The Daily Approval Index Ping.
Posting from DFW on my way to my new home in Midland.
The Abyss (-1) is back. Good.
It also worries me in that obviously a fair percentage of those in the "Somewhat Approve" category extend beyond Odumbo's hard-core leftist base. It likely includes a good percentage of moderates and independents. Obummah has a little over a year to buy off another 10% to push him up over 50% "Approve" and "Somewhat Approve". Unless we can get a strong candidate with broad appeal to prevent that, Obumble may squeak in for another term, and that will doom us all.
This would be an American version of a parliamentary shadow govt. Obama and the Dems would be faced, not just with opposition, but with specific policies developed, not by a campaign staff, but by a party intent on their implementation.
These are, IMHO, the people who don't go into great depth of analysis, and tend to get tidbits from the MSM. I spoke with a friend who has been an Obama supporter. Her comments were that: 1. The Tea party seem like extremists, and 2 The Tea party is not willing to compromise. These talking points come directly, IMHO, from what the MSM is selling to the public.
My response was “Who are the extremists? A very loosely organized group of people from all walks of life who are united by the belief that people shouldn't be taxed at high rates, should be able to keep more of what they earn, and that government should have a limited role in their lives? Or, a group of people who self-identify as Marxists, think corporations and banks are evil, and who think that the government should provide for them for free?”
Her response: ‘But they don't want to compromise...’
“...don’t understand that 42% “Somewhat Approve”. What is there to approve of?”
Government checks.
You mean the people who want Mitt Romney to be the next presidential candidate?
These people are one and the same with democrats, IMHO.
I’m suspicious of the “strong approve” numbers. They’ve been spending a long time at 19-20%. Random statistical variation should have given us an 18% by now.
Over at RealClearPolitics, the poll average for right/wrong direction (the country is headed in) is 72.2 Wrong Direction. It appears that some in the squishy middle/moderate category are unable to bring themselves to say they disapprove of our first ‘black’ president, but get them to a safe question and the numbers tell a different story. Obama is in charge, and nearly three quarters of the country believe he’s taking it/us in the wrong direction.
Should’ve stuck the photo of th person cr@ping on the cop car in her face and said...”compromise with this?”
He’ll bottom out a year too early and rebound into reelection.
Three quarters of the country believe this and the election is going to be close? Hard to believe, but fight like hell until November 7, 2012. It ain't over til' it's over. . Then the rebuilding begins.
The only way the election will be close is if the GOP primary is screwed up (again). Open primaries, Dem-cross overs and ‘moderates’ gave us McCain. If they try that again, they’ll have a revolt on their hands. Let’s hope there is a sentient being in GOP leadership that perceives the danger of trying to shove Romney down our throats. If they try it, we will all regret it.
I don’t think it will work again, though. We’re sick of having the Ruling Class pick our candidates. This time we’ll overcome them w sheer numbers, and nominate a conservative.
Amen to that. So it's Cain or Bachmann. . and maybe Newt. Would Sarah respond to a draft at the convention?
Agree w your choices, Cain being my current favorite. As to Palin, one thing I have learned about her is that she is unpredictable. Your guess is as good as mine, as to whether she could be drafted later in the process. Right now I’m happy w Cain, but anything could happen as we get closer to Nov. 12.
What are they going to demand? Mosquito repellant? Free Gumbo?
Danny Glover would complain that there are too many red beans and not enough black beans with his rice.
