In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, GOP Presidential candidate Herman Cain had harsh words for the Occupy Wall Street movement and the people who blame Wall Street for their financial situations.
Cain would also claim that the Occupy Wall Street protests are possibly a planned distraction to make people forget about President Obamas role in handling the economy.
Talking Points Memo reports:
Cain went on to blame the unemployed for their woes, saying, if you dont have a job and youre not rich, blame yourself!:
CAIN: I dont have facts to back this up, but I happen to believe that these demonstrations are planned and orchestrated to distract from the failed policies of the Obama administration. Dont blame Wall Street, dont blame the big banks, if you dont have a job and youre not rich, blame yourself! [...] It is not someones fault if they succeeded, it is someones fault if they failed.

The unemployed Mom’s basement dwelling punks occupying Wall Street have no one to blame but themselves. They need to forget about communism, take a bath, ditch the purple hair, get a haircut, unplug the nose rings, layoff the drugs, grow up, kiss their mommies goodbye and get a fricken life. And a job.
Sorry playing kiss face with the Left is not going to win you any votes. The left will always outbid you with the taxpayers check book
We tried your style campaign in 2008 with McCain, how did that work out for us?
Then I suppose no one should post a single story on FR, unless they’ve personally heard every statement and verified every fact. I’m showing some healthy skepticism about media reports...why is it that everything has to be explained around here as if to (nasty) children?
Agreed. How about the rest of the unemployed? 14 million Americans.
My point about Reagan coining the term Welfare Queen is factual. YOUR response by quoting a completely non relevant portion of Reagan's 1st inaugural has nothing at all to do with the point. There is nothing in that Rega quote that remotely resembles support for anything you are saying.
Read it again. NOTHING you posted there made any sense in response. It has NOTHING at all to do with the fact Reagan coined the term "Welfare Queen"
Reagan implement policies that helped the economy. And he did put a lot of blame on Carter during the election. I imagine Cain was taken out of context - but just saying “go out and get a job” implies that the President and congress have no power at all in which direction the economy goes.
Taxes, regulations, healthcare, and perhaps mainly the anti-American & anti-capitalism message preached by this administration are all causing companies to be leery of hiring, growing, or staying in the U.S.
Heck, even if you wanted to pull yourself up by the bootstraps and become a “rag man” and go around collecting old cothing to turn into rugs, etc. - just think of the license fees, inspections, etc. that would be required today! This is not your father’s Depression.
BTW - I heard one reporter talking about a guy that was at the Wall Street protest. He had QUIT his job so he could go protest the lack of jobs.!? (Okay - that idiot I would point a finger at!)
Bitter Clinger!
Mr. Cain said at the outset that he didn’t have the facts conceerning the protests, but he offered the interviewer his opinion os why they were occuring, and I agree with Mr. Cain. Organized protests to distract the public from Obama’s mischief and failures.
I doubt he was talking about young people. He was talking about people with families. Young people can blame the minimum wage laws for their plight.
But men and women with familiies to support should take any job they can get to bring in money for food and housing for their gamilies! unfortunately too many of them refuse to take a job less than the one they’ve lost and are happily collecting workmen’s c9omp, which the government keeps extending. Cut off the workmen’s comp, and those blood suckers would find a job fast enough! Wallstreet has nothing to do with it!
I think the protesters are those brainwashed people Mr. Cain referred to at one time.
God bless Herman Cain!
Plonk.
The term “Self-Made” is an alien concept for those protesting near wall street.
“Im beginning to think Im totally out of sinc with the majority of thinking around here.”
Think it, know it, believe it... it’s true.
I don’t agree.
# 1 - He’s right.
# 2 - These people would never vote Republican ANYWAY. I hardly think they are anything less than Obama Democrat Plants.
We can expect a lot of Romney backing going on from all sources and in all possible manners. After all, Romney is the candidate of choice for the Democrats as they think they have a better chance of beating him and, well, heck, if he DOES get elected, he’s the LEAST conservative of the pack. After all, this worked back in 2007 and 2008 when they railroaded a REAL nitwit, John McCain, into winning the nomination.
Cain and Bachmann were the best genuine conservatives running. Bachmann is gone. Perry was ALMOST a conservative but he crashed and burned over the Illegal Aline issue and poor performance in the debates. That leaves Cain or Romney. See the above. Have a great day.
Actually I don’t have one, and will support any Republican nominee over Obama. Not that it should matter since we’re discussing politics not advocating candidates, but out of the current field I happen to like Cain, which is why his comments bother me.
We’ve all lived through recessions and at times have been unemployed. We’ll live through this one. Get rid of the Marxists controlling government, get rid of ObamaCommieCare, get rid of the economy strangling Marxist regulations, shrink government, cut the taxes, and cut the damned spending already and the economy will come roaring back. As long as the poor mistreated darlings decide to continue voting for communist democrats and keep living off mama and government handouts, then they’re going to remain poor and unemployed. Get a fricken job already or start a business. Sell apples on the street if you have to. But by God grow up and take responsibility for yourself!! The taxpayer owes them NOTHING!!
Perhaps as in your case, it’s because there’s not much thinking going on...just nasty personal carping.
I think Herman Cain was asked about the Occupy Wall Street Group.
I think he was kind in his answer.
Cain was talking about the occupy wall street dumdums, NOT about people who have lost their job in general.
