We “Do Not Consider Perry a Factor… We Know Who it is Who Will be Our Nominee”
Race 4 2012 ^ | October 4, 2011 | Matt Coulter

Posted on 10/05/2011 1:03:21 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Those words were spoken today by Georgette Mosbacher, RNC Finance Co-Chair and huge GOP fundraiser, after Chris Christie’s announcement. The “we” is all the big bundlers, fundraisers, and money folks who have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for the field to be set — and that quote represents the coalescing around Mitt Romney that is expected to happen rather quickly now. Mosbacher went on to say:

“I think tomorrow, we’ll be contacting one another and probably put something together with Romney… And I would say that the race is now Romney and Obama. Quite frankly, the enthusiasm wasn’t there at the outset. He’s less conservative than a lot of us would like. However, our first and foremost goal is to defeat Obama. And we do believe Romney, in terms of independents, will be a strong candidate. We will coalesce behind him now… the time has come to get behind him… Tomorrow I’ll be on the phone all day. Quite frankly, it’ll be easier, because now we know who it is who will be our nominee. So we will pull our Rolodexes out and get to work.”

Fellow bundler and sideline-sitter John Catsimatidis added, “I’m going to go with Mitt Romney. I don’t think Perry has it in him to do it. He’s a lot better than Sarah Palin, but not a lot lot better.”

Ouch.

In related news, Romney also scored another major fundraiser from the Draft Christie movement: Ken Langone. Langone is the founder of Home Depot and is described as a “titan” in the political money scene. He backed Rudy Giuliani in 2008, helping Giuliani out raise the other candidates. There is evidence that a great deal of the money that had sat on the sidelines so far in this race will now fall into Romney’s coffers.

Rick Perry, for his part, got the endorsement of another Draft Christie member: Gary Kirke, a west Iowa investor and casino owner who had also been sitting on the sidelines until this afternoon.

Romney the RINO will be the Nominee, picked by the Establishment, and it will either be 4 more years of The Messiah (when Conservatives say "HELL NO, I'm done with this crap process"), or they do what the Republican Establishment wants, which is voting for their spoon-fed asshat......

Either way, America loses.

“But that’s neither here nor there. My point remains unchallenged that he should have been honest rather than lying and trying to spin his way out of it.”

yeah that is unfortunately what most people do when stuck in an embarrassing situation. But I don’t have a problem with his initial support for algore 23 years ago so that we wouldn’t get stuck with Dukakis.

"RNC....We will coalesce behind him now… the time has come to get behind him…"

This is the kind of thing that Palin could get a ton of mileage out of from both true conservatives, independants, and anti-establishment Dems, too.

She gets paid by the post and she's waiting for the next e-funds transfer before replying....?

That's my guess, anyway, for now, unless it changes.

Cheers!

The disappointed Perry supporters tell us that without him Mitt will win and I actually believe they WANT Mitt to win if Perry falls so they can have a big nyah nyah “told you so!”

Ya. Right. All my years here at FR point to me wanting Romney as Prez. For spite. /S

You really are pulling your opinion out of nowhere. Why is that?

“yeah that is unfortunately what most people do when stuck in an embarrassing situation”

Not anyone with an ounce of integrity. That situation would have been SOOOO easily handled by the truth. All he had to do was show his record and if it held up to snuff (I think it does on eco issues) then problem solved.

But he didn’t do that. He chose to lie. I don’t want that kind of man leading America as it’s no different than the lying Obama does now, though the subjects may differ. He lies to Americans easily. That’s my biggest problem with the guy.

people on this website are presenting a RINO as a conservative and lying about it

I haven't seen lies or coverups. Perry was put out there warts and all and I liked his basic conservative principles: 2nd amendment, anti-EPA (pro business), etc. I was on the fence with Perry until Florida, then saw the opportunity with Cain, and sent my $$ support to him. I still would never choose to post negatives about Perry or even Romney.

I don’t bother going to the polls to vote. 100 mph or 75 mph, both are going in the same direction.

There will be two, maybe three SCOTUS vacancies in the next term. WHOEVER is the Republican nominee he or she is almost guaranteed to give this nation a more conservative SCOTUS bench than Obama.

None of us can afford to sit this election out and let the Kenyan Marxist finish stacking the SCOTUS bench with more Kagans and Sotomayors.

If anyone here is against a candidate, it does not mean they are promoting someone else. All of the idiots like you can stop that stupid method argument right now. Norm Lenhart was trying to make a point about Perry. It does not win a point if you try to falsely attach him to Romney. It is a silly and stupid way to make a point. It is also used too much on the FR. The subject is Perry and he wants to talk about that subject. Only liberals use “Red Herrings” to argue. Are you a liberal, gogogodzilla? You post like one.

Believe me, there are more than enough Romney supporters among Democrats, independents and Republicans for him to cruise with (or without) their open primary.

That is true. Though I think his biggest problem is that he told the truth about his feelings towards illegals. And that is a bigger integrity problem, interestingly enough, because it says to the country that breaking the law is OK and something to be proud of and rewarded.
