CNN: Conservative group to target Romney

First on CNN: Conservative group to target Romney

"If you support the principles of the Republican Party platform, as I do, then it's important that we make sure the GOP nominates someone who has supported and fought for those principles. On almost every single important issue facing America today, Mitt Romney has fought against conservatives and Republicans. He's been a liberal on fiscal issues, a liberal on social issues, and a liberal on national security issues," says Lloyd Marcus, Chairman of Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama, in a statement to CNN.

Perry is the only one going after Romney who we hate.

Why is that?

Here are mine.

1. Perry/Palin *
2. Cain
3. Gingrich
4. Bachmann

* If Palin declares, I’ll decide between the two based on their performance as candidates. I will contribute to both campaigns and let the best one win my vote.

Cain’s inexperience in political office is a non-issue for me because he will surround himself with solid conservatives and seek their wisdom in areas where he needs their experience. He is not a narcissist like Zero, so that prevents a scenario where he is unwilling/unable to listen to his advisors.

Gingrich’s personal baggage is not quite a non-issue for me but close to it. His positions on conservative issues and ability to discern the core problem/solution is enough. Like Perry on HPV, Newt made a mistake on global warming, but I can forgive it and move forward. Newt has the intellectual skills of Reagan.

Bachmann’s inexperience is an issue for me, but I can get past it enough to vote for her. She too will surround herself with solid conservative advisors and will listen. Her biggest problem will be leaping before seeking wisdom. I think her advisors will have to be proactive rather than reactive in order to prevent missteps.

And if she decides not to run, then I will be pragmatic and endorse...

Okay, I'm confused. So, do all the Freepers bide their time to wait to figure out who you will endorse? Lets say Freepers go ahead and support, say, Santorum. Then you endorse someone else, and decide you don't like Santorum (FURS). Are these Santorum backers expected to stop supporting their candidate at FR because you don't like it? Will they be banned?

I think of Obama as the enemy, not Republican candidates. Many conservatives think that Obama is a friggin' Communist, who is leading the US purposely to destruction. These conservatives think that above all it is imperative that a Republican defeat Obama to regain the White House. With a Republican House and Senate, a Republican President, even one with RINO tendencies, will save us from the irreversible and unmitigated disaster of Obama with a second term.

It seems that you are much more concerned that the GOP not nominate Romney than you are that Obama be defeated. That if the GOP nominates a candidate you like, that allows Obama to win, that'd be okay with you, so long as the GOP didn't nominate Romney. It is FUMR > FUBO. I don't see what is so conservative or patriotic about allowing Obama to win a second term.

Romney is the same as a Democrat. He’s worse than a RINO.

Perry has at least one big issue to overcome and that’s his support for instate tuition for the children of illegal aliens. If he is perceived to be weak on border security then he’s going to have large problems with conservatives. This cannot be ignored. His vaccination mandate (with opt out) is also problematic especially if it’s seen as crony capitalism. The rock problem is a non-issue. But he’s got his work cut out for him and he’s not going to win support by continuing to advocate for handouts to illegal aliens. He’s going to have to turn that around. Don’t ask me how, because I haven’t the foggiest idea of how he can overcome it. That said, if Sarah doesn’t run or fails to gain traction and Bachmann and Cain fall by the wayside and Perry appears to be our only chance of defeating Romney, then I’ll be with Perry 100%. We’ll fight President Perry on the border issue like we fought President Bush.

These problems are of his own making. You can’t blame others for bringing them up. Especially when he continues defending them the way he does. He’s going to have to figure out a way to overcome them if he wants all out conservative support.

Perry is the only one with a record of job creation. He has a solid relationship with the other Republican governors which will an important factor in the upcoming election.

Congress members and CEO’s seem to be the scum of he earth right now on the street. It will be difficult to attract independents to either Bachmann and Cain because that is where their records reside. Especially Bachmann.

Both Bachmann and Cain are great advocates for conservatives but neither have a stong record of leadership.

Don’t be lulled into thinking anyone can beat Obama.

I believe you’re missing the point. It’s not that FUMR > FUBO. It’s FUMR = FUBO.

Romney will run us into the ground just like Obama. Heading toward a brick wall at 75 mph is no less dangerous than doing so at 100 mph. Both speeds will kill you. Why not take your chances jumping out of the car? You might live.

I don’t believe just anyone can beat Obama. Did you notice that Perry is at the top of my list?

I just heard Bob Beckle on the Five (Fox News) say that if it ‘wouldn’t hurt the guy [Perry] he would endorse him...’ Thats a paraphrase, but man, ANY GOP candidate who could attract Bob Beckle’s endorsment is NOT gonna get my vote. My absolute favorite is Sarah of course, Michelle has sort of lost me, she has been a little too inconsistant. Herman cain, that man I really like. Seriously, my dream ticket is Cain/Palin or Palin/Cain. Either one will make me weep with hope for the first time since 2008.

I am so glad to heat the Honey-nitro is working! If you have more information on the products you are using, I would really be interested to know. Thanks Jim!

PS: Sorry to have been a pain in the neck in the past. I feel a lot better now that my birth documents have been validated, and made it into Jerome Corsi’s book. I can’t thank you and the Admin Mods for having the patience not to zot me, though I bet it was close a time or two! I am so proud to be a FReeper!!!!!

If we end up with either Romney or Perry as our nominee we’re in real trouble.

Well, unconfuse yourself then dammit. —Col. Blake

The Freepers can endorse or support whomever they choose. They don’t have to wait for me. I announced many moons ago that I’m all in for Sarah as soon as she announces.

Except there will be no campaign for progressive/liberal Mitt Romney on this conservative website.

I think Cain and Romney are sort of tag-teaming, although I really don’t know why. I was completely nauseated to hear Ann Coulter gushing over Romney on the radio this afternoon, btw. Apparently she was a Christie supporter, but now that he’s not running, she’s a Romney girl all the way. Sickening.

To stop Perry from doing what?

You have to help me out here, because I truly am *not getting it.*

This thread is about an effort by some conservatives to ensure that Mitt Romney does not get the GOP nomination for President.

Various FReepers have their own preferred candidates for president. Some do indeed support Herman Cain. You keep citing Cain's comments in regard to that rock on the hunting grounds Perry frequented.

OK, so I get why you perceive this in a way that disturbs you.

But what does Herman Cain's one statement have anything to do with the never-ending record of Mitt Romney fighting against Republicans and conservatives on every issue imaginable.

You can find something or another wrong or undesirable about every candidate.

However, none of the GOP candidates for president even comes close to Mitt Romney's Liberal RINO record. It's not even close.

So what am I missing?

I understand your point. My point is the others believe the same thing but just won’t say it and are going after Perry for something just to make points.

Would you rather Perry lie about it or turn against what his state has decided to do just to make conservatives happy?

He is talking about the children of illegal aliens. This is a group of children that have no country. They don’t know anything about Mexico. Their parents were the criminals and probably bought them here when they were quite small. Many of them have sisters and brothers who were born here and they get the same benefits as you and I.
Perhaps Texans are only showing compassion to them as victims of their parents crimes rather than making them pay forever. Maybe you and I wouldn’t show any compassion to them but lets not be too harsh on others who might have a different view about them. After all they have to live with them and we don’t on anythng like the scale of Texas.

They will never be deported and that’s not Perry’s fault.

If I were a one issue man....

Perry isn’t in bed with Mexico and Fox isn’t even president anymore.

Perry will benefit the most if the Conserv. groups actually go after Romney.

Just take a look at Cain’s 999 plan. He’s got a hugely sweetheart deal for “enterprise zones” that amount to a combination of affirmative action and reparations.
