This is possibly the most offensive interview sequence Ive ever seen.
Lawrence ODonnell lectures and snidely criticized Herman Cain, who was a minor when Rosa Parks refused to sit in the back of the bus in 1955 and in high school for the desegregation fights in the late 1950s and early 1960s, for not participating in civil rights demonstrations later in the 1960s. The Freedom Rides referenced in the interview and as to which ODonnell lambasted Cain for not participating, were in 1961, when Cain was in high school.
Here are some memorable ODonnell questions:
Where do you think black people would be sitting on the bus today if Rosa Parks had followed your fathers advice [for Herman not to make trouble if told to sit in the back of the bus; my note, Cain was 9 years old at the time of Parks' act of defiance.]You watched black college students from around the country and white college students from around the country come to the south and be murdered, fighting for the rights of African-Americans; do you regret sitting on the sidelines at that time?
How easy it is for a liberal like ODonnell to lecture someone who lived through it. If this had been a Fox News interview of a black liberal candidate, there would be an uproar and demands for a firing.
"Where do you think black people would be sitting on the bus today if Rosa Parks had followed your fathers advice?"
Gee Larry, where are they today after voting for Democrats all these years and listening to greedy white Hollywood leftists like you?

Ah, yes. The typical lefty “Good Black” vs. “Uncle Tom” and “Good Jew vs. Bad Jew” narrative. THEY get to define who’s ‘good’ and who’s not. Despicable.
It bears repeating. Herman Cain was a child at that time. - The Democrat Party isn’t (and wasn’t) the friend to blacks they think it is. Now, keeping ‘em down on the liberal “plantation” (Democrat Party) is the name of the game . . and any “slave” that dares to run away from the plantation is raked over the coals.
I would love to see someone, anyone, just deck O’Donnell and Schultz and Matthews. They are disgusting.
Larry is unwatchable, but I may tune in on November 7, 2012 to see him wet himself.
Their heads are starting to EXPLODE!!
They would not be getting this freaked out over Romney or Perry.
It speaks volumes.
GOOD!!!!!
We are doing something right!
Absolutely. I’d pay good money.
The fiery socialist Laurence of Harvard lectures Cain about not being on the frontlines of 60’s integration protests?
Funny, I thought during those times Larry was sitting in a Catholic white boy’s prep school getting ready to brave the killing fields of Harvard.
I would love to see Herman say something like:
‘Now is my time. Instead of race-baiting and playing the victim card, I have been working hard, been very successful, and now want to tell my story to a generation of young americans that this country currently has opportunities for all peoples. I am a success story in this time when many black people are told that the cards are stacked against them. Why are other black so-called leaders on the sideline, still wanting to be a victim? That is the question you should be asking.’
Cain has made tremendous progress in his ability to handle gotcha interviews like this. Get’s better every time out.
If he had been out doing those things, he would have missed school entirely...........
Altho Cain handled himself well, he just should not even sit there and listen to that. I was waiting for Cain to tell O'Donnel that he'll not sit there anymore, and get up and leave.
What possesses our candidates to get anywhere near these fools?
“THEY get to define whos good and whos not. Despicable.”
Yep.
(And a good way to counter narcissistic leftists like that is to put them on the defensive for their own hypocrisies and failings- they’ll never know what hit them, because they’re so used to bullying everybody else).
It was a disgusting line of questioning, very insulting. Mr. Cain is a more decent man that I for remaining calm during the interview. I suspect he’s dealt with much worse growing up in the segregated south.
Larry O, who grew up as a white guy in Boston (oh, the hardship), then had the nerve to lecture Mr. Cain for “avoiding” the Vietnam War, despite the fact that Mr. Cain was working for the Dept. of Navy at the time.
By the way, O’Donnell, born in 1951, didn’t serve in Vietnam. Clinton actually dodged the draft, and Zero didn’t come close to the military.
O’Donnell has a college-age daughter. Why isn’t she serving her country?
I live in LA, and if I ever see Larry O’Donnell out on the street, it will be difficult not to kick his ass.
“you will be as gods, knowing good and evil”
Understanding where the left gets their worldview and ideology is not really all that hard.
Cain should have said, `Forget fifty years ago—why aren`t YOU out protesting on Wall Street with the other smelly liberals instead of wasting time pretending you have an audience NOW?`
Anybody that looks at Herman Cain and doesn’t know he is a black man is dumber than a rock. But when I look at him I see a multiple of things. First he is Black, second...I believe him to be totally honest, third...I see a man that has a true interest in the betterment of the United States. Fourth...I do not see a Black man that is using his race to become President. Fifth....I see a man that knows that he can’t fix this country by himself and needs all of us to help him. Sixth and most important....I see a man that I can trust. Not that he won’t make mistakes along the way, but will admit those mistakes and truly try and fix them.
Basically, it is refreshing to finally, finally, have a candidate that truly cares about the United States, knows that it is going to be tough to fix the country, but is willing to give it all he’s got to try.
Cain smoked him. Smoked him!
Hear, hear!
Am I the only one who thinks that LOD drew blood here? He got Cain to say he was only a high schooler — and then wham, he says “You were a college student from 1963 to 1967!” Cain had no good answer for that, and after a lame response, sought to change the subject. LOD was grinning like a cat with creamy whiskers.
Cain needs more study. There are a lot of picadors on the left, lining up to skewer him.
