We “Do Not Consider Perry a Factor… We Know Who it is Who Will be Our Nominee”
Race 4 2012 ^ | October 4, 2011 | Matt Coulter

Posted on 10/05/2011 1:03:21 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Those words were spoken today by Georgette Mosbacher, RNC Finance Co-Chair and huge GOP fundraiser, after Chris Christie’s announcement. The “we” is all the big bundlers, fundraisers, and money folks who have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for the field to be set — and that quote represents the coalescing around Mitt Romney that is expected to happen rather quickly now. Mosbacher went on to say:

“I think tomorrow, we’ll be contacting one another and probably put something together with Romney… And I would say that the race is now Romney and Obama. Quite frankly, the enthusiasm wasn’t there at the outset. He’s less conservative than a lot of us would like. However, our first and foremost goal is to defeat Obama. And we do believe Romney, in terms of independents, will be a strong candidate. We will coalesce behind him now… the time has come to get behind him… Tomorrow I’ll be on the phone all day. Quite frankly, it’ll be easier, because now we know who it is who will be our nominee. So we will pull our Rolodexes out and get to work.”

Fellow bundler and sideline-sitter John Catsimatidis added, “I’m going to go with Mitt Romney. I don’t think Perry has it in him to do it. He’s a lot better than Sarah Palin, but not a lot lot better.”

Ouch.

In related news, Romney also scored another major fundraiser from the Draft Christie movement: Ken Langone. Langone is the founder of Home Depot and is described as a “titan” in the political money scene. He backed Rudy Giuliani in 2008, helping Giuliani out raise the other candidates. There is evidence that a great deal of the money that had sat on the sidelines so far in this race will now fall into Romney’s coffers.

Rick Perry, for his part, got the endorsement of another Draft Christie member: Gary Kirke, a west Iowa investor and casino owner who had also been sitting on the sidelines until this afternoon.

A supreme court packed with Sotomayor and Kagan types for at least 10 more years, 4 more of Eric Holder.

And you think Mittens would be better? Different, sure. Better. OK, sure. Whatever you say, FRiend.

McLame was the last RINO I will ever vote for.

Don't like it? Then talk to the management to have me zotted.

I actually have a working theory that Cincinatus' Wife is actually an anti-Perry campaigner. She has almost single handedly turned a certain section of FR against Perry by a) a deluge of quasi propaganda and b) refusing to respond to simple questions about Perry (and an acerbic riposte that avoids the question is NOT a response). Which makes people wonder a lot about the candidate, and brings negative attention to him. There is a saying from my country of birth that says 'a good thing sells itself because it is obvious to all and sundry that it is good, but a bad thing has to aggressively push itself down peoples' throats because it would not be bought otherwise' (kizuri chajiuza, kibaya chajitembeza). Perry's people have been pushing him a tad too aggressively, at certain times seeming like a weird amalgamation of an old school snakeoil salesman and a mid 60s Soviet propagandist. Huge turn off. And whenever someone asks hard questions one of them on another thread (I am not sure if it was C's Wife) actually brought her gender into the debate (I am a woman). Geez. Highly liberal tactics.

On this thread C's Wife said Perry is better than Palin. I am surprised no one has yet asked for her to explain why that is the case.

Anyways, putting it all togetherId surmise that C's Wife is actually, incognito, an anti-Perry advocate. Trying to build up tacit revulsion against Perry through her tactics. Like driving a Ford Explorer fitted with Firestone tires down a ravine in 1999-2000 to show how 'safe' things are. Negative attention. If I was heading Perry's campaign I would send a polite message asking for the 'assistance' to stop. Some 'assistance' can be a hindrance, and it is not for nothing that a good number of FReepers consider Perry as much a RINO (albeit with a slightly smaller horn) as Romney

Thank you for your support but I don’t think I’m going to run this year

BAM! Thank you for a much needed early morning laugh! That was an awesome response!

I agree with you re: the compassionate conservative Perry and I made just that point earlier in this thread. I’m not so sure that Romney would be as bad or worse than Perry on all the issues, however.

Remember, Romney’s MO is to flop to whatever position he believes will win him the most favor with the voters in his next election. In this case, he’d be looking for re-election, I see no evidence that he, for example, would be driven to hand citizenship and voting to 30 million illegal aliens, the way that Perry would.

Also, Romney is not nearly as transparently crony and donor driven as Perry. Perry has submerged himself in a cesspool of special deals and pay-for-play appointments and giveaways. Romney has both already had enough money of his own and had enough ability to raise money without such grotesque dealmaking.

(A pox on both of them IMO!)

