AG Holder responds to critics on Fast and Furious
CBS ^ | Sharyl Attkisson

Posted on 10/07/2011 3:21:22 PM PDT by sunmars

In a letter to Congress, Attorney General Eric Holder has gone on the record with the most details yet about what he and other Justice Department officials knew about ATF's Fast and Furious operation, even though memos surfaced earlier this week showing multiple briefing memos mentioning Fast and Furious were sent to him as early as July of last year.

Holder says that his testimony to Congress, stating he first heard of Fast and Furious earlier this year, "was truthful and accurate... I have no recollection of knowing about Fast and Furious prior to the public controversy about it."

In his letter, Holder also criticized the House Committee investigating Fast and Furious, saying he cannot sit idly by "as law enforcement and government employees who devote their lives to protecting our citizens be considered 'accessories to murder'."

Holder maintains he didn't know about the controversial gunwalking tactics used in the case.

The Attorney General says that while he was sent received memos on Fast and Furious, they are "actually provided to and reviewed by members of my staff and the staff of the Office of the Deputy Attorney General."

As CBS News has reported, the Deputy Attorney General during Fast and Furious, Gary Grindler is now Holder's Chief of Staff. Documents provided to Congress indicate Grindler received a detailed briefing on Fast and Furious in March of 2010 and made handwritten notes on briefing materials.

However, in the letter, Holder says Grindler "was not told of the unacceptable tactics employed in the operation in his regular monthly meetings with ATF"

"I now understand some senior officials within the Department were aware at the time there was an operation called Fast and Furious although they were not advised of the unacceptable operational tactics being used in it,"

And if that fails, they’re going to try to pin it on Bush. That was previewed at the end of the CNN article that acknowledged the CBS break in the wall on Wednesday.

“stating he first heard of Fast and Furious earlier this year, “was truthful and accurate...”

Frickin’ liar!

My comment from another thread;

Check the date and contents of this Holder speech;

Attorney General Eric Holder at the Mexico/United States Arms Trafficking Conference
CUERNAVACA, MEXICO ~ Thursday, April 2, 2009

SNIP;

” I would like to thank the Mexican and U.S. experts who have worked so hard on this issue. On our side, Secretary Napolitano and I are committed to putting the resources in place to increase our attack on arms trafficking into Mexico.

Last week, our administration launched a major new effort to break the backs of the cartels. My department is committing 100 new ATF personnel to the Southwest border in the next 100 days to supplement our ongoing Project Gunrunner, DEA is adding 16 new positions on the border, as well as mobile enforcement teams, and the FBI is creating a new intelligence group focusing on kidnapping and extortion. DHS is making similar commitments, as Secretary Napolitano will detail.

Holder’s Justice Department.

Holder’s ATF.

Holder’s personnel, i.e., Holder has the blood of innocent people on his hands and it is/was HIS responsibility to prevent that by running his Department competently, efficiently and ETHICALLY.

He needs to be frog marched out of his office, and given the opportunity to help himself by testifying about how his boss knew all about this from start to finish, and nobody is going to tell me that the Kenyan wonder boy didn’t know.

This regime demonstrates it’s illegitimacy every hour on the hour.

Keep in mind, this IS the administration which believes it can get out of a hole by digging it deeper - the debt issue. Why would Holder be any different given that he believes so ‘hole’ heartedly in Obama’s philosophy!

The Attorney General says that while he was sent received memos on Fast and Furious, they are "actually provided to and reviewed by members of my staff and the staff of the Office of the Deputy Attorney General."

So I guess I can use that as an excuse to escape prosecution. I can also dispense with the annual training I get on computer security, and accountability.

While it may be true that they were "actually provided to and reviewed by...", it does not mean he did not read the email. In fact, it implies at least knowledge of the subject of the emails. He has to read at least some of his emails, and emails can be sent to more than one person. That is a feature of an email.

“Looks like he dug himself into an even bigger hole.”

Looks like he’s fishing for a prison sentence rather than a death sentence for the mass murder of Mexican citizens and our border agents.

Keep digging, you Marxist schwantz. It’s 13 steps and a short drop to eternity. That’s your destiny, Holder.

Everyone ignore the following. This is for a special person.

(To the troll who hacked my account on FR and posted vile crap in my name, please, please do one more. I’m so close to you that I can smell you. I’ve got you down to the state, city and street. When I catch you, you’re going to do hard time with Big Bubba for more years than you want.)

This is legalese for “I’m lying to you right now but I won’t admit it, so my attorney advised me to say “I can’t remember”.

There are other possibilities - he is lying because he and his minions have destroyed all their incriminating emails and memos, so he has nothing to fear about lying.

Or, he has a brain tumor which causes selective amnesia on all subjects related to Mexico and guns.

“The buck stops here.” You’re in charge, you incompetent boob! Or are you?

That was my take on Obama's presser yesterday. He claimed that Holder knew nothing about it. If true, do we really want a cabinet official that is ignorant of the operations of the department he heads? If the AG doesn't know what his own Justice Department is doing, then it's time to find an AG that will. And if he did know, then he needs to be brought up on charges. Either way, he goes.

You owe me some serious royalties, Holder.

Somebody needs to let this lying idiot know that the only people who are being considered ‘accessories to murder’ are him and Obama.
Sounds like he’s trying to divert the blame from the clown and himself to law enforcement and government employees.
Obama is going to throw him under the bus unless he can find someone else to take his place. Liberals are nasty little creatures.

does not read his own mail? um, not believable.

I believe it.

Basically his defense is, "I am incompetent, and was solely appointed to this position for other ... 'attributes'. I don't read mail addressed to me. I don't attend meetings, or the ones I attend I don't pay attention. To accuse me of these crimes is racist"...
