Issa to Holder: “You OWN Fast and Furious”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa today sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder responding to his letter of October 7. The text of Chairman Issa’s letter to Attorney General Holder is below:
Dear Attorney General Holder:
From the beginning of the congressional investigation into Operation Fast and Furious, the Department of Justice has offered a roving set of ever-changing explanations to justify its involvement in this reckless and deadly program. These defenses have been aimed at undermining the investigation. From the start, the Department insisted that no wrongdoing had occurred and asked Senator Grassley and me to defer our oversight responsibilities over its concerns about our purported interference with its ongoing criminal investigations. Additionally, the Department steadfastly insisted that gunwalking did not occur.

Operation Fast and Furious was the Department’s most significant gun trafficking case. It related to two of your major initiatives – destroying the Mexican cartels and reducing gun violence on both sides of the border. On your watch, it went spectacularly wrong. Whether you realize yet or not, you own Fast and Furious. It is your responsibility.

Holder should be arrested and extradited to Mexico and let them them have first crack at him...and after that, send him to Arizona and let the sheriffs work him over. If anything is left, send him to Congress.

The imagery you use is just gross.
If there was a Republican in the White House this letter would be printed on the front page of the NYT, WashPost, and be the lead news item on the ABCCBSNBCPBS news consortium tonight...
Thank goodness there are alternative news outlets nowadays.
So is implementing a “sting” which knowingly requires multiple murders to achieve bureaucratic success.

“Following this briefing, it is clear that Grindler did one of two things. Either, he alerted you to the name and operational details of Fast and Furious, in which case your May 3, 2011 testimony in front of Congress was false; or, he failed to inform you of the name and the operational details of Fast and Furious, in which case Grindler engaged in gross dereliction of his duties as Acting Deputy Attorney General. It is fair to infer from the fact that Grindler remains as your Chief of Staff that he did not engage in gross dereliction of his duties and told you about the program as far back as March of 2010.”
To wit: that Grindler is still working for Holder is presumptive evidence Holder knew and approved of F&F.

The race card will let Holder and Obama skate on this, too.
The NBP voting rights case is the most egregious abuse of the rights of a race of people by a government since the 1930s, yet no prosecution there.
This is just a bad sequel of the failure of America to bust Clinton for his crimes in the 90s.

I give Issa a ton of credit on this.
In the first few weeks after info on Fast and Furious started coming out I really thought that this was a scandal that was going nowhere. It was obvious to me that the press was going to ignore it. Instead Issa has used his power to drag a reluctant MSM kicking and screaming toward a legitimate news story! I’m impressed!
Exactly right.
A wise GOP candidate will note that a certain voting block originating from south of the border will not look on this favorably.
That’s exactly why Issa should have enacted a surprise document seizure of the DOJ. He may have already done it but we won’t ever know. People involved will start resigning/retiring and this whole thing will just go away.
Looks like Issa and Obama has decided who to throw under
the bus. I doubt anything will come of this. Holder will
get a slap on the wrist like Clinton and Berger. Just like
with Clinton, you’ll know when someone starts to get too
close when the body count skyrockets.
