Ms Valles, 21, fled Mexico in fear of her life, hustling her parents, sisters, husband and one-year-old son into a 4 x 4 vehicle and hurtling across the border to seek asylum in the United States. They left just in time. That night a squad of hit men arrived at their small bungalow and ransacked the rooms.
"I would like to go back home," she said. "But if I hadn't left my country I wouldn't be alive now."
In spite of her diminutive size and sweet, girlish manner, Ms Valles had some powerful and vicious enemies. The criminology graduate was appointed chief of police in the small town of Praxedis G Guerrero, 50 miles east of Ciudad Juarez and a few miles from the US border.

In fact the Zeta drug cartels are very busy setting up their organization IN THE US-----IN DALLAS, TEXAS.
So far, Texas Gov Perry (a presidential aspirant) has made no move to close them down.
Maybe he's waiting til they finish college with in-state tuition? (/snix)
The media finds a strong-willed woman willing to serve as a police chief in Mexico who is then chased out and needs political asylum. For the media, that is a justification for amnesty for all illegal immigrants.
Likewise, the media will find a 12-yr-old girl who was raped and impregnated by her father and the media will use that as justification for government-funded abortion.
Find a sympathetic case, then argue for a broad, sweeping societal change which is not nearly so sympathetic.
It's a tactic.
“If the US citizens quit using drugs, the problem would go away. What is there about the US that drives people to drug use?”
Mostly the facts that the “if it feels good do it” and “its nobody’s business as long as its just me” crowds condone it, the hedonists of Hollywood actively promote it as harmless, and it serves the interests of trial lawyers to fill the court dockets and their pockets with the public money from being paid defenders of that which is indefensible, so they support it too.
I heard a report that the feds are going to crack down on the legal pot dispensaries in the US because the pot is so high grade AND grown here. That tells me they want to keep the prices high for the cartels with the ILLEGAL stuff coming in over the border. I don’t like it.
Oh I shall!
Might ping you on some European border stories too - sometimes it is good to know how other countries are failing to deal with the same problems!
I was in the sticks well outside Zacatecas. Rural community, hardscrabble farming - mostly subsistance with some small cash crops.
Arrived there after an accident, and just stayed for two years helping out in the school and mechanicing. Wife and kids loved it, so did I.
***Just something of interest, that I have not seen in the US media.***
It’s been covered, at least here in TX. For someone in hiding, I am concerned for her safety when I’ve seen videotaped interviews on television. I think some people may have the idea that the Cartels are only good at torture, and killing.
They are also tech savvy. They have expertise in logistics, accounting, chemistry, banking..Think of the things one would want in a successful global corporation..the cartels have all that, including friends in high places..It’s pretty scary.
Also, of interest:
All the hard to do stuff has been done. living is easy, with more leasure time than many know what to do with, not having the drive in the first place to ---->do something<----.
Thank you for the link!
Yeah, I worry about her being found, but I respect her for speaking out. The fact she is a graduate, a cop and, to be honest, pretty, will get far more interest than if she was some peasant farmer that had to run.
The Zetas, and the other cartels, are so evil that any and all information is useful on them. I hear some things from various friends in TX, AZ and Mexico, but not enough.
No more US tax dollars for Third World connivers.
How about no more US tax dollars leave the US until we clean up this mess.
You got that right.
This is a result of our government arming the drug cartels to try to restrict 2nd amendment rights, get obama’s re-election funds from the cartels and cause an influx of illegals for the dems voting base.

“So far, Texas Gov Perry (a presidential aspirant) has made no move to close them down.”
The only thing that is REALLY going to “close down” the drug cartels, and put them permanently out of business, is a “Chinese solution”.
In the early years of communism, how did the Chinese deal with drug dealers?
Just sayin’...
A Modest Proposal - simply shoot anyone who is found in possession of drugs. Sentence to be carried out within 24 hours of capture. Policy to apply to every nationality including Americans.
This would have the effect of (1) deterring possession. (2) Eliminating those people who do possess drugs (3) Keeping the price low (1 bullet = $0.?? when purchased in bulk) (4) Keep the lefty media busy.
Just to add local flavor here at Perryville ground zero of Austin, the Mexican drug cartel La Familia operates here in plain sight. They use Austin as a distribution hub into the deep south and mid-west. While Ricardo Perry chides us of being heartless, his state Capitol is run amok with illegals operating a massive drug cartel within view of his Governor’s mansion.

I suggest that everyone read the following report about Texas Border Security:
It was written by two military experts who each have extensive experience. The report seems long, but one can get the meat of it by reading pages 9-15.
Note the recommendations.
