Politico's Allen: 'Very Ruthless' Romney Campaign 'Roped In' Christie
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 10/12/2011 4:59:43 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

How does the liberal media turn a positive for a Republican front-runner into a negative? Ask Mike Allen of Politico. Instead of focusing on the political pluses of Chris Christie's endorsement of Mitt Romney, Allen has twisted the event into a negative that revealed the "very ruthless" efficiency of the Romney campaign. Moreover, if there's a politician around today who thinks for himself, it's Christie. Yet Allen insinuated that rather than making a reasoned decision, Christie was "roped" into endorsing Romney.

Allen made his sour-grape remarks on today's Morning Joe.

Whatever people think of Romney, here is a prime example of the liberal media trying to throw cold water on a Republican. Ping to Today show list.

Actually, nobody cares what Chris Christie thinks. Do you honestly believe people will look at Mittens twice because Christie wants to vote for him? The establishment is determined to get Obama re-elected. I wonder why?

Ruthless Schemer Romney in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

Methinks the “rope” was the promise of a cabinet position. Probably Attorney General.

I think Christie finally managed to make himself look small.

He was doing a decent job in his state of NJ and now he is just another politician.

Didn’t Mike Allen use to work for the National Enquirer? That’s what his “reporting” style reminds me of.

For anyone who saw Fox and Friends this a.m., they all but endorsed Romney. Also, they didn’t mention that the moderators were pushing Romney and gave him 75% of the questions/facetime.

Actually, the best way to get Obama re-elected is to nominate Cain. That’s a sure thing for Obama.

We have a very sad group of candidates. Only 3 could hold their own with Obama in a debate: Romney, Gingrich, and Santorum. I don’t want to vote for any of them. I really hope someone else jumps in that can speak and doesn’t carry the baggage of the others. Santorum would be ok until he speaks about his foreign policy. I’m done with the nation building. Romney is bright and will wipe the floor with Zero in a debate, but he is as trustworthy as a used car salesman. Also, his defense of TARP and global warming, plus Obamacare, are non-starters for me. Gingrich is a personal train wreck, but I would love to see him in an advisory role.

Mean. Funny. And true.

With Romney’s connections with Soros and the Marriot,
the deal from Team Romney to Christie
means that Christie is fed for life; but at what cost?

Christie will now be as believable here as ... Karl Rove.

i suspect CC doesn’t get roped into something he doesn’t want to do. period. as for Mike Allen, his definition and mine of what “ruthless” might be are worlds apart. he is a wuss.

CC as... Probably Attorney General.

A great way for Romney to show his committment to eradicating zer0Care. He'll just have CC as AG, the guy who won't join Virginia's 26-state court case against zer0Care, even though it would cost New Jersey nothing.

Hope and change is what voters want, not more establishment BS. Republicans (I’m now Independent and no longer a Party hack) need to decide which of the candidates will actually provide the most voters with H & C.

Those in establishment smoke filled rooms have already pre-ordained Mitt is my belief.