I give, based on who is actually running, because in the event she wouldn’t run, I wouldn’t want that person running to be forced out due to lack of funds.

But, if she started running, I would ensure she got something, and if she became the nominee, I’d ensure she got that 50 percent that was meant for the nominee.

And you miss Perry’s game if you call him an outsider. He’s for sale to anyone who’ll buy, and that’s the GOP Establishment (see: the TTC) often enough. Sure, he plays the rube cowboy conservative game (so well that W is said to have copied him in part), but he has been in the race to try to fool enough conservatives to climb onto his Trojan bandwagon. We’ve seen through it though, so Palin is still a threat to coalesce the conservative base and outnumber Romney’s voters.

Which is why the desperate pleas went out to Chris Christie.

Last stop of desperation among candidates: Jeb Bush.

Failing that, i suggest the personal destruction of the Palins will kick into high gear -- the press, the GOP establishment, and the Dems will ALL gang up on her, and it won't even have to make sense. You will see simultaneous attacks on her, which contradict each other on the main point, all in the vain hope of stopping her.

In extremis I would fear for her safety or her family, but for the thousands or millions nationwide praying for her.

I am hoping she does something drastic once elected to uproot the Communist vermin infecting our government or institutions: but instead I predict simultaneous economic and military crisis, by coordination of powers within and without our nation's borders, to try to neutralize her ability to do good.

Big mistake...on their part, as Sarah apparently prays and listens to the Holy Spirit; who somehow always has the inside track over the Prince of the Power of the Air...

Cheers! Cheers!

“What Democrat should he have endorsed instead?”

I’ll take ‘none of them’ for the win Alex ;)

But that’s neither here nor there. My point remains unchallenged that he should have been honest rather than lying and trying to spin his way out of it.

As for me, I’m picking Palin and the rest (Cain possibly excepted) can pound salt. I don’t want to be forced into another nose holding vote. To get rid of Zero? Probably/maybe would hold my nose. But as an earlier poster said,(paraphrased) do we then hit the wall at 100 or 75mph?

Ok. Now you are getting silly. You clearly are a drunk. There is no way that Ricardo is better than Governor Palin. You are either hitting the bong or drunk or both.

...or she's getting paid?

Cheers!

I have said over and over that Romney will be the nominee. Unfortunately, it looks like I am right. The Shadow Republican hierarchy has spoken.

Well, if it comes to pass that Romney's the Republican candidate... I will vote third party. I don't care what anyone says about that, either. I promised myself in 2008 that I would never, *NEVER*,

NEVER

vote for a candidate that did not represent what I believe in.

I hope it doesn't come to pass... and I will be voting in the Florida primaries.

You post Romney as the “nominee”?

NO RINOs. It is simple: NO RINOs.

See?

You sound exactly like a hostage taker who says to the outsiders, "It's YOUR fault if these people die, if you don't do exactly what I say."

The fault is the GOP and the RINOs, for preferring their tony Georgetown circle-jerks to serving and saving the country.

(What happened to the promised spending cuts from Weepy Boner? What happened to the repeal of Obamacare? Even if the first bill is vetoed, or fails the Senate, the House can change one word and send it up again and again...)

Look at the 2010 elections. Landslide for reform. But the GOP insists on trying to force us to swallow another squish: and has paraded a series of them in an effort to forestall Palin.

Screw them all.

Eh, why do you care? Perry’s toast, haven’t you heard?

Why are you beating a dead horse, instead of targeting Romney?

Think about that...

Sorry to bother you GW but have you seen Cincinatus’ Wife since she ducked my question again? I’m worried aliens might be controlling her or abducting her or something because when someone holds her feet to the fire she just up and vanishes. (cue X-files theme)

This has happened a number of times now and I am concerned for the safety of a fellow Freeper. Damn those aliens (extraterrestrial or illegal ;)....

Clearly she is on Ricardo Perry's pay roll and most likely Merck too. Anyone who supports this liberal loser and his pathetic campaign has to be paid.....who would admit it otherwise? Hopefully she will support a true conservative in Governor Palin when she announces soon.....Cincinatus’ Wife basically has four choices.....Palin, Cain, Santorum and Bachmann and she picks Ricardo Perry the alien lover. Disgusting!!!!!!!!! Hopefully this is just a psychotic episode that she is having and will be alleviated soon.

If Romney is the Republican choice I will be going down to the Election Board and registering as an Independent.

I have had enough of this RINO party pick POS.

I care because people on this website are presenting a RINO as a conservative and lying about it. Someone might believe it without learning the truth for themselves.

Or does truth no longer a cornerstone of conservative thought?

Think about THAT...
