Gov. Rick Perry Remarks on Energy Policy and Jobs (VIDEO and TRANSCRIPT)
C-SPAN ^ | Oct. 14, 2011 | Rick Perry

Posted on 10/14/2011 1:56:18 PM PDT by Clairity

Republican presidential candidate and Texas Governor Rick Perry announced his energy policy and jobs plan, his first major policy address since entering the presidential race. The event was held at a U.S. Steel plant outside of Pittsburgh in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania.

The Governor estimates his plan will create 1.2 million American jobs by opening federal land to more energy exploration and production including the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska, overturn some of the EPA's recent clean-air regulations, and phase out tax incentives for development of renewable energy.

Before I go back to the video, Perry is talking about the new technology of getting natural gas from rock, the shale formations underground across much of America.

I happened to post this info the other day about fracking and the shale formations, getting natural gas from rock underneath the ground.

I am somewhat familiar with this as we live in an area in Texas where getting natural gas from this shale rock has begun our country’s new adventure into this new energy source.

Here are some links to help some of you understand some of what Perry is talking about other than just drilling for oil (which he is doing as well, by the way).

Here are a few bits of info some might want to know about new knowledge and technology called hydraulic fracturing or “fracking” that can produce oil, gas, and other natural energy from ROCK across the nation.

What exactly is this process called hydraulic fracturing, ie fracking anyway and how does that get oil and gas from rocks?

In 2009, Chesapeake Energy paid out more than $246 million in royalties in the Barnett Shale, for a total in excess of $1 billion in royalty payments to date in the Barnett. Joe Epps and his wife, Mary Ann, knew they wanted to do something special for their 60th wedding anniversary, and they had their sights set on an ocean cruise. The royalty payments they saved up for a few years from Chesapeake went a long way toward making that dream a reality. Joe said, from experience, that when royalty owners designate their checks for a specific account, good things can happen. “One check doesn’t mean a lot, but if you let that money accumulate, it has greater purchasing power,” said Joe. “This is free money. A gift to us that we would never have gotten before. And we can pass this benefit onto our children.” Joe and Mary Ann Epps, happily married for 60 years, took a cruise with some of their earnings.

NEW ONE (I forgot this the last time I posted, and it’s just too cool to forget about!)

It is always a fun thing to see the much-used city buses of Fort Worth, TX drive by and to see the sign on the side of each bus that says “This bus is fueled by clean, natural gas”.

How? See here:

Trend Alert – Natural Gas Powered Cars are the Future

There is so much natural gas beneath our feet that could be used for transportation purposes, to fuel garbage trucks, street sweepers, police fleets, public buses – right here in North Texas.

Natural gas is already being used for transportation in our area and elsewhere in Texas. A full 98 percent of the “T”s bus fleet runs on compressed natural gas (CNG), with buses re-fueling daily at the Fort Worth Transportation Authority’s private fueling station on East Lancaster Avenue.

D/FW International Airport uses more than 300 CNG buses to transport travelers to and from parking lots and operates a public CNG fueling station. The city of Dallas just added to its fleet more than 60 Honda Civic GXs, the cleanest car in the U.S. according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

***

Oh, and do notice on this same page that Texas has still included some other forms of natural energy as well. The Pitkins plan is also listed on this link, and some of the Texas electric companies actually strive for a certain percentage of their energy to come from windmills. There is always room for innovation and to see what works.

That’s not fair. Perry can’t keep talking like that. He’s sounding too much like Sarah. How are freepers gonna slam him that way. How could freepers just overnight go for someone so inexperienced? Isn’t that what the dems did?
999 is crap. Drill baby drill will create jobs.
I live in Montgomery County Texas if you don’t believe we are growing exponentially please come & visit & see for yourself.
Depression or Recession, it’s not happening around here.
If our next President (like Sarah) doesn’t have a drill baby drill mentality to creat millions of jobs & create energy independence then we might as well as forget it.
Obama has tried his hardest to shut down our state industries & put us into depression like the Northeast & California. Please lift the new stricter restrictions on our refineries & allow us to drill.
There are so many secondary small businesses around here that manufacture pipes, drill bits, etc etc.
Please whoever our candidate is please give us the freedom to work, produce & bring America back.
In full disclosure, I’m in the HVAC business & not in the oil business, nor do I plan to change my position.

The 999 plan is a non-starter. Would increase taxes on everyone, but bring them down. They don’t include state taxes and the taxes would be on food and medicine. Bad idea.

No vaccine law was passed, there was an opt out anyway. Therefore no vaccine doses were ever given. You miss the point. By the time a woman has symptoms, it is usually too late. Women can also be infected by their husbands. From a medical point of view, you start this vaccine a considerable time before an individual becomes sexually active. This does NOT condone early sexual activity. That is up to the parents to control.

Sorry, but the ENDS DO NOT JUSTIFY THE IDIOCY of shooting up little girls so that they can have wild and crazy sex in their teen years.

It’s unforgivable. If I wanted that much of a nanny state, I’d be donating to the Democrats.

I agree, it interferes with the ability of a person to understand why someone is being shot-up with a vaccine.

Why did it take 24 minutes to say "drill here drill now" when so many others have already said it more succinctly? Not exactly a radical new proposal. Gingrich and Palin too have both said it a lot earlier, and better.

Not wrong, just late and anticlimactic.

So, you support the candidate with the most money. Doesn’t matter what the person believes or really is.

Fact: Tea Party conservatives will not vote for a turncoat demrat who supported Gore and his climate change (aka global warming) nonsense. We will not vote for someone who signed hate speech legislation into law. We will not vote for someone who is beholden to scores of special interest groups. We will not vote for someone who believes illegal alien kids should get free college tuition. And we sure as hell won’t vote for some who calls those of us who believe differently “heartless”.

Upshot: Whether you like it or not Perrywinkle is unelectable. That goes for his buddy RINO Romney, too.

Yo normy—I do not waste my time with anything a RINO has to say. By definition, RINOs are demrats. Even if they’re not ideologically Marxist they have no problem running with that pack.

Why exactly should I trust an alleged turncoat demrat who supported Gore and his climate change (aka global warming) fraud. Why would I support a person who is beholden to scores of special interest groups? Why would I support a man who signed hate speech legislation into law. Why would I support a man who believes illegal alien kids are entitled to a college education at tax payer expense? And why would I support a man who says I’m heartless for not agreeing with him.

You can kick, scream and flail about all you want. Doesn’t change the bottom line. Tea Party conservatives will not vote for GOP RINOs. Been there, done that. The only thing that achieved was more RINOs.

The fact is, there is no national opposition party to the demrats. There hasn’t been for decades. The demrats own the GOP and I don’t see them relinquishing their hold on it any time soon. Your guy Perrywinkle and the other RINO, Romney, are cases in point. Might just as well vote for a demrat Marxist and be done with it.

Perrywinkle and Romney are unelectable. If you like either of these guys because you think they’re conservative why don’t you put your time, energy and bucks behind conservatives without the baggage? I’m talking about Cain,
Bachmann and Santorum.

Your admonition to vote for Perrywinkle just because he amassed a lot of money demonstrates the shallowness of yur thinking.
