"There is no public record of the operations or decisions of the panel, which is a subset of the White House's National Security Council, several current and former officials said. Neither is there any law establishing its existence or setting out the rules by which it is supposed to operate."

I'm with you.

Putting "death selection" in the hands of powerful men acting in secret and unconstrained by the rule of law, is tyranny. It doesn't matter whether the selection and execution is done by a Democrat or Republican administration, by the medicoes or the military: an Obamacare death panel, a secret White House NSC committee, a board of medical ethicists with PhD's after their names and ice-water in their veins, or the Reichsführer-SS. The outcome is the same. It's murder.

People are cravenly going along with this for now, because Obama has calculatingly begun by snuffing a guy that not many people will wring their hands and boo-hoo about. Don't we realize that that's how precedents are made?

This is the exercise of raw despotic power in a style V.I.Lenin would have loved. It is grounds for impeachment in itself: yes, moreso, I would say, that even Fast and Furious.

If we wink and nod at this, you and I, we are deeply corrupt and we will deseve everything we get. Including the final shiv between our own shoulder blades.

Anwar al-Awlaki was specifically targeted and killed by a U.S. C.I.A drone strike on Sept 30, 2011. He was never indicted or convicted in a U.S. court. While I'm quite pleased he is dead (my "feelings" are based on heresay), it is also a crime as to the method. There was ample time to indict and conduct a trial, in abstentia if necessary. As this final act was consumated, President Obama has committed murder in violation of the U.S. Constitution citizen's rights as explicitly recognized in the 5th and 6th Amendments.

Fifth Amendment – No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury.

Sixth Amendment – In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury.

Somehow the Obama administration has twisted the meanings of the remainder of the 5th Amendment's "in time of war" clause to allow non-compliance with its overall meaning. This clause is clearly limited to those serving in the U.S. military forces. Anwar al-Walaki was not.

5th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution - No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation.

“So many hypocrites on both sides. Conservatives say who cares he was a terrorist, oh wait there’s a secret list, that’s wrong!!! Liberals decry waterboarding arabs captured on the battlefield, and then stand behind Obummer when he bombs this guy.”

Come on, how many of the faces representing conservatives are out there worried about a secret list? Seriously—can you name even one besides Paul and Gary Johnson? Not one of the other primarying SOBs on the GOP side of the aisle cares about the issue. They’d rather have the power than have the principle.

Of course, there are plenty of cheerleading hypocrites on FR, but what else is new there? Every time a RINO gets outed, we see the FR cheer squad for them fade into the woodwork, only to trot out the latest faux conservative come the next election. And the fools fall for that divide and conquer crap every time. That’s why we get Rubios and McCains when we should have Pauls and DeMints. They’re working it hard this election, trying to get Perry or Cain or Romney to front-runner status, but they can’t get traction.

I know you’re a Cain supporter, but geez, ask yourself what Cain will do about this, when his kneejerk reaction to a foreign policy question is “Dunno, guess I better study up on that.” The guy is not ready for prime time, and while I’ve enjoyed listening to him on Boortz’ show, I can’t help but get the feeling he’s not 100% on the reservation when it comes to being a constitutionalist conservative. I’d like to think you’re right, that Cain’s a good option to avoid the crap tossed our way like Mitt Perry, but I’ve seen too many fakes to trust a guy without a track record in elective office any more.

I’m also with you. And you are absolutely correct about the fact that this sets a precedent. I’m just wracking my brain trying to understand why freepers are ok with this. As far as I know, there is nothing in our legal history that is even closely akin to this situation. I’ve heard WWII used as an argument, but that was a declared war. When did we declare war on Yemen?

I’ve seen the Immigration and Nationality Act mentioned as a reason for the action....but that act states the person in question as being actively involved the armed forces of another nation (when did al-qaeda become a nation-state?)...and if they want to analogize the situation using that statute, then we would be wrong in having Gitmo...if they’re equating this to dealing with a nation-state, then we’d have to adhere to the Geneva Conventions. If that makes sense...can’t have it both ways.

Even Megyn Kelly on Bill O’Reilly last night admitted it was murky, but didn’t think it was going anywhere. As I’ve said on my previous posts, if it can happen to one American citizen, evil man that he was, it can happen to us all and I don’t like it one damn bit. Especially when people like you and I are already labeled “terrorists” and “racists” because of our desire to adhere to the original intent of the Constitution and the founding of this country.

If DeMint were running, that would be great. But he isn't.

I was all set to just give up on this country...build up my mountain of beans and bullets and just wait for the violence of the coming collapse.

But truly, that is a sucky way to live, being hopeless. I suppose maybe I am foolish to be a tiny bit optimistic, but I just can't help it when I listen to Herman Cain. Have you listened to his speech from yesterday?

Cain speech 10/7/11

Look, I really don't know if we can dig ourselves out or if it will take a complete collapse for us to be able to rebuild. But while I am waiting for Attack of the Zombies, I'm going to hope that Cain is the real deal.

There was ample time to indict and conduct a trial, in abstentia if necessary>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

They could have tried Alwacky in New York City!!! After all Holder wanted to try GITMO detainees there, and that never happened, leaving NYC in the lurch? Buahahahahahahaha!

I have to laugh at the Obama administration.....they are essentially nationalist socialists, AKA fascists. People just do not want to admit that fact in public.

This pretty much sums it up:

I can assure you that we as a nation CANNOT rid ourselves of this accursed administration soon enough. The electorate was hoodwinked in 2007/2008. The MSM deserves payback big time.
