’s an enemy within and I say let the Obama administration and the democrats finish the detroitification of the country and get FULL CREDIT.

I’m NEVER voting for a RINO and will vote for a conservative legislature in order to limit the damage. But the days of me voting for a northeast RINO, freedom hating, gun grabbing, baby killing, tax loving quisling are done.

I just LOVE the way you can see the supposed fair and balanced RINO butt munchers falling all over themselves for Romney and Christie. It’s all the same bureaucrat elite that all attended the same private schools, went to the same northeastern or liberal university and make their money off the Washington/New York government/information/propaganda/legal industry. The shovel ready jobs are for the shovelfuls of paper work and BS they put in our lives.

“Voting is not an exercise in futility..get a grip. Of course there is fraud..but we don’t have to worry about being shot while casting a vote or dipping our fingers in blue ink. Treasure what we have.”

I do treasure what we have, and I was not referring to fraud.

If the candidates we have on the ballot represent no material difference and it is perceived that nothing changes by voting, then in the long term that WILL be the end of our system of government. People are not going to volunteer their time, lives, or treasure to defend what they perceive to be a sham.

The percentage of the voting age population who actually bothers to vote has been declining over time (although 2008 was something of a high water mark). Roughly half bother to show up. That’s very low by world standards. Also, take into account the percentage of Americans who actually approve of the job that Congress does. That’s hovering somewhere in the single digits.

Think about that for a moment. 90%+ of the population thinks that their elected representatives are not doing a good job. Heck, you can’t get 90% of Americans to agree on anything, other than perhaps that breathing is a good idea.

Elections have to matter.

Gloria is a foot soldier int he army of media deceivers trying to determine whom conservatives have left to vote for. The key to this election cycle is turnout. Everyone knows it and if Milt Romeny (rhymes with hominy) is the feckelss pubby nominee, the voter turnout with favor the barry bassturd and thus end the rise of conservatism in the House and Senate as the commie drags other socialist democrat candidates to victory. Bitches like Gloria know this and are working hard to insure the feckless elitist republicans nominate someone who can suppress turnout. Milt is their candidate, the media’s candidate, the socialist democrat’s candidate for the republicans, not for them.

I was referring to the fact that McCain was going to get his clock cleaned. But Sarah made his defeat less painful.

Perhaps Myth is trying to do the same with a Tea Party candidate.

“The MSM isn’t really Main Stream at all....and frankly I’m not going to use that term anymore.”

How about “lamestream misleadia?”

Dangerous? I don’t know how to rank them against the schools, the State Department, and the courts. And, of course, our endless ocean of leftist bureaucrats.

I will let you guess who said what...and when. And it was pushed by the media of the day. The same thing is going one now...If you don't believe it. Okay. But you should.

"Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it."

"Print is the sharpest and the strongest weapon of our party."

"Propaganda must not investigate the truth objectively and, in so far as it is favourable to the other side, present it according to the theoretical rules of justice; yet it must present only that aspect of the truth which is favourable to its own side. (...) The receptive powers of the masses are very restricted, and their understanding is feeble. On the other hand, they quickly forget. Such being the case, all effective propaganda must be confined to a few bare essentials and those must be expressed as far as possible in stereotyped formulas. These slogans should be persistently repeated until the very last individual has come to grasp the idea that has been put forward. (...) Every change that is made in the subject of a propagandist message must always emphasize the same conclusion. The leading slogan must of course be illustrated in many ways and from several angles, but in the end one must always return to the assertion of the same formula."

"Propaganda is not an end in itself, but a means to an end. If the means achieves the end then the means is good.........the new Ministry has no other aim than to unite the nation behind the ideal of the national revolution."

I happen to think that history repeats. And I also happen to think that today's American media is the most dangerous...to America today. They are decidedly Left Wing. They control up to 90% of what is being "told" to the regular people...and they are responsible for untold, and countless errors, deflections, shadings, lies, about those they wish to destroy.

FWIW-

Gloria, honey, I’ll take the establishment nitwit over the communist any day.

That being said, I really hope Romney does not win the primary.

I guess I wrote unclearly.

I meant to say that the lamestream misleadia, the schools, the courts, the State Department, and the sea of leftist bureaucrats are all blood enemies of the constitution, each so deadly that I couldn’t decide which one was worse.
